Bullets in your baggage...

Years ago, there were stories about Americans vacationing in Philippines who were detained by airport security when a single bullet was found in a coat pocket. Arrested and forced to pay fines to be released from jail. The 'bullet-planting' scandal was eventually resolved by investigation.
Twice this month, I've seen stories about Americans with bullets in their luggage. They were detected in a foreign country while on vacation. Security there isn't lenient in the least. Prison and huge fines. One guy is facing a 12-year sentence.

No guns... only a few bullets that (he said) wasn't cleaned out of his luggage before going on a trip.

Some reader comments did ask the question as to why the bullets weren't found by security scanning BEFORE they left the US?

Bullets in your baggage... Don't leave home with them!

Who would like to report 50+ new scammers on CS?

Hi all (men and women),

I need help in reporting 50+ NEW scammers (= fakes) on CS.
The more reporting, the better. When you report you can put them on your "blocked list", then you see them gone when they are deleted.
Waiting for you to message me.

Think about me every now and then old friend...

It's Sunday night and I'm wrapping up another YouTube marathon weekend, where I came across some stories about Paul McCartney and John Lennon. American singer/songwriter/guitarist Carl Perkins had enormous influence on The Beatles, early in their careers.
This video I'm linking is about after their breakup and how they often collaborated with other musicians.

Paul & Linda had visited John in New York at The Dakota apartments where he was staying. As they were leaving it's claimed Lennon said: "Think about me every now and then old friend..." Something they didn't share with anyone else. Lennon was murdered in 1980.

Years later, McCartney invited Carl Perkins to work on a project with him and stayed at their house. Carl had a dream with a song lyric and the next morning he played it for Paul, repeating the last words he and Linda heard when leaving John.

The rest is history.

Did the spirit of John pass by Carl that night?

A real story of a place where water of a river turn red during a mensuration of goddess durga

Kamakhya temple is one of the oldest Shakti peetha in India. It is situated on the Nilachal hill in Guwahati,Assam.

The story behind Kamakhya temple is quite interesting. It's about Hindu God Shiva and Sati.

Once Sati fraught with Shiva to attend her father's great Yagna, where they both were not invited purposefully. Sati went alone to the Yagna. There she was insulted by her father and also he spoke ill about Shiva. Unable to bear the insult Sati jumped in to the sacrificial fire of the Yagna. Shiva got to know about the incident,he couldn't control his anger. Carrying his wife's burnt corpse he went on a rampage with his dance of destruction. Which we all know as Tandav. All God and Goddess were in fear. They all went to Vishnu to get any help. Then Vishnu sent his Chakra and cut burnt body of Sati,in order to calm Shiva.

It's believed that Sati's body parts fell in 108 different places across India. Today they are known as Shakti peetha.

The place where her womb and va*ina fell,is what today's Kamakhya temple.

The Ambubachi Mela is an annual mela celebrated during assamese month Ahaar. It is the celebration of the yearly menstruation course of goddess Kamakhya. It is believed that during that time the water of Brahmaputra near the temple turns red. There is no idol of the deity inside the temple. But she is worshipped in the form of a YONI like stone instead over which a natural spring flows.

This is the story which I have heard from childhood. Apart from this, it's a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

Thank you.

I went to Chiang Mai in 1997 with my then (first) husband. I took a picture standing at the exact same spot 27 years later. Seeing this picture collage, Art then commented, "You will take another one 27 years later with your 3rd husband! rolling on the floor laughing

Time to check out of the resort and fly back to Malaysia.

I tried the famous Khao Soi - a Northern Thai curry noodle, for the very first time.

To be honest, I prefer our very own Malaysian curry noodle. My daughter and I can have kari mee, as we Malaysians called it, for breakfast, lunch or even dinner! Just like with any other food, in Malaysia we don't care about the time or protocols, we eat whatever we want, wherever and whenever we want. cheering

About the "Meet Me" part of Connecting Singles

So, I come to this site and I check the Invoice. Sometimes there is a message, sometimes there isn't. I also check the blogs, seeing if any catch my interest (a few do, but please keep writing). And then I start on the "Meet Me" course, adjusting my search for any woman between 24 years of age and 34 years of age (I am 34). First, I start with my home state. When no results show up, I go for the option of all states and, sometimes, even different nations. I do find quite the unique individuals, women of different backgrounds from entrepreneurship to working in high-paying fields like business, law, and medical fields. There's even a few former military women on the site.

I am asked if I want to meet the woman, which I respond with a "Yes" or a "Maybe"; I only say "No" if the woman's status is married or separated (divorced makes me more hesitant, so I usually skip those individuals). I even give a few women a "Like" every now and then.

Now, I know I am not the only one who does this; it is a public site after all, and the options and preferences are available for all. My question is this: would anyone like to actually meet up?

I need to stop looking at Instagram reels at night..

These past few weeks, I have been very active on Instagram, where I watch reels. I need to stop doing that at night, just before bed.

The reason? Food.. I watch a LOT of food reels, and it's making me hungry.

Last night, I was watching about ten reels with brisket, mac and cheese, spaghetti, lasagne and big steaks. One reel improved on the Baconator from Wendy's, which in of itself is a damn fine burger. Now, seeing as it was around midnight, and all the shops were closed, I had no way of buying the ingredients I needed to make said burger from scratch. I also didn't have a blender, so.. Maybe it's for the best, because I wanted to make the bacon mayonnaise that was put in the burger.

I also got a fantastic idea for bacon cheese, but that'll be made another day. To add to that: I need to experiment with barbecue sauces, because I need different ones for different meats. Some of them will be spicy. I love spicy stuff!

My cooking is about to be taken to the next level over the next few months!

Toto, I have a feeling we are not in Kansas anymore….

Midwest tornadoes plowed through Nebraska and Iowa yesterday. My neighborhood was spared, thankfully but few of my friends were not so lucky…

Art and I were at the hair saloon for our appointments when my WhatsApp chat group suddenly went into a frenzy with my friends all talking about the tornado warning. By then, Art was already done with his haircut but I was only halfway through with my color retouch for my grays!
Well, by the time we were out and on our way home, we decided to stop by at the store. We had our cart full and out of nowhere, the store manager walked up to us and informed us that we had to leave our cart behind and leave the store right away or we can go into shelter in their cooler room with the rest of their staff. Art and I opted for the former, reluctantly leaving our cart behind…

Well, it seems it’s not entirely over yet. We have another tornado warning for tonight…
