Here I sit inside these walls A prison not of my making I stare out through shuttered bars The world revolves around me All you see is a broken shell My chin has drool dribbling There is no way you I can tell Inside this shell here is me

Ok, so, about 3 years ago dad and I grew this big gorgeous sunflower. I was almost blinded when I looked at it, but like most flowers, he didn't stay that bright, and slowly died. His stem, seed pod, and leaves still remained as he sat on the stairs and every day I told myself how much I felt sorry for him, and how I'd write a poem about him. Well, it's 3 years later, better late than never eh?
I wrote this poem a number of years ago in tribute to a man who was not only my boss but also my friend. He was a quiet genius in electronics and one of the earliest developers of cable TV. At one time he owned 9 systems in 4 states. Since this is Memorial Day I thought it fitting to post my poem.
A friends suicide, stirring up memories of others who took the same path and how i relate that to the path i choose for myself
As one grows older the spirits of our loved ones pass us by! Tis the old Question, is there life after death? In a land of paradise or does the cloak of darkness just consume us and we are no more?
The woman slowly through the graveyard walks, She stops a while and at a grave she talks, Oh Jimmy! oh Jimmy! oh why did you go, You were my joy oh didn't you know, On her face she wears a frown, The sky so soft on her looks down, The drizzle

This is actually a song I wrote a few years ago. I returned home from the hospital where my father had been rushed with a serious head injury. We were informed that his chances of survival were slim. I returned home and put on the radio and I heard a story about a farmer who died trapped under a tractor after an accident on a river bank. The farmer's wife was with him and couldn't get any mobile reception to call the flying doctor, nor could she drive back for they arrived together on the tractor. She lay beside him until he died in her arms. I picked up my guitar and wrote this song in the style of a Celtic lament.
Intending to modify the Rose,I elected to write a whole new poem to compliment "A Postcard From Heaven" which I posted in Grieving Mothers. However this poem is posted in a memorial site for the two teens who were killed nearly two years ago(?).The mother friended me on FB because of poems I posted there. She was having trouble coping and my poem helped her see her daughter's death in a different way, which is the best reward I could get.
A Soldier's Cross The soldier had honourably met his fate And as he stood before the gate, He thought he would forever wait But his name was found atop the slate. He asked if he would be sent below For having to kill his country's foe, But

Beneath this tree I'm all alone The ground becomes my bedding Stars so bright, no clouds around The moon a distant figure A gentle breeze to cool my brow The hoot of owl in distance Here is my home beneath the sky This place I want for rest et
