Alone
Ghost Story
It is a cold, dark, eerie night, in Scotland, as it was
Halloween in Glengourie Castle, as the party has
Broken up for the night and people where going home
In their cars, some people decide to walk accross
The foggy moors and bogs in the area, there
Are four close friends who are walking home.
The bogs are notorious, for deaths around the Carlyle
Area, but notwithstanding this the four friends continue
Their walk across the moors as it is a short cut to their
Homes, they decide to say goodbye as two of them
Reach their home, while the other two friends keep
Walking, they are unaware of the softness in the
Ground, due to very heavy rainfall, their torches
Where, starting to dim and the fog was becoming
Difficult to navigate, they become seperated for a
Moment and the girl steps into a bog, she calls to her
Friend, he hears her but cannot rescue her as his torch
Has gone out, meanwhile she starts struggling but sinks
Deeper into the muddy bog, her partner tries to
Get help as he is like a blind man, but notices
A glowing light in the distance, he has reached the town,
He tries to organise a rescue party to go back into the
Moors to find his girlfriend, they manage to reach the
Spot where she fell in but found no trace of her
The bog had claimed yet another victim.
In the morning the young man walked back to the spot
Where his girlfriend fell, and to his amazement she was
There large as life, sitting on a large rock, he asked her
Where she was all last night she never answered him
But smiled at him, he asked her to come home with him
She started to walk, he glanced forward and then turned
Around to talk to her but she had vanished, the young
Man walks home, wondering who he was talking to,
Was it his girlfriend Jessie or a living ghost, he would
Never go through the moors again, as he could never
Be sure that she would reappear again, after this incident
The road through the moors was closed to the public
As it was much too dangerous to use as a short cut.
A plaque was put at the front of the site by Kenneth
As a tribute to Jessie his beloved girlfriend, she is gone
Now, but her memories will live forever.

My first written poem for the new year 2013, it starts with a journey into the supernatural world with...."Ghost Story", set in eerie Scotland around Halloween time.
The Prisoner
All I have are words
All I know is thought
And the movement of time
Cannot set me free
I've been left behind
A prisoner to be
Unheard and denied
Searching for a key
The chains of day and tomorrow
Are but a spell in my mind
Freedom I ask to borrow
But my life has surely stopped on a dime
If a conversation to be
A date far away and unknow
The prisoner knows his tradegy
And if no one comes to talk

This Old Tree!
This Old Tree!
Is there more like me of decaying wood?
Growing old and grey
Standing lonely on the hill
With craggy arms outstretched
Leggy roots makes for an unsteady tree
Ready to fall asunder, under earth crust evermore
Shorn of leaves, now in winter’s life
Cold and dreary days
Waiting for the windy last stand
of life’s falling snow
Cold as winter’s wind blown lands

I will soon get to know

About this poem:
this is not a complete list of all the gun deaths since the sandy hook tragedy...and gun violence was much worse during this time span two years ago. for practical purposes, all the weaponry one should actually need in our nation is a shotgun and a single shot rifle...if they should need any at all (in my humble opinion).

Was use and throw away
Secret of the Rose
Oh the rose that blooms so sweet
The fragrance upon the wind
A gentle rose with petals frail
And thorns to pierce the skin
Reds and yellows to gladden the heart
And lift the spirits high
But deep inside the beautiful rose
Hide all the tears that I cry
Underneath the scented petals
Hidden away from view
Lies a world that only I can see
It's hidden away from you
I love the rose like a dear, dear friend
It comforts me when I am sad
The yellow hue lightens my heart
And tells of happiness to be had
But oh what pain when that rose dies
And the petals fade away
For then the world sees what is inside
The tears for which I must now pay

For many years the only way I let my feelings out was writing, but nobody ever read it. I didn't believe enough in myself. Things sure have changed :)Which Way?
Two roads loom ahead
To the right - a well worn path
Looks inviting - comfortable
Cluttered with old objects
Vaguely disturbing
But hauntingly familiar
Easy - no doubt
To the left - an untrodden trail
Looks unused - lonely
Nothing is recognizable
The shadows beckon
A very hard step to take
And in between
Lies limbo
Where fears are hidden
Doors are locked
And the tears I cry
Cannot be seen
Yet I know
I must push forward
I need to find life
I need to live life
I need to let go
To be a free spirit
Unafraid of what life offers
Willing to take a chance
To find it
But then I think...
Familiar???
It is good - right???
Somehow comforting
Though lonely

That you can't bear to throw away
Easily and readily available
Turmoil overflows
Right or left
Decision must be made -
I am afraid!

This poem was written years ago when I had to make a very hard choice. I definately was not the person then that I have now become :)of the beholder
brushing away the light of distortion
total blackness
well...total blackness for all but one as I
for I am without sight
enabling me to see far past the veneer
well enough to 'try men's souls', if you would
all the layers are peeled back
all is exposed
as that, which they are
as thee, whom they are
that's why you don't see a lot of pretty paintings
...from blind artists
reality is none too pretty
and trust me...I've got a good eye
