Blue Skies of Mercy

Blue Skies of Mercy

Green plums
The famished one will eat them
but will find the taste
bitter.

Cold rain
drowns wind, its chill eating one’s heart
but the scent gives life
to souls.

Worn string
on harp, used near to breaking
but its note, played, is
hope-filled
always.

Know way

I once knew you
Without a clue
You know I knew about the few
Those you hurt around and through the years
Just because they knew your foolish fears
You whom I once knew

Night and Day - Haiku

Light, dark, night and day,
When sun is down, stars hold sway,
Dawn again, we pray

Lovers (Senryu)

walking hand in hand
lovers embrace in the rain
welcoming passion

About this poem:
Definition of Senryu

1) A Japanese poem similar in structure to haiku, but more concerned with human nature, and is often humorous or satiric -- usually in three lines of seventeen kana.

2) A foreign adaptation of 1, usually written in three lines of 17 syllables or LESS.

Again, unless you are Japanese, have been writing Japanese, or speak fluent Japanese, you will be writing definition #2.

A good structure for beginning senryu poets is:

setting
subject and action (on two lines)

The Outsider View

Sky pierced by stars
The game of connecting dots
Constellations twinkle

The last bird singing
In the chorus at sunrise
Singing from his heart

The portrait wanted
To move outside the frame
Something new to try

Wrapped in quilt of dreams
From the fog of sub-conscience
Words precipitate

Waves wash away my steps
A blanc page to start over
Leaves swayed by the breeze

The lost outsider
Bumped into the world’s problems
Bruises and scratches

Rain

Gathers, born in clouds,
Mingles, life is short, it flies,
Dies, on window pane.

About this poem:
This is a Haiku, one of mine, the only poetry that could motivate me in my school days .... Now, of course that i am a tad older and maybe wiser, i wonder was it anything to do with its length and the amount of syllables in relation to my attention span !! LOL !!

Haiku

Field of daffodils
brazen yellow, sun kissed
petals, brightly greet

The dawn of the day
magically the sun rises
flooding with colour

Gently the stems quake
as caught by the breeze they shake
quiver in its wake

Matching yellow bird
soars over the display of beauty
adding its sweet notes

A vision of bliss
such a simple little thing
the joy of nature

Half a summer moon
A lengthy season of wait
To golden harvest
