82 F. is a beautiful day to me. 95 F+ is hot. I played 4 games of softball in a tournament on Saturday in 84 F. no problem. I guess growing up in Denmark you are used to it being colder. My suggestion is never go to Florida or Arizona in the summer. It would RARELY get below 85 F. in the summer there with many days in the mid 90's.
I totally understand what you are saying. However, there's also some not quantified deaths in the opposite direction, especially early on. Some people died at home and were just listed as "natural causes". The other thing is, we don't know the long term effect on both quality of life and longevity for those who have recovered from the infection. Regardless, I do agree that a month to month comparison averaged over a several year window without a pandemic would serve as a decent baseline. Clearly there has been a significant increase. But the exact level might be tweaked later.
R - he isn't simply some random "guy" on the internet, who doesn't know what he's talking about. He's an expert in his field of economy and he doesn't just say Trump is bad. He states that Trump is the worst president in US history. That's the same determination that the top presidential historians came to after scoring all the US presidents on the most important 50 presidential attributes. Random guys on the internet may have different opinions. But those opinions are of far less value. Neither of us are experts in that field.
You are right about the crazier part. However, I'm not so sure the crazy Tea Party is gone yet. Indeed, we saw them in crazy action with their stunts during the impeachment proceedings.
I made a mistake. I apologize. I took the info above from Wikipedia.
However, you are not being accurate either.
The part you are right about is the current rate, which is a flat rate on the total. The part you are not being accurate about is the full situation before. Indeed, there wasn't a flat rate before. In your example people got a standard deduction off the income for starters. Then, couples paid 10% on the first $18,550 (after the deduction) and 15% on the rest of the net income up to $75,300 and finally 25% on the rest of the net income up to $151,900
So, depending upon which bracket you fell into (the brackets were changed also), you might have paid more taxes under Obama, or more taxes under Trump. Certainly at the lowest bracket with a deduction and only a 10% tax rate, you paid less under Obama.
In your example a couple wouldn't be paying 25% on any of the income since the deduction would have taken them under $75,300 net income.
The bottom line is that depending upon where your net income (after taking the deduction) fell, couples might pay more under Obama or under Trump (getting no deduction). Certainly at the lowest bracket couples paid less (10% on the net income after the deduction) than under Trump.
The tax rate for a couple making $78,000 under Obama was 25%. Trump TEMPORARILY reduced that to 23%.
That was so he could sell giving the rich a PERMANENT tax cut.
This tax cut greatly increased the deficit. Some of his other cuts, like to the pandemic response team and associated supplies resulted in thousands of deaths and much greater financial hardship than has been seen since the great depression. The permanent tax cuts to the rich will drive the country to be bankrupt unless someone else is elected and changes them.
He never did understand budgets. That's why he went bankrupt so many times. Thus, we shouldn't be surprised, that he would do it again. Putin, your boss, is thrilled.
You lucked out. We got winds over 85 mph from the same storm. Once place actually briefly got a tornado. Hundreds of people, including me, were without power for over a day. Some only got power this weekend. Several big trees were blown down within 200 yards from my house.
That's just a statement for the public. But, we don't know how he actually felt inside. It's hard to believe that anyone would feel comfortable with Donald's behavior.
H - That's very true. Donald Trump is a disgusting person on many levels.
But, I'll take the hit for not acting exactly appropriate. I usually don't usually joke about death. To be honest, any death saddens me, as it is life extinguished forever.
We don't know the cause for his death. So, let shame serves as one possibility. Not shame for anything he did. More shame for what his brother Donald has done.
kp - I admit, that it may be a bit across the border of decency. But, no Trump will ever see it, and considering Donald's corruption, it is well deserved.
Yeah, I'm guessing at least one of the eventual movies will focus on him. It might even use his title. I'd root for Dustin Hoffman to get the lead, as Cohen. Perhaps Alec Baldwin will get Trump's role
After he is out of office, there will be more movies about Trump's corruption than Nixon's. Indeed, some of the books out already may get the movie rights.
Terrific comment ! I will add, that it applies to both ends of those partnerships.
Trump has terrible judgement, hires inappropriate people, treats them poorly, especially when they rarely do the right thing, and the people he hires are not smart enough to see they are inappropriate for the position and thus should reject the job offer. Many of them are astonished, after being hired, at to just how stupid, clueless, and terrible Trump is.
d - I am not naive. My judgement is not impaired at all. I agree with a lot of what you said about him, except for the professional liar part. He's been very honest in what a sleeze he was in his blind loyalty to Trump, and I am aware of his dealings before he admitted them.
Oh, there will be a big audience for generations. History will not look favorably on Trump, nor those who enabled, nor supported, the most corrupt US president in history. Those who ignore the facts will be recognized as fools.
