V, that may be something the pharmacy might carry as I expect they all use batteries these day but the list of what the government calls essential items is really very short and only includes things the PM and the cabinet might want, therefore the shelves are filled with champagne and caviar but stuff to repair your house forget it
Chancer, should be pretty safe here, I was in the supermarket yesterday and didn't see any Chianti or fava beans......... but then I wasn't really looking
KP, don't know how the government managed to do it, but as we enter week 4 of lockdown it's been that long since we've seen any real sunshine, the weather here is similar to California and that just doesn't happen but anyway the last thing on anyone's mind here is an ice maker
Chancer, I wouldn't rule anything out at this moment, other than 5G being responsible, it could be deliberate or it could be they just don't care, a sale being more important than human life, but they obviously didn't pass any kind of test before being shipped out.
Molly, as true as that is China imo will have a bigger price to pay if it's found they hid the virus and wasted valuable time for preparations or more so if the "Leak from the lab" theory is proved.
Molly, that's a good point, round here produces a huge percentage of fruit and veggies eaten in Europe, whilst the risk is low and any virus contamination would likely be dead after being transported across Europe we can't afford for the perception of them to be tainted
Palm, it's hard to sort the newspaper headlines, which are after all designed to sell papers, from the real facts, but if half of what's being said about the Chinese handling ( or even being the cause of this virus) is true I don't see how the Chinese economy can survive, even if governments don't claim compensation it'll be while before people want to buy goods with made in China written on them imo.
Chancer, the whole thing seems odd to me, even the spec for these things is that they should be at least 80% accurate (some of these Chinese test kits are around 25% accurate) that number implies 20% slip through the net, how can that benefit anyone they plan to use these kits first on essential workers, supermarket workers for example, how does knowing only 20% of them may have the virus help anyone Seems to me this whole exercise is more to do with governments appearing to be doing something than actually making a big difference.
Now the UK has to send back 3.5 million test kits from China that don't work, I realise times are pretty desperate but since when has buying Chinese goods ever been reliable
Molly, in order to make a bank transfer the bank has to send me a text with a code number, they have my old number so I need to change it, in order to do that they have to send me a text............ this is a long story and has been ongoing for a year or so
V, very true but have to dash, just heard the toilet roll dispensing robot at the supermarket has gone berserk and is giving out two sheets by mistake, I expect the queue to be long
V, well I don't think the EU would have managed it that easily if all the other leaders hadn't moved to Trump International Golf Links North Korea, and as nobody else was that desperate for power they really took it by default
V. I've seen on the news that the world government, formally known as the EU, has raised the retirement age to 130, and all you have to do to qualify for it is run 100 mtrs...........in less than 10 seconds
Week 24, viewers of the daily tv briefing from world leaders were shocked when their holograms began moonwalking, this we are told was due the feed being hacked by the Russians, to which some were surprised as since Pres. Putin had fled to North Korea, the only place on earth unaffected by the virus, little had been heard from the Russians
GS, from what I've read it's a mute point anyway, most people die on a ventilator and as I understand it you have to be sedated to be on that, so unlikely you'd know if anyone was there or not I know we have medical staff on the blogs, perhaps they could answer that point more accurately than me.
I rarely go to bed before 2am even in normal times, I might miss something
