lost sheep

Shepherd on a lonely hill
watch the sheep
there resting still

all the number is 100
silent as the
stars look on

come the morning
when you count them
99 there one is gone

so you search
the field and hillside
up the mountain -valley too

you keep looking
for the lost sheep
for it is important too

when at last finally found her
brings her home
with rejoicing heart

no rebuke or criticism
sheep was valued
from the start

nice thoughts, serpico, but what if the sheep left on her own accord, out of the flock? still valued, for sure, but sometimes the shepherd needs to let them wander as they will. just sayin', and i like this piece, well done.
