Name ONE positive that has come out of the stay at home.

One crazy thing I like...people broadcasting from home. I get to see their kitchens, living rooms, etc. I want Fallon's wallpaper. Wonder what the rest looks like cause it seems to be a wild house for decor.
When I was a child, we made runs into town sometimes to ship dad's work by train. I picked it up from mom to be a peeping Tom as we drove down the streets. We would look for un-curtained windows to see what a living room or kitchen looked like.
There are lots of home magazines. But, I don't want to see some staged, perfect room done by some professional. I want to see how real people decorate. Rooms that the average person arranges.
So this is my positive, getting to read book titles in the background, see their kitchen counter is as cluttered as mine or their paneling or wallpaper. Real, not fake rooms. Genuine lived in homes where families live and gather and share.hug teddybear

The 9/11 baby...

I'm reading some news this morning and see in a Tennessee hospital, baby Christina was born on 9/11 at 9:11pm weighing 9 pounds 11 ounces.
The mother said, "I knew she was gonna be a big baby, I didn't know how big"

The parents are looking on the good side of things from a day of mourning "There was too much devastation, but she's bringing all this joy and life into the world because everybody's been waiting on her."

The wall... unit that is!

Two weeks ago I was installing pendant lights and this past weekend I was designing a brick faced wall unit. My daughter decided she wanted a fireplace built-out wall unit. She found a local company who had photos on their site but needed my help for placement in the family room.
She an my son-in-law are busy decorating the house they recently moved to and now that the sectional furniture arrived a buffet unit was purchased. Unhappy with the TV being mounted to an empty wall the brick wall unit became an item of interest.
Someone used a design program for the sofa and placement of the wall unit was equally spaced on the back wall. However, it pushed the sofa so close to the side in interfered with the sliding door access.
Measuring tape and pieces of paper represented the locations of the item to be built. I strongly disagreed the unit should be centered. "No, it doesn't fit the room" said I.
The answer was 'yes' that all the sofa components were modular and re-configuring the layout was possible. So, we moved one piece and magically... the sofa fit and so did the wall unit in the location I suggested.
It was late and I packed my laptop. Everyone was delighted I found the design solution to her wall unit.
On the way home I got some Pollo Tropical Cuban style grilled chicken and had a mini-feast!
