Mary Bevan

Mary was born
in 1881
in family
making up five

times were not easy
but she got through
mary i never knew you

got a job as a domestic
working for a family
hope she was happy

your life was short
and you left too soon
mary i never knew you

as the century turned
to 1901
mary you were gone

one day mary
in heaven
we may meet
prayer said
over you

and on that windy day
the grave where you lay
with your family
my distant family too
mary i have wondered
about you
