The Exam

Too much I cannot cope
Words just keep on floating
Clavicle, femur, cranium and more
The teacher sits there gloating

Sternum, scapula, mandible, patella
I think I lost their meaning
If I don’t pass this test
It will be ever so demeaning

IT'S COMPLICATED ( A Palindrome)

--=-=-=-=-=--
Do not run
Do not go
Do not do it
You said.

But I wanted to
I said.

And what to do now
I don't know how

--=-=-=-=-=--
IT'S COMPLICATED
--=-=-=-=-=--

I don't know how
And what to do now

I said,
But I wanted to.

You said,
Do not do it
Do not go
Do not run.

A Foxy Smile So Demure

Stars and diamonds so azure
There’s nothing left to assure
No matter how much I conjure
Or try to blot out as obscure
There really is no easy cure
No chance for quick detour
You draw me in like a lure
Your beauty always will endure
I love what you posses so pure
A foxy smile so demure

white rose

a thousand saints
would fall myrtre
in a heavenly hue
you are the fairest
by far the prettiest
in purest of colours
mirror, mirror
amazingly georgous
purity indepth vision
white rose

most beautiful
satin soft petals
falling from the heart
outwards crowning
heavenly beauty

sweetest aroma
drifting on air
upon scent
prettiest of all flowers
in thorns you
played the part

deep inside
invites from colour
the softest kiss
upon light of day

mirror ,mirror
caressed so sweetly
in the rising sun
by the morning dew
beautiful
within

Played a fool

Played a fool
Cried enough tears to fill a pool
I thought you were my missing jewel
I was never anything more then a toy
Used by you, a baby boy
Took away all of my joy
You knocked me down
Give me a week
I'll be back on my feet
I'm glad I saw you for who you are
Time to get in my car
Drive away far
There has to be somebody who will love me
Now to dust off my knees
dry my eyes
Hear no more lies
Say my good byes

Remembering the Irish Famine !

Old lichen mottled headstones
Mark the graves of women and men,
Whose genocide sparked Ireland's
Freedom flame,
In their pallid hands
were shovels,
No schooling for a pen,
Fuelled by starving bellies
bow in shame.
Poverty stricken darkened days
of cruel and rampant blight,
The stench of rotten spuds
rose from the clay,
Cold families around a bleak turf fire
another hungry night,
Gaunt faces like potatoes
in decay.
A million sailed from homeland shores
Like wild absconding slaves,
In agony they fled to find relief,
And countless died on coffin ships
Then laid in watery graves,
Consumed by vile disease
And woeful grief.
But memory fades as time erodes
And youth won't recollect,
An hegemonic crown
That gorged on Irish grain,
Our ancestors the starving dead
Oppressed to genuflect,
Interred beneath cold seething clods,
Forgotten not their pain !

About this poem:
In 1845 more than 1 million people died
in Ireland from starvation when blight disease wiped out the potatoe crop. At the time Ireland was under British rule and suffered much oppression. To the present day the population hasn't recovered.

Spring Breeze

How do you make your eyes
Smile at me like an orchid
Dancing in a field of grass
Drawing me closer and closer
Circling like a hungry bee
Thirsting to taste your nectar
Still I dare not touch you
Can I hold back
And just hover
My love forever
Why am I so afraid
I'll never hurt someone
As beautiful as you
Until you really see
How fragile is my love
How much I need you
As much as you need me
As tender as our lips
Softly as you please
So is Love as gentle
As a spring breeze

A Roundup For MacDuff :)

Feral words that demand freedom
Strain against the trap of my heart;
Wild eyed and stomping,
They quiver, whirl and falsely start.

They struggle in their confinement
Jostling, circling they seek escape;
Round the perimeters
They somehow form and shape.

Feral words that demand freedom
Have charged and broken down the gate;
Bucking and snorting,
They run blindly into their fate.

A great abyss swallows them whole
They run through the bit and it's pull;
Never to be seen again
Words escaped from a heart too full.

About this poem:
Defining words of horses. This was written on an observation of rounded up two-year old colts and fillies. At birth they are imprint trained, halter and lead broke. Then they are turned out to pasture to grow and thrive. At their two year birthday, they are rounded up and vaccinated, gelded as needed and saddle trained. Imprint training works wonders. After a few tense moments, they settle down and remember the imprint training. They handle very well and training them is a breeze. :-)

Midnight Concophany!

Moonlight stroll Seashore
Gritty sand tickling soft toes,
Distant whale cries, lullaby,
Sea foam slapping rocks,
Scent of wet sand slight taste of sea-salt
Gulls screeching Good night!
