Elusive Love

Lying in bed at the day's final hour, I am troubled by the solitude in which I once found comfort. The sense of security that I once felt has dissipated to reveal a desperation unlike any other.
As I close my eyes, I await sweet slumber and the freedom it brings from the troubled life I live. My consciousness fades and my heart takes flight, painting a beautiful scene of romance.
Relaxing under an old oak tree, I look to my soul mate lying next to me and take her hand in mine. We gaze into each other's eyes, conveying the unspoken desire within our hearts.
I look to the sky and can't help but notice the growing light from the afternoon sun, forcing me to turn away.
I am awakened by the morning light pouring through my window. It is then that I find myself lying in bed, staring at the empty space beside me once again.

HOG HAVEN

I HOPE THERE IS SUCH A PLACE; FOR THE WAY THEY ARE TREATED ON EARTH; IS SUCH A DISGRACE! THERE ARE SLAUGHTER HOUSES, WHERE BABIES ARE SCREAMING, WHILE THEIR PARENTS ARE MERCILESSLY TAKEN! TO WITNESS SUCH HORROR, WOULD SURELY LEAVE ANYONE QUITE SHAKEN! THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY; AND I AM LIVING FOR THAT DAY, WHEN PEOPLE CAN LIVE SOLELY ON PIZZA, WITH TONS OF CHEESE, AND OTHER INGREDIENTS; THAT ARE DESIGNED TO PLEASE! LET US ALL UNITE TO SAVE THOSE PRECIOUS HOG FAMILIES; AND ONE DAY THE HOGS WILL SAY; THANK YOU SO MUCH EARTH PEOPLE FOR WE HAVE FINALLY FOUND A PLACE, WHERE WE CAN BE SAFE, RUN AND PLAY, FOR IN HOG HAVEN; WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THE START; OF A NEW DAY!

Lonely Found A Place To Park

It's been a long day now
What can I say now
The night is here and it's dark
And lonely found a place to park deep within my heart

I had a nice masquerade for awhile I sat in the shade
Thought I had it made then evening fell and put a spell
Of sadness in my heart
When lonely found a place to park

Everybody is saying goodnight
Moma's tell their kiddies to sleep tight
Bad luck is never polite outside an old dog barks
And lonely found a place to park

Lost Love

All she wanted was to feel loved
Mother didn't want her
Wouldn't give her up
Nothing she could do was ever good enough
No matter how hard she tried
She was made to cry
She always tried to please
Only to be teased
She began to act tough
Only made life rough
Her self esteem was poor
She was always being called a whore
If only they knew
She had never been kissed
She became a mother
She fed her children with lots of love, hugs and kisses
Mother didn't break her
She cause her to set a goal
To love her children more then life itself
This little girl with a great big soul

OH BLESSED ROOSTER

YOU VOLUNTEER TO PROTECT THE HENS, AND CROW TO ALERT MANKIND OF THE APPROACHING DAWN; TIME TO GET UP AND GET READY FOR A NEW MORN! LAST WEEK, I WATCHED THREE ROOSTERS PLAYING MERRILY IN A FIELD; I WAVED TO THEM, AND ONE LOOKED AT ME, AND I FELT HIM SAY; HI TRAVIS; THANKS FOR CARING; AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! I RETURNED LATER WITH SOME FOOD FOR MY NEW FOUND FRIEND; ONLY TO DISCOVER, THAT TRAGEDY HAD BEFALLEN THEM; AND THEY HAD REACHED A HORRIBLE END! I PLACED THEIR BODIES UNDER A HUGE BEAUTIFUL TREE; WHERE THEY WOULD FOREVER BE WATCHED OVER SO HEAVENLY! OH BLESSED ROOSTER; ONE DAY, WHEN YOU SEE THE MONSTERS BEING BROUGHT TO JUSTICE; JUST BREAK OUT IN A BIG SMILE; AND BLOW THEM A KISS!

Cut Out Pain

The pain is in me
The pain will not leave me
The pain is all I feel in me

Cut out my heart
Cut out my emotions
Cut out my pain

Only in darkness do i find peace
Only in darkness can I escape
Only if this darkness could stay

Cut out my heart
Cut out my emotions
Cut out my pain

When The World Falls In

When the world falls in,
You can deny.
When the world falls in,
You can grasp at securities,
The bricks and mortar,
Of belief and self.
The castle of safety,
The certainness of breath.
But when the world falls in,
Pride vanishes,
And a deep chasm appears.
The desert sands,
Consume your soul,
The scaffolding is removed,
And what is left?
The shadow,
Of that gleaming dream,
For which you truly believed.

MY DARLING DARLING

SAY IT ISN"T SO! I HOPED AND PRAYED, THAT YOU WOULD NEVER GO! CAN WE GIVE IT ONE MORE CHANCE; OR IS IT THE END OF OUR ROMANCE! I WILL GO ON AND SO WILL YOU;WE HAD SOMETHING SPECIAL, WHICH IS GRANTED TO SO MANY FEW! IN THE YEARS TO COME; HE SHALL FIND YOU; UPON WHICH YOU WILL TIE THE KNOT, AND BECOME ONE! I WISH THE BEST TO BOTH OF YOU! I WILL SURVIVE AND FIND LOVE ANEW!

Zombie !

No more to live in earthly mould,
Though siblings not bereft ?
Despair in me did clasp it's hold,
My spirit long since left.

No funeral pyre, no gaping clay,
Not one sad mourning tear,
No blood red rose, nor white bouquet,
Was flung upon my bier.

For me, no sudden tragic end,
But slowly perished inside,
A veil of sorrow to descend,
When close-blood kinfolk died.

Lymphoma slowly sapped my life,
Such ills did I abhor,
Then as lost love increased the strife,
I decayed a little more.

No one aware that I've passed on,
Appearing to all just fine,
I smile and laugh, 'til yarns are spun,
And die more every time.

Finally reduced to hollow shell,
This world, my mind it warps,
I wander in this lifeless hell,
An aimless moping corpse.

About this poem:
Although this contains excerpts from my life,
the theme of the poem is not about me.
I wrote it to show respect to people who
slip into deep depression and become totally
disconnected from normal living.

Sleeplessness

She can't sleep at night
She lays awake in bed
Trying to slow things down in her head
She tosses and turns
kicking her bed
She looks out of the window
Sees shadows dancing around
As her mind wanders
She remembers the days she could sleep
She had a man to keep
Now all she feels is defeat
She tells herself not to weep
In time God will send her a man to keep
Now if she would only go to sleep
