Youthful

When I talked to the young, they had no reply, except to say,
We are young, it's you that will die,
I tried to explain life does not work that way, its all fun and games,
until the day, the day that you pay,
And no one does know, from day to day, where life will lead us,
or when we will go,
Youthful thoughtlessness, can never be wrong, it's the same hymn sheet
that was our song,
We knew better, we knew it all, now, most of my friends are long gone!

The Movie Has Been Over A long Time

Now that I'm older
I have the script I know the lines
But the movie has been over
For such a long long time

For years you have walked beside another guy
And I have never entered your mind
That's what I get for being shy
Yes the movie has been over a long time

But now I would know my mark
I would know every cue
But I was rehearsing in the dark
All the time I was missing you

Softly the music plays and the credits roll away
My name is nowhere on the screen for anyone to find
And I have only one line left to say
The movie has been over a long time

Had You Told Me Yesterday

Had you told me yesterday
I would not be waiting on tomorrows tears
The silence of your precious heart
Is still ringing in my ears

Such a distant goodbye
As you drove down the road
The smoke from your old car
Has left a giant scar as it strangled my soul

Now a man of solid blue
Is what I'll always be
Had you told me yesterday
Now I'll always remember that's when you turned twenty three

Tractor broke down in the garden
Clothesline on the ground after a strong wind
Had you told me yesterday
I would never see you again

The Girl with sad brown eyes

Perhaps you saw me walking on the street with my head hanging down and you wondered why..perhaps you saw ne at my desk at work with my head hanging down and you wondered why..maybe you thought to yourself why such a beautiful lady is always looking down. If you only knew ...the beating last night was because I burnt his dinner...This morning it was because I forgot to iron his shirt. So next time you see me with my head hanging down..don't wonder . Speak to me words of encouargement and life..

Is Anything Slow Anymore

Is anything slow anymore
A slow day a slow way
A feeling of belonging to a place and time
Now try to rest your mind

In the land of milk and honey
Is there anybody
Somebody who can tell me for sure
Is anything slow anymore

Sunrise sunset fast train fast jet
And the newsman reports the news faster than you can place a bet
That everything is going down the drain
People don't even know your name

Now it's digital preplanned programmed
Life has become just a scam
And here am I
Wondering who I am

We use to live on less
Now we can't live on more
Now time is faster than regret will it ever be like before
Is anything slow anymore

It Always Sounded The Same

I don't like the numbness in my brain
I don't like the poverty in my name
Destiny was never here
And I could never tell where

No vibe to guide no wave to ride
No choice but to collide with pain
And the sound that's mine to cry
It always sounded the same

From a poor boy to a poor man
In a poor land where the wind carried me like the sand
And between a rock a hard place is where I got caught
With no luck and nothing to add up pull on the reins and call it naught

After plowing ground I can turn around and see that very little grew
And the only change my hair is less my hair is gray my chances left are few
So write it down write it right write it wrong write a song
Just another dream another chance to sing another day has come and gone

WAR POEM

SHAME

Hello you world leaders
Do you hear the knocking, yelling
and screaming from under ground
Shouting nay begging for your help

Little did they know, all on deaf ears,
their fears much worse than yours
in your shiny suits,
just counting the dead.

You are as bad as the bombers leader
who like a little boy sneer,s
Like a greedy boy, who takes what he wants
Whilst you sit and COUNT

Will shame ever catch up with you
In the future years when a land
is flat and has no young
All under tyrannical rule

Which make no bones
will turn on you
IN THE END

Lost Freedom

Flapping growing tired
Freedom is invisible
Sits so forlorn,Caged

Took a peek

What a wreck of a week
If only I hadn’t taken a peek
The ground beneath me feet
Noting but sleet
You sniffed me around
like a hound
following me around
I tried to run
You knocked me down
dragged me through the mud
Twisted me around
looked me in the eye
Said today you won’t die
you wanted my soul
I never felt so cold
I would never give my soul to you
Truth be told
You’re nothing but
A dirty old troll

A part of me

Nervously,I sat on the beach
This is the first time we would meet
The little girl ran to the water
She looked like just like my daughter
Her eyes sparkled
Her lips formed a pout
Leaving me no doubt
It was she I’ve waited to meet
My heart skipped a beat
She quickly came running to me
She gave me a hug
My heart she tugged
She was like a little dove
She was the girl I had always loved
She held my hand
Our feet in the sand
