From what I can gather, I think we question authority a bit more rather than just electing someone and letting them get on with it. I also think the church over here plays a much bigger role in how things are run, especially here in Ireland so as well as questioning their authority people are beginning to question their own beliefs, because of the 'evil' that has been caused by and done by the church. rather than just believing what their folks and teachers told them, thay are actively researching and seeking out the truth. In the last census here in Ireland, 49% of the adult population said they were non-religious. 2 more percent and we can get them out of our schools!
