drbombay: Not True! A child is impressionable at that point(product of environment) and as you grow and develop your mind, hopefully start to question the things you were taught and be a free thinker and based upon that at least for me depended on my 5 senses and sometimes a 6th sense. I believe as a child it is a form of brainwashing wether by parents or otherwise.
What you believe in your comments above have no doubt become your reality. Do you consider yourself to be brainwashed in such belief? No, you have merely chosen from information available to be a subject of that belief. Age has no play here. Many believe in Allah and experience that belief. Many believe in UFO's. Many believe in no god or godness or creator and they experience that belief.
For you to assume that you are the only unbrainwashed person is faulty. We are all subject to impression no matter what age and all is subjective. <<<--- very important. It is what we believe that anchors us to any particular experience, no matter the age.
I would bet any amount of money that there are times you believe that you have been hurt by another when in actual fact that person had no intention of hurting you, yet brainwashed (to use your word) to the belief you experienced hurt despite it not being true only to find out later that you misinterpretated that person's actions.
It is belief that creates your experience, whether that belief yields a universal truth or not, it is truth to the believer.

No I do not believe I am the only unbrainwashed person Sir, you have the right as anyone to believe in whatever. I was speaking for me "only" as I do not accept what other humans wrote from the past so all I'm saying is I have the right to believe in nothing. I think you misinterpreted but maybe I did not phrase it properly enough for you and to presume I 've been hurt by someone, who hasn't but irrelvant to topic.

the hurting part in that statement was an example to tell how belief may impact a person's actions and conscience .. i think

I do not challenge your rights and or belief or non belief, merely offer the answer to your experience of your belief.
You are the protagonist of your own life. And I certainly do not expect you or anyone to merely accept what others tell you, though doing so is it's own experience as well.
drbombay: You have the right to believe as I do so based on that it's moot to discuss any further. (Does not make us bad people)
it does not make anybody bad or good.
some moments ago i was about to leave the thread as i saw no sense continuing the discussion. there will always be opposite parties in every issue. and everyone has the right to stick to their principles. what is good for me is good for me.
this was a great conversation. thank you everybody
My interpretation of God is personal as is everybody's, I believe that if you put all the profits in one room ie Jesus, Gandhi, Mohammad, Dalai Lhama, Bob Marley, Martin Luther King etc etc then they'd agree on the fundamentals of life/love and peace but if all the disciples were put in one room then they'd disagree on most if not all things.

I believe in God and Jesus, just not much of the bible. Hey, it says in the bible to not worship idols. Many, MANY christians worship the bible. I also do not believe in organized religion as in christianity. I used to be christian. Having seen what organized christianity is made up of, I revoked my christianity.
My 'religion' is now Sourceism. Since I recently made it up, it is NOT organized. I believe in faith and love.
wonderworker: On topic:things like this reflect my concept of God and spirituality. I will not believe in a God of Fear. Amen.

Heh, I think that having any religion is crippling to spiritual growth. Jesus says that the truth will set you free and he denounces religion.
Embracing true salvation and eternal life in Christ is not religion.
crotalus_p: You can not have one with out the other
depends on your definition of god.
absolutes (as you have presented) are generally presented by those unwilling to experience anything that contradicts their absolute posture....and by people who wish to experience the depths of that absolute.

It’s called Christianity and last time I checked it was still a religion
Ps Please quote where "Jesus says that the truth will set you free and he denounces religion."

Oh my, read the new testament. He denounces the pharisees religion and practices throughout. Read the book of James (Jesus's brother)
Also "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (google it)

The word Pharisees (lat. pharisæ|us, -i) comes from the Hebrew ?????? perushim from ???? parush, meaning "set apart" . The Pharisees were, depending on the time, a political party, a social movement, and a school of thought among Jews that flourished during the Second Temple Era (536 BCE–70 CE). After the destruction of the Second Temple, the Pharisaic sect was re-established as Rabbinic Judaism — which ultimately produced normative, traditional Judaism, the basis for all contemporary forms of Judaism, with the exception of the Karaites.
