Those who don't believe in God or Jesus, why don't you? ( Archived) (852)

drbombay: Everyone has a right to his or her belief(ok), so based on that why do believers feel this need to impose their belief on someone else(please spare me of doing me a favor) or your belief of higher power is telling you to do so(again, spare me) for I will make my own decision like everyone. I don't need a church, synagogue, temple etc. to know I'm a good person. My temple is in my heart. I respect if you believe but it seems that people who do not are subjected to yours. If you saw what I have and not saying I'm right(RETIRED NYPD) you begin to question. The only thing I totally object to is that anyone who uses their religion or belief to kill or be killed of another human being cannot be a good person(fanaticism) bottom line and no one can convince me otherwise, end of story, I rest my case.

robplum: I don’t believe in there being a one, god or creator, its an impossibility. If we carefully deliberate on our own psychical make up we find constantly changing cells, nothing in our being is everlasting at best some minerals like calcium that makes up the bones last a while longer. Our temporary human form is impermanent; likewise our thoughts are ever changing.
I accept a view that proposes I am the creator of my ever-changing tomorrows, not some outside force other than collective karmas. After my experience in Vietnam War I studied Tibetan Buddhism, which places the onus of responsibility onto ones self. Though I found the levels of that notion hard to grasp in hindsight I’ve become more certain indeed it is I that put my hand up to defend NZ from the communist hoards and had responsibility of suffering I involved in. In Tibetan Buddhism its our own self-cherishing that brings metal suffering to our minds, our own actions of body speech and mind that creates tomorrows experiences.

brandycuba: I totally agree with you, I have seen many things that make me wonder why. I lost my daughter 4 years ago, she was just born, I did wonder why but life goes on, I know I want to see my baby again and I know Christ is taking care of her. I don't believe anyone should kill in the name of God, the bible says though shall not murder, not though shalt not murder except... I do believe everyone has a right to their own opinion and I am not here to impose my belief on anyone, everyone has free will to read my posts or not, I simply asked a question

longhairedwoman: Today, I jokingly refer to myself as a recovering Catholic, mostly because I feel the word "bad" was branded on my forehead for all to see. In all honesty, I am agnostic, because I am open-minded enough to realize that just because I feel no presence of a higher being doesn't mean there isn't one.

I checked back on this post this morning because I am intrigued by the topic. I have to say it's refreshing to see a post here where people are discussing such a sensitive topic with respect and tolerance for each other.
