Does anybody know where I can get some Virtual Lollypops urgently? I have tried Google but I can’t find any. Hence my appeal to you.

My father has 9 great grand children and some of them are at the ‘difficult’ stage. On Sundays when the family gets together, they sometimes get very difficult when they get tired. My father always keeps a few lollipops in his pocket and when they get difficult, he simply hands each of them a lollypop. It’s amazing to see how well it works. Before you know, the whole lot are quiet and in front of the TV to fall asleep on the couch.

I need a few virtual lollypops. Please help if you can.

And maybe a few virtual pampers as well.

I don’t have a problem with a picture or video blog, but why not make a decent blog of it? You should really treat your readers with a bit more respect.

Don’t just dump a photo in your blog for us to guess what you’re trying to convey to us. Tell us something about the photo or video. What does it mean to you? Share your thoughts on it.

Or are you too scared to write something because it may give away something about yourself?

You don’t have to write much. Just tell us your reflections on it, or maybe just a descriptive heading for each pic or video.

This may sound like criticism but it is meant to be constructive and not aimed at anybody specific. Some of you will probably think that I should mind my own business and tell me to worry about my own blog. And you’d be perfectly right, but being the busy body I am, I just had to poke my nose into it.

But then again, it is all opinion and, as things stand, it is just mine. So do with it whatever you want. You can even print it on soft paper to use it in the toilet.

Interesting and factual video, just 5 mins long

I get very suspicious when two bloggers disappear at the same time. Every time when it happened in the past, there was a snake in the grass.

Jim and Wallops have been missing for a while now. I know they are still underage, but there may just be some state in the USA that will allow minors to be married. I think we must investigate it. At this rate there will soon be nobody left to read and write blogs.

Our beer-drinking Canadian flutterby is also MIA, but methinks she patched it up with her ex-husband. From her blogs, it seemed evident that she was still very fond of him.

But lots of things are brewing. Before Denmark’s very own Marco Polo got visitors, he was camping on the blog of a prominent Scottish blogger. I‘m not playing Cupid, but is there something hatching?

And somebody else is still crazy (after all these years) about some jerk with a weakness for Fruity Loops.

As for myself, no thank you. The woman who settles for me is mad and I don’t want a wife who is – please insert the F-Word (continuous tense) here – nuts.

Holes have been a part of our lives since life began, from humble cave dwellings Man (and women) have embraced these natural or man (or women) made orifices.

From gashes in the sides of hills to those plunging deep into mother earth no hole is the same, each one is individual and in my opinion a work of art, dark, moist and sometimes humid, holes can be glorious, holes can be scary too.

The Romans used a lot of holes, they joined them together to make aqueducts and for sanitary and unsanitary products.

Some of you live in big cities, daily you enter these cavities and enter transport via dark passages, emerging from another hole, perhaps as its Sunday you are travelling to a holy place to make yourself feel whole.

All creatures on earth and beyond have holes, we use them to shovel food inside ourselves, we use them to breathe, we expel our waste from them and of course we have a lot of sensual fun with them, often creating little babies that enter our world through a hole. When we die they chuck us in a hole.

All of you are using something with a hole in it, a wine bottle, a cup of coffee, tin of soda or even a ketchup bottle. You are alive as you breathe through one right now, you hear through a hole, maybe you are eating one right now, most of us have lived with or live with an a**hole.

We use and abuse holes, sometimes we worship them, but they are always there for us, we don’t often say thank you to these wonderful , so today is a celebration of all things with holes, today is World Hole Day.

Join me and celebrate the hole, on this day of the holes.

Certain items are normally found in sets of two and are therefore rightly referred to as a pair. Some examples of such items are shoes, slippers, socks, boots, stockings, shoelaces, gloves, cuff links, earrings, eyes, lungs, kidneys, skis, skates, speakers, chopsticks, knitting needles, etc.

Then there are items like handcuffs and headphones that are referred to as a pair although they may appear to be one item. However, upon closer examination, one can see it as two items joined together and we can reconcile ourselves quite easily with it as a pair.

But there is another category of items can causes more confusion as these items all appear to be single items and yet it is referred to as a pair. Examples of these are pants, trousers, trunks, shorts, jeans, glasses, sunglasses, binoculars, goggles, scissors, pliers, clippers, tweezers, tongs, and shears. The list can be split op in three sub-categories;

a garment to cover you from the waist down,
eyewear and optical instruments,
a tool with two jaws that can open and close.

Although they appear to be unrelated, they all have one thing in common. They started off as a pair of two separate items.

The trousers it had its humble beginnings as two legs worn to keep the legs warm. Later it gained flaps that overlapped at the top where it was tied around the waist. In time it became one single garment but the pair stayed.

Glasses also started off as a single lens called a monocle. Eventually two lenses were mounted in a single frame and once again the pair could not be dislodged from the item. After all, it is a pair of lenses in a single frame. Ditto for a pair of binoculars that can be seen as two telescopes made into one instrument.

But the last category, (pliers, tongs, scissors, etc) is the most interesting. Before the invention of the rivet they were in fact two separate pieces that had to be hooked into each other to be used. It was a true pair.

My grandfather had two giant pairs of these pliers – about a meter in length - that he used in his furnace. It worked the other way around. You had to open the legs to close the jaws and I believe this kind of technology is still in use today because the expansion of the rivet or stud, when used inside a furnace, makes it hard to open and close the pliers.

But the question I cannot answer is why a single item without legs is called a pair of panties while a bra is not a pair when it is clearly two cups joined in the middle.
