Nothing is impossible.

A few hundred years ago, flying was said to be impossible and yet, a mere 70 years after the invention of true flight, we have been to the moon and back. We are bound by unproven theories and laws, compiled by ‘clever’ people, telling us that certain things are impossible. The fact is that if we don’t know how to do something (yet), it does not mean it impossible.professor

Theories and natural laws are mostly around because nobody could prove them wrong to date, not because somebody proved it correct. Not even Albert Einstein’s relativity theory is beyond doubt. In a few hundred years, we may laugh at his folly. Look how long we believed that the earth was the center of the universe and Sir Francis Drake had to sail around the world to prove that the earth was round.giggle

So, follow your dreams and don’t be bound by conventions and theories. Conventional thinking gets you nowhere. Explore the unknown and think laterally. If not for that, we would still have been in the Stone Age, living in caves. If brave people did not stake their careers and reputations – even their lives – to challenge the impossible, we would have been nowhere today.applause

Something is only impossible until somebody figures out a way to do it. Everything that we do today was once thought to be impossible.cheering

Five Years Today

Yep, five years and it feels like yesterday when I first stumbled across Connecting Singles after googling for “Connecting Terminals for Single Wires” while fixing a washing machine. I joined the next day and life had never been the same for I became a CS addict. Of course I was not allowed to post immediately. That was the longest week in my life. grin

Five eventful years it was; especially the first two. Lots of fighting on the blogs and I even managed to get a few blogs deleted and got myself suspended once; mercifully for only ten days. Mind you, with all the times I went AWOL I can probably only claim four years on-site. Just in 2017 I was missing from mid February until mid November. doh

During my sojourn here I met some great people; sadly some of them have left us. sigh

Also met a bunch of arseholes; mostly trolls and sadly some of them are still with us. I have no doubt that some are just as keen to see me closing the door from the outside. Bad luck! I’m here to stay for a while longer. tongue

Then there were the weird ones. They come and go and it is not always easy to keep track of who is who when they reincarnate. But I enjoy them; they keep things interesting. How boring it would be without them! popcorn

And finally, of course, there were the scammers but what will a social site be without scammers. At least they kept my mailbox going those days. Mind you, I have not been troubled with scammers so much lately; I think they have me black listed. I used to mess them around too much; thinking out new excuses why the money has not arrived kept me quite busy those days. :uhuh:

If I subtract the 52,400 ±10 Private Messages from scammers, gays and men (those that I have deleted from my mail box) from those who have viewed my profile, I’m left with exactly 109 (estimated and not reviewed by peers giggle) ±10 real women who had viewed my profile. When you consider some of them viewed my profile more than once, it is even less. rolling on the floor laughing

All in all the blogs had gone quiet. Lately the only fights we get are about politics and religion. So boring; I wish they would ban those two topics; it does not seem to promote romancing. flirty

Seven people commented on my first blog and four of them stand out today. See my first comment about them.wow

But never mind the niggles, this is still the best social site on the planet. I don’t bother with Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype and the likes. CS is tops and I’m looking forward to many more years on this delightful site. thumbs up

Knee Man's Mugshot...

I haven't seen the mugshot. I think something is wrong with that.
Photo, yes but mugshots I've seen have a front and side view along with case numbers.
The photo I've seen looks like a passport photo.
Maybe they stopped doing that... otherwise how would you know a real photo from a faked mugshot photo?
Counterfeit 20 dollars. This whole thing started over an alleged counterfeit bill. That's a case for the FBI and should be in the police report.
Four officers were fired and only one (knee man) was arrested and charged with third-degree murder, currently out of $500,000 bail. Oddly, I read today he was in jail under suicide watch. Something is wrong with that.
If the other 2 officers who aided knee man weren't considered accomplices and charged, something is wrong with that.

Because the glove didn't fit, they had to acquit...

OJ Simpson died from cancer this week. All the haters got another chance to bring up how they believed he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The pair were stabbed to death outside Brown's condominium the night of June 12, 1994.

Prosecutors thought the gloves found on the scene were among the strongest evidence because DNA tests showed blood on them. In the courtroom, Simpson struggled to get the gloves and his defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, proclaimed “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Simpson was ultimately found not guilty.

If O.J. didn't kill Nicole and Ronald... who did??
All the emphasis was targeting O.J. and no one else. It was him or... nothing.

30 years later... was something missed?
I recall reading his son was jealous of Nicole's relationship. He worked in a restaurant as a chef and had access to an assortment of knives. There was a gate to the residence that had to be scaled and O.J. Simpson with many football injuries wasn't capable of getting over the fence, but his young son... probably could.

