aboue life

Build around you walls of beauty,
corrals of goodness,
rivers of justice..
..and evil will be far from you.

(in the Grace of God, under the Karma of Buddha, in the Fate of Universe).

The way of Silence

Can you hear it? Do you see it? Can you feel it? Do you sense it?
Above the noise, beyond the way, within your soul, around your space?
Ever illusive, in this world’s busy, riotous global-pool of activity,
Silence has faded away.
No more golden, it’s now so rare as to be priceless.
Say nothing; keep still. Invite it into the solace again.
Let it wrap around you - your mind, body and soul -
So that it can soothe you. So that it can repair you. So that it can teach you
The way of Silence.

To this we belong

When the stars forget it is night
and the air is carved open with scent
then I shall lie with you
as the fields lie open
each gesture a gift
to spurn parting of ways
for on this day
contentment has found me
all the hours pass
like wandering dunes
the sea forever plays
a shanty to our rhythm
to this we must belong

The War on Christmas

There is only one and it’s major,
Started by a devil masquerading as saviour.
It is over 5700 miles away,
And to everyone’s horror and dismay,
13000 Ukranian civilians are dead,
Over 7.8 million refugees have fled.
Day after day bombarded,
And plunged into darkness,
Were towns and cities in Ukraine,
by bombs and missiles that maimed,
And turned buildings and streets to rubble,
And its people to dust. This is not us.
We don’t see this kind of trouble.
Not here anyway, Not in the West.
For them there is no rest,
Only a yearning for turning
to former day from endless night.
They see only by candlelight
and the glow of fires burning.
There is no “War on Christmas”
Not here. This is foolishness,
Here there are just many well-meaning folks,
Raising glasses making toasts,
Wether “Merry Christmas “ or “Happy holidays”
May goodwill guide us all our days.

Happy New Year everyone!

Have Mercy on the Animals

Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.

See the little fawn, move too fast and she'll be gone.
She knows to run away, when the hunter comes to spoil her play.

Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.

Mother Cow's out in the field, so much milk she can yield.
Father bull he tills the land, providing grain for beast and man.

Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.

See the birds up in the tree, they also have their families.
Build their nests way up high - just like you they don't want to die.

Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.

Have Mercy, the mercy will be shown to you.
Have Mercy, and mercy will be shown to you.

First Christmas Morn

The sky was dark with sprinkles of stars
An extra bright star shone from afar
In the silence was a loud baby’s cry
While in the Heavens there was a wonderful sigh

God had come down as a small child
Holy – so tender and mild
Wondrous Angels singing on high
As they hovered in the night sky

Shepherds witnessing the wondrous birth
3 Kings bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh
Our long awaited Savior had been born
On that first beautiful Christmas morn

forsaken

deep past the arrival of eve's night
long after the throng of the city's holiday paraders have gone
he is left far from the crowd, hopelessness his only companion
the avenues mostly still, mostly silent
the homeless panhandler remains in an alley
set against a structure where exhaust vents release warmth from below
he is posed for yet another long night's passing
the only place available to him where a freezing death may not find him
sleep may or may not come for him
half a bottle of wine might offer some comfort, for a short while anyway
as he sips his salvation, he journeys in mind
on a road traveled often, destination never to be found
where his future may lead him, he knows not
it seems that he has always merely tried to last into the following day
with a grimace he muses of tomorrow
when the sun rises next, it will be christmas day
not the best of days for him
truth be told, it could be only the worst
for he knows very well what this will mean
that his usual routine of finding nourishment will not exist
there will be no bakeries tossing out old bread
no eateries filling trash dumpsters with food deemed unfit for customers
only a mere fragment of passers-by from whom to solicit
but most folks crossing his path on this day will be just like him
with little to offer, not even a smile
snapping out from his speculation, he hunkers down upon the grate
trying to escape the bitter cold winds that seem to blow through him
he has found something to concentrate on
this is all that he has
so, we should all take this little tale to bed with us tonight
and recall it tomorrow as we enjoy our great feasts
in the warm comfort of home, with family and friends
for under the fate of circumstance
…every man could be a homeless man

