What a nice post, Cuddles. Makes a change from the vitriole around at the moment. We learn some things as we mature, hopefully and maybe become a little less selfish in our relationships.

I have so much I could say on this topic as it is quite personal to me. I've been left more times than I will share here, while they have gone on to jump on the dating merry-go-round, maybe thinking the "whole package" exists...one without flaws or prettier or less curvy or whatever. Most every one has come back seeking to make amends, but I don't take them back. They lost my respect.

So we become taunted by the shadows of our past like some Byronic hero. We've learn so much from this experience with this one girl(or ten girls), that we become better men for the pain and tragedy, stronger in spirit and resilient in adversity... even though we wish things had never fallen apart. We then have a standard to measure all other women by... and come up short.

You may have thought at the time that you can do better then the person you are with
You may have thought you didn't get all the standards you were looking for and thus settled. That won't last for long.
Now you look back and think certain things weren't so bad with the women you were involved with.
NOW your standards have changed and women from your past fit your lifestyle
