Cheaters always prosper...

The saying when I was a school boy was told: Cheaters never prosper. As I got older, I found it to be the opposite. If you want to get ahead in business, cut corners and cheat.
Depending on how greedy you are there comes a time when you can no longer hide shady dealings.

This afternoon in the news, I read:

Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, found that Trump and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing loans.

The Trump Organization had been under investigation for more than a decade, but Trump while president was under a veil of protection. The veil is gone.

So it appears that cheaters can prosper until they get audited.
"Judge rules Trump inflated net worth, committed fraud, overvalued assets"

You knew this was coming... right?

This is why

According to Diogenes Laërtius’ third-century Lives and Opinions of the Eminent Philosophers, Plato was applauded for his definition of man as a featherless biped, so Diogenes the Cynic “plucked the feathers from a c*ck, brought it to Plato’s school, and said, ‘Here is Plato’s man.’?” When asked about the origin of his epithet, cynic deriving from the Greek word for dog, Diogenes replied that it was given to him because he “fawns upon those who give him anything and barks at those who give him nothing.”

Segment elevation myocardial infarction, aka STEMI and Al Di Meola...

In the news today, jazz fusion guitarist, Al Di Meola, suffered a heart attack while performing a show in Bucharest Wednesday evening.
The hospital released a statement that Di Meola was sent to the cardiology ward and treated for a segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Al stated he is postponing live performances until next year.

Oddly, I was talking with a coworker yesterday about music and how Miami is a mecca and great place for touring musicians. This guy is Brazilian and told me Al is booked to play at the Rio Montreux Jazz Festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil next month.
Make that Al 'was' booked to play in Brazil.

When wish-list is a bad word...

I design kitchens and for some unknown reason (female) clients are requesting paper towel holders built into a drawer. I stopped asking for their 'wish-list' of kitchen gadgets because they spend hours searching sites like Houzz and Pinterest for photos of things that often don't belong together.

Contemporary or Italian styles don't get fluted mouldings, wood crown moulding and turned wooden legs on the island. Just because you saw it online doesn't make it right.

That makes as much sense as foam dice and dingle-balls on a Mercedes!

But, I've got to do these freaking drawers that hold paper towels.

These clients must be different as nearly every time I reach for a paper towel, my hands are wet! That means the door below it will get water splashed on it. Duh...

I received a request to put one over the trash drawer... you know the place with smelly garbage just inches away. That should give you a warm, fuzzy feeling when you pull a paper towel to wipe your face!

Biden in 2024...

My blog on Gag Order was filling with different topics. That said, new day, new blog. This one focuses on Joe Biden. What's happening now and what to expect in 2024.

gonelikethewimd stated attending a recent convention, people are saying they would vote for Trump (that is if he's not convicted) and if he's convicted, they would NOT vote for Biden.

I'm re-posting one of her comments on that blog for relevance to this blog:

The cookie jar...

A while back, I bought some cashews in a plastic jar with removable lid. when the cashews were gone, I decided to clean and reuse the container. Sometimes, it's for storage of workshop parts, screws, bolts, washers, etc. This time, I decided to use the empty to hold Ginger Snaps. The brand I buy (from the dollar store) come in a bag so I figured it would be easier than clipping the bag each time I wanted a cookie.

The cookies have sugar so I only have 1 or 2 a week and noticed after a month, they aren't as crunchy as when the bag was first opened or when clipped every time I opened. Obviously, it's the air in the container making them stale where I'm unable to close tight like the bag.

As kids, my grandmother baked so well, that neighbors would come to watch her, taking notes as she kept all her secret recipes in her head!
My brother told me she used to work in a bakery and that's where she honed her cooking skills.

As far as her cookies go, when we visited, she would wrap her freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip were her best) in wax paper and aluminum foil for us to bring home.
We weren't concerned about sugar then, so the cookies weren't around long enough to become stale.

Something to note... her secret for soft chocolate chip cookies was substituting orange juice for milk in the recipe.

Remembering those bloggers who are no longer with us...

I'll scroll through some old emails or check photos in my phone and come across someone who passed on. While I'm not close to any CS members, I do remember those bloggers who were an active part of the CS community and are no longer with us.

Nearly a year ago, Willy passed away.
A few years now that wenever left us.
Bearwoman is gone too...

Thinkin' of ya!

Body Type: Slim/Slender...

The profile reads she's looking for an honest man, no lies. Her photo shows a woman medium height and a guesstimated weight of 145 to 150 pounds. Slim/Slender is her body type selection.
The thought through my head is she's lying or her perception is skewed.
