Work

The last time I heard a song I liked that was new
Was Bad Guy by Billie Eilish
Now a new song has emerged
Rich Men North of Richmond by Oliver Anthony
It talks of low wages matched with low value of the US dollar
My Dad once said, "I never made that much when I was working."
I said Dad you got it all wrong
In today's dollars your 13 dollars an hour(1979) would be worth over 54 dollars today
Can you imagine the lifestyle I would have if I made over 100 grand a year?
Like Ross Perot said in 1992, Trickle down economics didn't trickle folks
I see it played out in every job I ever had
It's not just the low pay, it's the poor treatment at all of these places
Many have just given up and went on drugs or welfare
It's a damn shame what the world's come to
For people like me and people like you

I Would Try

I would try
But I know that your best
Is better by far than mine

You are much smarter than me
But I wouldn't want you to see
A one sided love that was blind

So one last kind farewell
Knowing we will never meet again
I would try but I know, you see the best in him

Summer Fairies

With horse chestnut leaf wings,
and the softest light steps;
by old willows still pond,
came the granting of dreams.

To a secret walled garden,
they danced with raised knees;
fair sylvan fairies,
following soft summer seeds.

Around old verdant paths,
to the bearded moss bench;
skipped the winged dyad daughters,
under a sky without tears.

'To Pooh-stick Bridge',
one young daughter then cried;
with a twirl of her hem
and wave of her wand.

Down the woods sun dappled path,
alongside the chuckling stream;
guided by the small hand,
of the fairest fairy queen,

Journeyed three searching
for the pixie-up-sticks,
A small one; and a short one;
and a knobbly one still on the tree.

With horse chestnut leaves still,
and the softest lights stepped;
from their own Pooh-stick bridge,
came the descending until,

To the other side all excited,
they whirled round to see;
All shinny faced fairies,
until winners counted three.

Around pine cones and acorns,
over blades of lighted grass;
flew the leafing winged sisters,
under a sky without loss.

But someone old and summer passing
broke the enchantment that day;
and their wands went in the rubbish;
and cried for wings dried away.

Maybe Your Eyes Could Tell Me

Maybe your eyes could tell me
That you'll always love me
Maybe your eyes could tell me
You're gonna kiss me tenderly

I know they are so blue
And oh how they shine
But when I look at you
I'm speechless and I'm so inclined

To just stand there and stare
So if you care if you really do
Maybe you're eyes could tell me
That your love for me is true

Maybe I could tap my shoes with morse code
But when you are near I freeze in place
If this love story could ever be told
Maybe your eyes could tell me you long for a sweet embrace

Maybe your eyes could tell me
Just how every tomorrow could be
Maybe your eyes could tell me
You're gonna kiss me tenderly

Pain

Write me a story
Tell me a poem
Sing me a song
Please don’t leave me all alone
My head is spinning
My gut hurts
My heart broken
Into a thousand pieces
I’ve never been in such pain
I’ve never seen the stars so bright
Please somebody make it night
I lay in bed time never ticks away
Tell me I’ll be alright
Maybe I can sleep tonight

When the pixies dance

A phalanx of worshippers
all on the salty brine
ten shores from Mecca
the stains are always deeper than you think
fathom it forward in time
when Picasso had made it oblique
but we surround it as an orb
tiny turning of the screw
did release the pressure
knowing this the art of timing
is however inconsequential my friend
when the pixies dance of an evening
all know the show must go on

I am not a poet

I am not a poet
I want to write a poem
Poem is to recall the memory
The love affection and the time
To appreciate my love in words
I recall my love again
A Smiling face a Loving face
The face I cannot forget
The love I cannot forget
The days I cannot forget
All that is in my mind and heart
Which I cannot forget to recall
Them again and again that's my love
I never forget still in my mind and heart
It is like picture in front of my eyes
I carry the memories in my heart
Its flow in my blood and still in my mind
I never forget that love which gave me life and time still remember my love of life
Will be forever with me in my mind thoughts and heart
I am not a poet
I want to write a poem

Maui

A week after I celebrated my birthday on the big island of Hawaii
A big fire broke out on Maui
At first I thought maybe it was a volcano with hot lava
That was the reason I visited the big island
I wanted to see fresh hot lava oozing out
But I heard it was lightning and heavy winds
I do know they are far away from everything
That is what is so neat about this place
Total isolation from the rest of the world
It is a neat place and I'm sure they will rebuild
I was entertained for my visit
And I'm sure future vacationers will be entertained on Maui

The afternoon brings the dust

In the afternoon the wind brings the dust
clouds of it come up from the valley
to invade the silent streets
small animals hide in crevices
now we are all hunkered down
awaiting the quiet of dusk

In the mornings I walk the range
where the air is clear and cool
the city below glimmers
its metal rooved armor
protecting it from the glare

I toss a rock to the gods
and it tumbles out of sight below
shaking the cacti in its descent
this very afternoon the rains will come
then the hard spirit is lifted
with the quenching of the dust
