Poetry Town

Driving down poet avenue
I'm looking for rhyme street
It always feels like deja vu
Except this time the rain is turning to sleet

I slip and slide around every turn
I'm stuck in poetry town
In my rearview mirror there is concern
For it looks like I'm heartache bound

Mr winter I'll never find her
The nights are getting cold I'll never see her again
And the tracks I've left in the snow
Reveal all the circles where I've been

How many time have I written it wrong
Now the traffic light on poet avenue is broken down
Where do I go as the night goes on
Looks like I'm stuck in poetry town

A cloud

I would like to become
A white cloud
Sailing across the sky.
A white white cloud
I cannot overcome
My feelings of guilt
And death
I know I will become
A cloud
My pain will leave me
And somewhere
Far away
I will feel warmth again
Like I felt
As a child
I look to the sky
But I still cannot find
The answer I seek
White white cloud

THE FORGOTTEN VETERAN

THE FORGOTTEN VETERAN

A lonely figure walking alone with his thoughts
Carrying memories and pictures in his mind
Of all the faces of those he had fought
Not being able to leave these memories behind

The horrors of war keep coming in his mind’s eye
Not having anyone to share these thoughts with
Thinking of his buddies who could not say goodbye
Of their ultimate sacrifice that they did give

Returning home with no hero welcome
But instead being treated like wartime criminals
Exposed to ridicule and words of venom
Or treated completely like being invisible

Nightmares regularly occurring
Making nights long with very little rest
When suddenly a backfire is a gun firing
Employment possibilities difficult at best

Other illnesses caused by chemicals used
Supposedly as wartime tools
Others ignoring the problem unmoved
Turning their backs on the Vet as a rule

This is the life of many of our Veterans today
Making the future pretty dim and hopeless
Please when you see a Veteran don’t turn away
Thank them and remember - hugs are painless

About this poem:
It is now Memorial Day 2018 - please take time to remember those that "All gave some and Some Gave All" who served/wounded/died defending our Country. 11/2017: Veterans Day - please honor our Vets! In our area we have had 2 or 3 younger Veterans commit suicide in the past 2 weeks. Very upsetting statistics. We need to support the men and women who have given their time and a lot for our protection.

Farewell

Goodbye my friend
My only comrade
You lie forever
In my heart
Destined parting
Promises
A future meeting
Goodbye my friend
Do not say a word
Please don’t be sad
Dying is not new
But we will meet again
Another time
Another life
Another game
To play
Though if it will never
Be the same
Goodbye my friend

I have tried

Little is as always was
When romance still was king
Days of prose and days of poems
And days of songs to sing
I looked across a sea of smiles
And none were turned to me
For old I was in my ways
And not I'm meant to be

In the time of here and now
Another man is sought
His mouth must curse the one he's with
And she'll so be caught
Call her whore, call her slut
To you they will gather
Be like me and show respect
And son you will not have her

I have tried to be the man
That I was taught to be
Do not curse, show respect
Just brought me misery
I sometimes try to wear a mask
And be the cur girls seek
Soon still I find it is not me
Back to romantic geek

About this poem:
Just wish I could be like the guys that seem to have women drooling all over them no matter how badly they treat them. I look at my upbringing and wonder why I wasn't taught to be a bad boy type. They get the girls and no matter what women tell you nice guys not only finish last... They aren't even allowed in the race.

Just Part Of The Crowd

Hello friends and strangers
Been a long time since we met
Hello friends and strangers
How many memories did we forget

Now when we hear laughter
It doesn't sound near as loud
I use to be part of the family
Now I'm just part of the crowd

Oh it's nice to have a reunion
But handshakes don't seem quite as proud
Once I was part of the family
Now I'm just part of the crowd

Far Side Of The Moon

He hasn't had a relationship in nearly twenty years
When it comes to romance he's been on the far side of the moon
For a long time he hasn't shed any tears
He's out of touch and you know he's not returning anytime soon

He's disconnected in the dark
Not a woman in sight to touch his heart
He forgot how to whistle a happy tune
Silence is not golden on the far side of the moon

He has no one to pick flowers for
So what's the point if they should bloom
He'll never pick them anymore
He no longer has a calendar not even for the month of June

His message fades away power supply is nearly gone
Is it fair this should be his doom
Not even nasa can bring him home
And he's stranded on the far side of the moon

Lonely Side Of Town

Taxi take me down to the lonely side of town
My tears I need to hide
Along the walk by the riverside

I need a special place to pray
And ask the Lord to take my burdens away
The skies have been so gray

And there's no love around
Taxi take me down
To the lonely side of town

My mind needs some space
From this crazy rat race
My soul and my spirit need a heavenly embrace

Today that old muddy river doesn't make a sound
Taxi take me down
To the lonely side of town

Tears Of The Sun

by Wayne Palesado

Face drenched in liquid.
Redden in emotional turmoil.
Pain of the hour.
Hope flicking as drops pour slowly down flesh.
The internal depth of self is a flood overflowing.
Seeping out into vision.
So long dry in fear others to ridicule .
Emptiness felt in the daily pattern of numbness.
The sands of time run thin.
Wish you could exist without the consent need to fill the cup.
Animals are within my steps.
No room to venture in this commute that limits the insight.
Melting down until there's nothing left.
Want to freeze in this moment.
So the flow of tears halt before all is gone

Hollow den

by Wayne Palesado

Traveling to the dwelling of solitude.
Witness to the urban lions within their territories
Falling in the clutches of envy of the social animal gathering.
Time spent in fantasy is an addiction within the disenchantment.
Vocal devices fall silent as the door opens to the dark chamber.
Years have multiplied in these barren halls of the soulless.
Floors tear soaked as one hears the laughter outside this lone chamber.
The unchanging scenery has grown tiresome
Yet a comfort none the less of familiarity.
Formulate activities to distract from the clock's movement.
Still the sting of the hours feeds the inner torment.
The search to unlock this imprisonment.
Celebrations attended was your attempted escape.
Yet the dark chamber lingers within.
