Done it loads of times. Met some "interesting" people. Made some friends. One or two turned into relationships. Some were scary people.
I think it's like kissing frogs, if you are not at least willing to sit across a table from someone for an hour or so and chat, then how are you to get to really know anyone?
Online is all very well but people lie all the time so body language clinches it for me and you have to meet in person for that.
You have to put effort in to get anything back, even if that is just a new learning experience.

I was a vegetarian for over 6 years but got seriously anaemic and wasn't getting the right kind of proteins that my body needed, so started eating meat again. Not really a great meat eater though, I still prefer veggie food.
