I can't really donate to charity because I am a charity case myself but if I could, I would donate to no kill animal shelters and help look after stray cats and dogs in the area (get them neutered, get their shots and stuff). I would also make donations to food banks. I would avoid most large charities as a lot of the time, only a small fraction of the money goes to the actual cause.
a childrens hosptal..........born to suffer.........not right.......iwas 14 when i losed my young brother heart failure. could have grown up togeather...... .......... t ..o me , it seems like yesterday........never mind...........hi all
I choose Animal Welfare--whatever as long as the foundation is transparent and open about where and how the funds are spent. My reasoning is that all life shares the Earth, and people have to be the voice for animals, both wild and domestic, because they cannot do it themselves. Hint: the actual dollar amount that goes directly to the aid of the (whatever you choose) should be at LEAST 75% of the gross.
I also like St. Jude's (Marlo Thomas, Chair) because there is no cost to the child's family whatsoever. Now, THAT'S giving.......
I don't give to charities, as a vast amount of the money goes to the managers etc. If it's a charity organisation, why can't the people managing it work for less money than other managers, or even work for free?
I don't give money to beggars on the streets, as I pay taxes for my income, and they wouldn't pay any from it. If they ask for something to eat, I buy them the food of their choice, which is usually a coffee and sandwich or some fast food......have always done that. However, a few years ago, a young beggar woman asked a man for money to buy food, he replied that "he didn't have any cash on him, but had just bought some plain buns/rolls from the bakery, without any thing in them, and she could have one if she wanted". She replied "yes", however, no sooner had the man turned the corner of the building, she threw the bread in the garbage bim she had been standing by, and walked away. Since then, I've decided that if anyone askes for something to eat, I'll buy it for them, but remain at their side, until they have eaten all of it.
I grew up learning not to waste food, as there's always someone who would be glad to have what I want to throw away.
I’ve been lucky to work with a lot of different charities here in Ireland my decision on who to donate to is based on the company spending ceo salary etc , one charity I worked with had modern office full of latest gadgets so they don’t get any of my money I give to the ones that use their money wisely to really help people.
its not easy to rescue the world as a non-profit or charity worker since there are millions of professionals which are payed to exploit humanity & the world.
