One2note: I don't know where that myth came from!!
I was always under the impression that, wealth is distributed amongst the less wealthy, especially where employment is concerned.
"This research, based on year 2000 data, found that the richest 1 percentowned 39.9 percent of the world's household wealth, a total greater than the wealth of the world's poorest 95 percent"

I rest my case
What really gets on my goat is that we now have the 'Working Poor' in this country..
Housing and commodity prices having soared over the past few years, thanks to them being indexed to that tiny minority of wealthy individuals
Many young Australians have little hope of buying their own home; jobs are scarce, offering little or no long-term security thus leading to a credit blowout for many simply to keep their heads above water.

So are you telling me that nearly 40% of households are owned by the elite 1%

Bah!!
The Mayer of London has introduced a policy , whereas , every new estate built in London, must provide for at least 40% of affordable homes. However, his good intentions maybe only be short -term , when the inevitable bribes come flooding in from property developers.
MnanahEireann: Stopping the increase of the human population you say? Hmmm, let me think how can we do that.........
I've got it! Thats easy, just give women and girls all over the world equal opportunities and power over their own lives and make birth control available to everyone....now why didn't anyone ever think of that before I wonder

Will Trump keep his campaign promises? any predictions?
Top 5 promises Donald Trump's voters expect him to deliver on
The wall ..Without question, Trump's central campaign plank was his pledge to build a wall on the US-Mexico border. Trump made immigration a top focal point from the moment he launched his White House bid in June of 2015, when he controversially claimed that Mexico was sending "rapists" and "criminals" across the border.
79 % of his supporters said they favor building a wall along the entire US-Mexico border, according to the Pew Research Center.
'Lock her up' ..The chants began during the Republican National Convention. Soon, "lock her up" became a ritual at each of Trump's rallies. And at the second presidential debate, Trump told Hillary Clinton that, were he to win, he would "instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your (missing email) situation."
Muslim ban ..Just last month, Trump's running mate Mike Pence, who called the original proposal "offensive and unconstitutional," said that Trump no longer supports an outright ban on Muslims entering the US. But Republicans seem to believe Trump had it right the first time. Exit poll data from earlier this year found wide majorities of GOP primary voters in support of a temporary ban against Muslims from entering the country.
Repeal Obamacare .. Trump is now armed with a Republican House and Senate eager to repeal, though that would entail kicking up to 20 million people off health insurance.
Unravel NAFTA and TPP ..Trump has been resolute in his opposition to both. He has vowed to renegotiate the terms of NAFTA with Mexico and Canada, leaving open the possibility of pulling out entirely, and has said he will not approve TPP as president.

Wealth/income Global inequality is like a rubber band, it is still holding but how long?
mollybaby: Not 40% of households, 40% of household wealth
Oh right.. Gotcha now.
Well that's hardly surprising , considering the queen owns the majority of land here in England ... I'm sure that applies to most sovereign nations too... Here in the free world , there are many opportunities , unlike the affluent Middle Eastern states , where you are either born into an affluent family, or you remain eternally poor.

Most of the land and money is in a few hands one way or the other.
There are more opportunities here yes, but I think a lot of them are perceived opportunities rather than real ones.
Just like our perceived ideas that we live in a democracy.

Please name these huge areas that the Queen owns, A couple of castles and some farmland in devon, is not a Majority of land in England
Old George III, gave most of the royal lands to the British government, the money the UK government makes for that land is about 4 times the cost of the civil list. If the queen still owned all the Royal estates, every working person in the UK would have to pay more than £5.00 per month in extra tax, to help offset the monies lost!
Certain Individuals from the UEA own far more property in the UK than the Queen!

The Queen "owns" several countries including: UK of course, Canada, Australia, NZ, etc.. Legaly, people in those countries can "hold" the property but legally there is a big difference between "holding" and "owning" the land.
I did ask the OP why most possibilities are negative...it isn't equal to starting a poll and gather opinions...but I am sure you understand exactly what I meant...
Yes, you can indeed, not very polite though, but what do I know...

For dinner My daughter and I will have:
Garbanzo's soup with onion, garlic and fresh tomatoes. Salmon from Alaska (not a very sustainable option but once in a while I get things from some other countries)
lifeisadream: According to Ooby it is China the worst country (for everything) yet when the numbers are seen per capita the picture changes and yes, industrialized, consumerist societies are the worse regarding the magnitude of the waste problem.
I predict that we will invest more in recycling technology as long as it continues to become profitable as well as necessary (unfortunately profit motive still usually wins). I think we will see an increase in industries that manufacture with trash...what could be better than basically free raw materials. And an increase in technologies that can use and reuse nonpotable water.
I think we will continue to see conflict over clean water, energy consumption, and territorial conflicts over some parts of the country contaminating air and water for those in other parts, and conflicts where some parts of the country want to dump their waste in other parts who then have to live with it. So I think we will also see an increase in communities trying to figure out how to deal with these problems more locally, not for legal reasons now, but because the laws may change (for local control of dumping....who can dump). So I think we will see an increase in a activism regarding local control of waste dumping as well as an increase in science.

his order of priority will be: Repeal Obamacare, unravel nafta and tpp, i doubt that the wall will never happen and neither will a muslim ban or lock her up. he will, however, tighten immigration because our country's system doesn't work. who wants to waste more money on hillary r clinton?

Being the "head of state" does not mean own, any more than a President owns the country he/she is president of.
In Point of fact, in the terms of the British Monarchy, the country owns the Head of state