Life-Journey

Life is indeed God’s greatest gift
From one phase to another always we shift
A journey from cradle to grave
Life is moving life is brave
The first sound of a baby is crying
Gradually the world teaches new things to try
Pampered love pouring from all directions
A child starts to think and perform actions
Wearing the identity of a student
For knowledge and growth to schools we are sent
We learn the meaning of water fire sky and air
How to tie a shoelace how to comb one’s hair
In us future professionals are seen
With thickening books it soon flies the sweet age of the teen
We learn to move out of the cities and towns
Our aim becomes to wear degree convocation gowns
With efforts we get grades and good marks
Light of education enters removing all darks
Our horizon continues to expand with time
Management and technology become the field's prime
On completion of our degrees and courses
We join medicine economy technology or security forces
In the global arena the contributions we make
We live for ourselves and for our loved ones’ sake
For belongingness grooming love and care
We enter into a wedding and form a pair
Proving their point soulmates are seen to be hell-bent
There has never any couple without any argument
Still family life is charming warming and sweet
That’s what these elders write talk and tweet
Life has to lift up many more lids
Family expands with the entry of chirpy kids
Never knew parenting was so tough
Bringing up children is no kid stuff
Parenting however makes a lot of sense
Parent-child relation is very deep and dense
Together they stay like a plate and a cup
Bringing up the next generation the way they were brought up
Life is sloping down after reaching its height
Children have settled now life has become quiet
Retired life is knocking the door
Memories become alive more and more
The third generation is ready to land on earth
A continuing wheel is the cycle of birth
Happiness re-appears like the pouring of rain
Grandparenting brings back life luster again
Now comes our ultimate goal
Returning back to the supreme soul
People mourn on the death or demise
It is life’s another stage be wise
One day we enter into a deep sleep
Into the almighty’s lap we take a giant leap
All of us agree in toto
After death we are reduced to a photo
In this existence life is the longest road
Where the last destination is heavenly abode
The soul is above the pleasure pain harmony or world wars
Moves ahead of the Sun Moon planets and stars
Eternal is this fact and really true
Life always aims for a stage new
This is almighty’s greatest boon
A soul migrates and talks re-birth soon
This is the story from cradle to grave
Life is moving life is brave
Beautiful and vibrant is life’s game
Any part of the world the process remains the same
Life is survival and health
Health is our only true wealth
Maintain a decent profile
Keep a healthy lifestyle
If you are free of illness and diseases
Joy multiplies and sorrow decreases
Life becomes glowing sunshine
Fortune and success fall in line
In life never be bitter
Smile and spread some glitter
Life has all the shades of a rainbow
So shall we reap so shall be sow
Disharmony causes tremendous pain
Destruction never brings any gain
It is life’s greatest error
Shunning peace and promoting terror
Life is Maths friends are added
No place for foes they are subtracted
Joys get multiplied by sharing
Sorrows are divided by caring
World progress has climbed new heights
The human ego is however the cause of all fights
All resources can bring in a lot of synergies
Nations are however after weapons and nuclear energy
Life is a thrill life is fun
Shoot with a camera instead of a gun
Plant trees and check growing pollution
Together let’s find an environmental solution
Life is not a gamble or a rolling dice
Promote love make the world a paradise
Almighty has given it as a great prize
Enjoy and live life king-size

Southern Santa

About time we had a southern Santa
he can come from the South Pole
dressed in red and white board shorts
given its summer and all
a little sun tan going on would do him good
he always looks so damn pasty
penguins instead of reindeer
no-one has a chimney here any more
so he can leave gifts at my back door
hell I've been good all year Santa
hardly been a ranter
sticking to the Fanta
just a little banter
take life at a canter
Enough!

My Old Friend

One can never ask
For such things as
When we are given
The right time and
The right place perhaps
We were fortunate then
We are fortunate now
We’ve known each other
For a long, long time
Since before we were born
Since before the grave
How else can we describe
The life we were given
The childhood memories
Growing up on the same street
Living next door to each other
Playing with our matchbox toys
In a pile of sand
Left over by the plow
There were spring tulips
And tender green meadows
And our summer gardens
Then the stiff leaves rustling
In the chilly fall air
The big snowstorms brewing
And our snow forts
The street lights burning
Above our blue igloos
There was you my friend
And there was me
