Well laid plans of mice and men.

When my husband and I were more newly married; one evening... he asked me what I wanted to do the next day. I said don't know. He said, well..aren't there things you want to do. I said yes. But..will get up in morning and see who broke out, what fell down, what broke..and that is what I will do. And if really lucky, might get to do something I want.
Sound asleep yesterday am cause didn't sleep til 3 am. Phone ringing...dunno it is 8am! Answered and it was my tenant. He said huge limb fell and is resting on electric line to barn..what to do. sigh frustrated
Said be right down. Got up and dressed and headed below.
He was firing up chainsaw. I said do you have rubber soles, yep..gloves...have pair for cutting. We went up to it. 8 inch diameter at least, elbow resting on ground, base hung on line maybe 6 inches. He trimmed branches which I dragged to brush pile behind barn. I said cut up, not down. He cut some. I said keep cutting, it will bounce off line. It did. Pulled insulator off tree, but line looks OK. Tore a piece of fascia off bodyshop but small and not into roof hardly. Something else to fix.
I said thanks load to dad's memory. Mom told him to cut that tree and he said, oh, can use the shade. Now I have a huge maple that is over shop and barn and lines.
Spent the rest of the day working around. Helped tenant unload two truck loads of wood into my woodshed.
Ask me why I hate waking up!wow uh oh

The fault lies in our coaches, not in ourselves.

Straphanger...

I'm not sure the story used the correct word as a straphanger is a person who holds on to a strap on a crowded bus where all the seats are occupied.
However, I read a story today about a 28 year old man in an attempt to avoid paying the $2.75 subway fare, jumped the turnstile. In doing so, his foot caught and he tumbled head first on to the cement floor.
This happened in Queens, New York. He was declared dead at the scene.
What a terrible fate to pay for avoiding a subway toll.

Life off the Record

Life off the Record is a new YouTube series I’m producing with musician Michael Vdelli as he takes us inside what it’s like to build and maintain a successful self-managed music career while navigating the many twists and turns that present themselves along the way.

With unprecedented access to record label discussions, agent negotiations, studio recording sessions, and the at times delicate matter of family business dynamics, Life off the Record pulls back the curtain on the music industry offering an intimate view of what life’s really like for an independent recording artist.

Robbie Bachman... another musician gone.

Robbie Bachman, drummer for the Canadian band, Bachman-Turner Overdrive has passed on at the age of 69. May he rest in peace. The news was confirmed by his brother Randy, who made the statement "Maybe Jeff Beck needs a drummer!"

Details surrounding his death haven't been released.

Focus Energy...

It's a busy Monday, so I put on a Focus - Energy - Concentration video on YouTube and moved the graphics down so it wouldn't distract me.
About 15 minutes into the video, I had to stop it because I couldn't focus on my work!

So much for focus energy... I think it's time for some aspirin.

Weekend - and other things

Ah, here we are. At another weekend. What a week it has been. I was at work on Monday, but was sidelined for the following two days because of a cold. No energy, because lack of sleep, plus I also did not want everyone else to be sick, because I'm a good coworker. So my work week have only been three days long, but that doesn't mean I'm not tired today - because I am. Work today was hectic. I would say it's been the busiest Friday since I started working where I am now. On top of that, we have an election coming up in November, so all the ads have been VERY tiring to listen to. I might just vote what I usually vote.

In other news: I got my payslips today. Yes, payslips. "But Philipsen, you only have one job, right? Why do you get two payslips?", I hear you ask. That's an excellent question. Let me explain: Before I was hired on a permanent basis, I was a temp worker. I switched from working as a temp worker to work full time half way into a pay cycle. That means I am both getting a salary from the temp agency as well as my permanent job. I will not say how much I am getting paid. I will only say this:

Anyway. I'm not doing the job for the money. I'm on the lowest pay bracket, plus I am paying a little more in taxes than I should, which I am perfectly happy to do. That just means money back to me at the end of the tax year. Money I could use for savings, or for my upcoming trip to the USA.

So to sum up: Work is going good, I am happy and healthy.. Well, 98% healthy, anyway.. Life is good. I don't need anything else than that.

Well.. Maybe someone to share it with, but that's a topic for another blog :)
