A Cub Scout follows Akela

There are things I never understood.
Long, long ago, back when our President was a bald guy who everyone liked, or so the buttons said, I was a Cub Scout. America was different back then and us little toddlers in blue were given knives (two one for the pocket, one for the belt in a sheath) and hatchets to hack firewood with.

No, I never even heard of one of us hurting anyone with those. Who would do that? The knives were for whittling and cutting rope, not much more.

Alas just before I turned 11 and had to leave my Cub Scout pack and join the Boy Scouts I lost my Official Cub Scout Pocket Knife. Not really my fault I think. There was a little brass fitting on my belt the knive's loop hooked on. One day I discovered at the end of the day that sometime during the day the brass fitting had fallen off the the belt. I was devastated and visited every place I had been but never found it.

My parents did not share my concern as next week I was getting my Boy Scout uniforms and of course I would get a new official Boy Scout knife. Two and a new hatchet too. And even an actual ax. Cool.

I can't tell you how unhappy I was to learn the Boy Scout pocket knife was inferior to the Cub Scout knife. You see the Cub Scout Knife had a blade lock to keep the blade from closing on your fingers. The Boy Scout knife didn't. It was less than a week before the Boy Scout knife closed on my fingers during a routine slicing of something or other. Drip, drip, drip went my bloody finger. Some Boy Scouts still had their superior Cub Scout knives, but Local BSA Council policy was Boy Scouts may not use Cub Scout equipment. I even raided my piggy bank and went to Bobkopffs (the official store for buying scout equipment) and after the 3rd time the knife closed on my fingers tried to buy a Cub Scout knife. The man looked at my Scout ID Card and refused to sell me a piece of Cub Scout equipment. The only thing he was willing to sell me was another dumb Boy Scout jackknife. Not interested. Instead I went to a cigar store and bought a cheap Black Cat K-55 knife from Germany. A cheap stamped knife probably better for fighting as many were used for that, BUT it had a blade that locked. AND because it was not Cub Scout equipment it was okay to carry a K-55. Weird rational that. In the next decade I went through a dozen K-55 knives. Riveted, their rivets kept popping out if you tried to pry anything open with them or use the blade as a screw driver. Whatever. I could buy 4 K-55s for the price of one Boy Scout jackknife, and it did not slice my fingers. The blades would bend (being pot metal), but they didn't slam closed on my fingers and that was important.

Anyway, half a century later, guess what I found online? YES!!! At last, a 'new in box' Cub Scout Jackknife just like the one I lost so long, long ago.

Happy I am to put it away in my box of things from my childhood.

Body donation

Have you ever thought of donating your bodies when your lives are over to save others' lives?

I have been thinking about this sometimes but still not gather enough courage to make up my mind yet...

What do you think about this? heart1

Hi and goodbye?

Meet. Cold time. Understand. Affection. Then Leave... if it is the way life goes and yes it is, then we must not be so soft when we go down the development curve. But. It is really a hard feeling seeing people you like leaving you.

We worked, we drank, we played, we made jokes, we laughed, we had hard talks, we discovered, we felt, we found the match and we left ... for the new ones to enter our lives. Changes are more often good than bad and it is unavoidable though.

I m gonna miss u much my best boss ever. Today u told people that i m your best translator and assistant ever. I m sorry i was so moved that i could not tell people that i feel the same way as you do. but i will behind your back lol. Gonna miss much your humurous manner, your tacticful responses, your chidlike moments, your smartness, your whole hearted devotion, your encouragement...

Thanks anyway life for at least once in a while in space bringing us together. Wish you all the best anywhere you are dear boss. Thank you for all the time we had. Thank you and see you again in our walks of life my mentor, my good friend, my great boss!teddybear

End of today, beginning of tomorrow

25 minutes ... before the clock's hour and minute sticks come together as one to mark a new day. A new day starts in darkness at midnight and gets brighter when our eyes open to the sunlight. That way i hardly notice that a new day doesnt begin with sunshine but grows from dark to light.

So many questions about him when he helped me organize Mom's celebration. "Who is he?; is he your boyfriend?; are you marrying him soon?; why don't you marry him, he is good..." Bla bla yes he is good but he is just my buddy.

And today once again i had to turn down his proposal. It hurts. Not only him but also me. I wish i could love him. I have tried several times for more than 10 years but i can't lie to myself. He is good but my feelings just won't come...

Sometimes life is like a chasing game. People want what they can not get and do not want what they have... but anyway, love can not be forced..i must let go even though i m lost.

What do i want? A nice western gentleman. Why? Why not Asian? I have many decent married western colleagues and friends and i like the ways they treat their women. I have witnessed and had not good experience with Asian men that keeps me stay away from them.

But now, talking with some white guys online really confuses my mind. What perception should i have about western guys? I used to think they are nice, kind, humble and respect people on an equal ground. However, now i really dont know if i should correct my perception.

Many of those white guys i have talked to seem so different from what i thought. Seem they look down on Asian women, poor countries. Seem they just want submissive women. They are even much more arogant than dominant men which i hate the most.

Or is that because of misunderstanding or different ways of thinking that hampered and made the conversations go wrong? But why most of my foreign colleagues and friends love me? Or cos of my shortage of knowledge of culture barriers or cos of my unlucky encounter to people whom i should just think of as a reference for socio-diversity?...

So many questions to be cleared in the way to address the challenges, improve myself to reach a harmonized relation.

I was so irritated today by an Australian guy who immediately said i was a scammer and a b*tch after he saw my skype location in philippine (i registered skype when i was there) and i said he was arrogant as he looked down on poor countries. I was so shocked. Never had i received such dirty words until i opened up myself and joined this online world. People warned me it is a hot pot including much trush that makes it difficult to have trust but it is really not easy when we actually have to encounter it to filter and be clear.

Really tired now. I need more western friends to get to know them to learn more and maybe think less lol. And now what i need the most, a sound sleep! Tomorrow a new clear sky is awaiting to expel part of the ambiguity.

Why so many negatives try to troll us all?

Hey guys I understand their are people who don't like me and I okay with that. I also understand why some profiles that don't have pictures are truly afraid of showing who they are. Remember it's up to you to decide how to feel and go with your own flow. It's best just to let all the negative go and move on. Nobody can't stop us all from living our lives and dreams. I know I talked about positive vs negative in my previous blog, but it's best to see how truly people really are who they say they are in the real, then being and acting like somebody else online. It can be hard to ignore the negative when it gets outta of hand. Also the real saying treat others they way you wanted to be treated.

To our fallen soldiers and living as well

Happy memorial day

Author: lindsyjones

roses laid out for your memory
not only for the dead but for the living as well
you gave your courage and strength for me
so that I can write this for the world to see

you were not asked but ordered
I am sure that is how it goes
to pick up your helmet, gun and sword
and bled to die defending your post

while I wasn't there to witness
the brutalities and atrocities you went through
I imagine with a living soul
it must have been hellish for you

some of you came back home lucky
with no scar and or physical pain
but the trauma of terror etched in your memory
will haunt you until the end

today as fitting as it should
the world giving you this day of tribute
but I know deep in my heart
you deserve even more than that

I hope therefore that you feel good
knowing you have done a heroic job
defending our country and what we believe in
for the future of our country and children

Salute to all those in one way or another contributed to securing our peace. Dead and also for those living.
