Ocee102: I think it's possible for to people to be too alike to make a good couple.

If both people are keeping score, worried about who's really in charge, that relationship's going to suck unless they're both looking for a sparring partner.

Some people are into it, I wouldn't be happy.
Some couples thrive on a constant battle!roll eyes

mollybaby: Alpha females in the wild normally don't either

They are just the natural leaders of the group.
But the male species generally have multiple partners , without being given the "third degree " about his whereabouts the previous evening, or giving his lunch to the dog because he stayed out all night with the lads !

Chimpanzee females take multiple male partners so that when she gives birth, none of the males will kill the baby as it might be his

I don't think male chimps overthink these things.
Probably out looking for the next ride instead

There are humans who have the same attitude.
Personally, I prefer the risk of being killed , than not see my offspring.

Supposedly so, but if you look into it, it is largely an urban myth.

pKrema: Alpha doesn't equal "bossy"...or a big ego...
May be your friend misunderstands the whole situation...
Two alphas can live in harmony and even differences could be ironed and a compromise achieved without getting into some ugly scenes...
The ability to make the other one follow you and accept to follow when you see the reasons for that can not result in a war of "who are you to tell me what to do?!..." sort of...
JMO
Well said, Krema … I believe, as I've told my friend (because she asked), that part of the issue may be a matter of incompatibility. They have been "warring", so to speak … power struggles.

Track16: They will either have to find a way to coexist or it will be doomed. I think its possible but only if they are willing.
At this point, I'm not quite sure they are willing …

Tulefell: A successful relationship requires cooperation. Refusal to cooperate under whatever pretence (as declaring oneself alpha or some such) would equal for me as refusal to maintain the relationship.
Great point. thumbs up You're probably right.

Bogart_1960: hum.. in the wolf world the "alpha male" and "alpha female" do work together. as a team.

Regarding your friends, they are not "alpha" or beta or etc. they are immature.
So they should act more like wolves, and people who label themselves are immature …

Gotcha … wave