Sure O.J. acted like a fool trying to evade the police and all the other drama that ensued. Factually, O.J. may not have done it, but it's my opinion, he sure knew who did.

While there was no news of him being in hospice, his death (of prostate cancer) at age 76 came as a surprise. For those who were hoping at some point, he would reveal a fact (before he died) that didn't turn up in the courtroom. A confession didn't happen.

He's over the line on Twitter...

Several times I've said that Trump abuses his Twitter feed and tweets government things (including influential opinion) that shouldn't be posted coming from his position as president of the United States.
While I say this, I'm sure there will be some comments that he hasn't broken any laws... perhaps, but my opinion is based on common sense.

Every time one of Trumps friends or associates goes to jail, Trump has to express his dismay over the situation... as though they are innocent, regardless of the charges, in an attempt to negate the legal charges. This month, it's Roger Stone, up for sentencing this week. Trump Tweets,"Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!"
Roger is considered his long-time advisor... although Trump hardly knew him and recently distanced himself from what he actually does/did for Trump...

We had reports that Attorney General William Barr was being influenced and more than 1,000 former DOJ attorneys called for Barr to step down.
Tonight Yahoo! posted an ABC News story of an exclusive interview with AG Barr.

It was interesting to note: Barr criticized the president about him making tweets about the department, people in the department, cases pending in the department and about judges for department cases makes it impossible for Barr to do his job to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department making sure they are doing their jobs with integrity.
Barr supports Roger Stone's conviction despite Trumps statement "I thought the whole prosecution was ridiculous."

Good night...

Apologies

People apologize for only two reasons; firstly because they were wrong and are truly sorry or secondly because they are under pressure to do so. I don’t care much for the latter and I won’t include those timid souls who are forever apologizing about everything to save the peace; whether they are right or wrong. That’s not apologizing; it is grovelling. mumbling

Now don't take offense as I'm not saying anything. This is all hypothetical. Besides, if you do it will only reveal what you think of yourself. hole

Let’s imagine a hypothetical situation during a small altercation on the blogs where I called another blogger the biggest arsehole I have ever come across. Allegations like that don’t just slip out; such an opinion of him was build from previous thoughts and it takes a lot of frustration to force it into the open. uh oh

If he then runs to management and I’m given the options to apologize or face suspension – a angel2 fairytale in itself – I’d apologize but it will not mean a thing. Nothing has changed. I’d still think that he’s an arsehole and I’ll probably apologize by conceding that he’s not the biggest arsehole that I have stumbled across and that I’m sorry for calling him that. Regardless, he will just become an even bigger arsehole in my opinion. Apparently we are allowed to have opinions… as long as we keep them to ourselves. grin

On the other hand, if later I should discover that my opinion of the guy was wrong and that he’s not such a big arsehole at all, then I have done him wrong and I should and would apologize in a most sincere way. I was wrong about him and I will tell him so. blushing

Maybe we can look at another hypothetical scenario; let’s assume that I’m told to apologize or face suspension – more wishful thinking rolling on the floor laughing – after expressing the opinion that half the members at CS are arseholes, I believe that I’ll gladly (and honestly) concede that half the members at CS are not arseholes. idea

An Unfair Advantage?

If you think that attractive people have it easier then you are absolutely correct. Being attractive is an advantage that should not be taken lightly.scold

Research has proved that attractive people are perceived to be smarter, more successful, more dominant, more sociable, more trustworthy, more pleasant, and mentally more stable than less attractive people are.doh

It is said that a good-looking child gets more attention from his parents than his/her uglier siblings do. Scientists believe that parents unconsciously spend more time with their more attractive children because they are seen as better genetic material.shock

Teachers show preference to more attractive learners as they see them as more promising. Because they get more attention, they work a bit harder, and their work is graded a bit more lenient, they have a better chance of getting bursaries.professor

Attractive job applicants have a 30% higher callback rate for a second interview. Attractive employees are seen as more valuable as they are thought to project a more favorable image of the company. As such, they usually earn up to $5000 more P/A compared to their less attractive colleagues. So yes, it pays to be attractive.laugh

When charged with a crime, an attractive accused is more likely to be perceived as not guilty. However, when found guilty of embezzlement, swindling, or fraud, attractive people are mostly punished more severely. Justice is not blind, merely biased.giggle

But all in all, an outer appearance is but skin-deep and must perish at some stage while the inner beauty will prevail. If you are not attractive, do not despair for you are sure to have other assets to offset the unfair advantages of a pretty face.flirty
