short marriage

you were waiting, at the courthouse
dressed in your white wedding gown
tapping your toe, looking for me
would never guess where I'd be found
passed out inside a bar room, on the floor
night before, couldn't find the exit door
I left our room last night and went away
was lacking the nerve to face you and say
it seems I never loved you, after all
now I'm too afraid, to even make a call
I never loved you, oh sweet child
seems I'm to forever run wild
'spose I signed divorce papers before we wed
guess she never guessed, I'm out of my head
