The rental unit......

Twins away fattening up the pocketbooks of the too many administrators in higher education. So why not use that private extra space,...hell, when I built the addition, we designed it as separate quarters anyway? Lots of inquiries to the adverts. Some from overseas. Latest is this young dentist lady with twins herself....twin Chihuahuas, no less. Made a point of saying no smokers or pets (or CS bloggers) in the ads, but she emailed anyway, with a most responsible presentation on her possible tenancy with the little barkers. So I said to come on by so we all could discuss things. If it somehow doesn't work out, and Bravo and I are driven batty, sure, I'll be inclined to blame. But from the gitgo, who doesn't see my role in things? Motives. Aa.

Watch Out World

I haven't written a blog in a long while and have barely been on CS to comment. My computer went on the fritz a few months ago. I loathe typing on my "smart phone". I have to redo typing constantly because I don't hit the non-keys right.

Well, I invested in a device that has a proper keyboard again....so, watch out, world! I might just drive you all nuts with my 'making up for lost time' blogs. Lol

Hope you all have been well and happy!

30+ meter white pine dying,

leaning precariously toward the Aa palace, and in coastal high winds, dropped large dead branches, which meant a new front roof. Blessing in disguise, as the "30 year" singles were going anyway, after half that time.I took the old girl down in come along assisted controlled falls. Had half a dozen roofers by for estimates. In the younger days, would have done the metal roof job with a buddy---not exactly rocket science. Strapping, sheets, screws. But insurance paying, and why not create jobs? Most firms were by chance now run by second/third generation males who inherited the business from pops. Some striking observations. First was the enormous range in estimate prices---almost three fold, for a job worth no more than three large. I joke not, and the insurance adjuster commented that he sees this often in homes by the ocean and in shishi neighborhoods. But I have dealt with the dads of these current business men in bygone years, and what a difference. Knowledge base, people skills, no jive, respect for the customer, and not to mention not having to be called several times ---"lost your numbers/messages". Office staff equally clueless. What a joy to have come upon some local Amish ccontractors. "Working out", as the farm life apparently no longer does it all. Calls returned, arrivals for esimates when promissed, lovely family in tow ( sweet well behaved kids liked our twins old tree house and tree swings---not to mention Mr. Bravo), and quickly sent detailed itemized work estimates. Like the old days. My manager pals here at McD's complain about the lack of work ethics in recent hires. You all know my views on illegal immigration, but legal recent arrivals in business comport themselves orofessionallylike pops. These fair religious young folks do as well. Just a few observations on how liberal welfare largesse government policy is our downfall. Aa.

Organized charities.....

over the years, there have been reports of shamelessly high (20 to 35%), administrative costs of the money these take in from generous, caring donors. Today, with Houston upon us, there was a story on how the American Red Cross may be scimming cash as well. Apparently, in ARC efforts in recent disasters in Haiti, 25% of the money was for. administrative "costs". I no longer regularly donate blood to the RC, when I learned that the supply they get at relatively low operational/storage costs, gets marketed formany hundreds of dollars a pint in hospitals. The very high salaries of the suits in such organizations, such as Goodwill, should be instructive to us all in these regards. Some larger regional hospitals will gladly take blood donations. Of course, speaking of scams on donors, look at the Catholic and other religious organizations. Aa.

Ion the spirit

Even though the Christmas music is piped into the stores sound system even subliminal messages don’t get me in the mood. I need to clean for company and I’m lacking the cleaning spirit. It’s like I have a Scrooged attitude about the joy of cleaning. Bah humbug
