Author: Mama Harper (Mama's Family: Season 4
Once upon a time
There lived two evil children
They went into the woods looking for mischief
And they found it
A house made out of candy!
So the two thieving kids started eating the roof
The nice old lady who lived inside heard the commotion
She did the only nice thing she could do
She threw the two brats into her oven and made gingerbread men
She then took them to the fair and won a blue ribbon
The end

About this poem:
I heard this story told on Mama's Family Season 4. The one where Mama has to babysit a mean kid. It is a funny episode as this kid ties mama up, fills the bathroom with shaving lather, draws on her table clothe, and many other pranks.

He sat stiffly at
the end of the bar.
His face sagging and
covered with scars.
He thought back on why
he was at this place.
That fair young lady
covered in satin and lace.
He asked the bartender
for another drink.
Maybe one more shot
would help him think.
She wanted a strong hero
fresh from the war.
But, she had no idea
just what was in store.
She not only got the
strong man she had seen.
She got his burdens of war,
which was like a bad dream.
The sleepless nights and
shadows always in the corner.
She found that this hero
was destined to be a loner.
One night she was gone,
a feather in the wind.
So, he headed to the bar
to let the drinking begin.

With each step, I hear naught but wind
Blowing over land.
This world of evergreen and brown
Laying under hand.
Every step, a silent step,
A carnal world of lore.
Under foot the bones of Earth
The Humans haven’t torn.
I feel the wind of Mother’s lungs,
The whispers of the world,
A world of shadows evergreen,
A map to God unfurled.
This place without the shadowed grave
Without Death or Vice.
I thank the world for garden fare,
A world without the time.
To be one with Earth, the mighty bones,
What finally is mine.

What have i been missing?
Humor, light and another's love?
And the love of self in selfless love.
Why do i perpetually weave seeds
of poison vine
Through the skin of my crimson heart
To fill with death the empty chambers of fear?
Why do i paint in bright colors and bead
the shell of a spoiled fruit that is black
and the toxins permeate all that it touches?
Pity and fear.
They prevent the apple or the pear
From being what is truly sacred:
An alter to the beauty of the world
And an open window to the souls of light.

Years ago, I found God. I suppose
He never left. I wanted to live a life
separate from rule and regulation.
Happy at first, I cried in joy.
Like an insidious cancer, it returns,
The Sin.
To slowly pull away.
I thought I could handle it. I thought
I could roller skate up a mountain.
Whilst backsliding becomes Standard
Operating Procedure.
Filled with the spirit of chronic
Self-deprecation, my worth is anything
but, one moment but not the next.
Despite ALL this, I dare to hope. To dream.
TO hope and dream for fortunes untold, all
of non-monetary value.
To believe in a paradise where tears are
Irrelevant and a caress is simple.

The four points of the compass gyrate around,
The plane creaks as it rushes to groung.
Tragedy looms as the captain had said,
One engine gone and the others dead.
Two hundred souls and a crew of eight,
Falling downward with gravities weight.
The flight was normal, all well on the way,
Our speed and direction had shortened the day
And tinted sunclouds were fading to grey.
An explosion somewhere, flames and a rip
Port wing down and all things slip.
Lights dim and fear fills the cabin
The young scream and the old are crying.
All life's hopes are leading to this?
Each one plunging to the black abyss.
The four points of the compass gyrate around
Atomic shower as plane meets ground.
Tragedy came as the capatin had said,
One engine gone now all is dead.

About this poem:
In 1980 I flew to Zambia. In fact then and now I fly often enough to experience emergencies.
In 1980 considered what could happen.
I prepared myself by writing this poem.

Rich and famous, world at theyre feet
A few miles away, people live on the street
Thousand pound handbags,diamonds and gold
Another pensioner dies from the cold
Luxury cars,the new gucci dress
Shut out the starving, thats not our mess
The pool..it needs cleaning for tonights bash
A hungry young family could do with the cash
Lets go play some golf, then have a fine meal
Third world starvation, that aint no big deal
My iphone six,my prada shoes
Tsunamis and floods,,quick...turn off the news
My new rolex watch,,oh...pass the champagne
The focus on wealth....The world is insane..

This world of hope and dreams, locked away behind steel laden walls never to be. Fake kisses with a goal, hiding behind a canopy of lies. Soulless dreams in a puritanical fantasy, this is what virtual love has become to me.
