RE: INTELLIGENCE - Which type do you think you are?

Strange that you should mention drums. yes I do play bodhran. I seem to be able to manage rhythm, but can't for the life of me, remember sequences for notes. Languages too need good memory and I forget too easily, to know more than a few words or sentences in any language. Maybe languages and musical skills come from the same part of the brain........dunno

RE: INTELLIGENCE - Which type do you think you are?

Factual (encyclopedia type knowledge)

Analytical (thrives on intellectual problems)

Spatial (mathematician/system designer)

Practical (takes things apart/puts together again)

Intuitive (seeing what others cant see)

Interpersonal(wit & ability to get things done)

All of these to varying degrees as they are needed. I suppose I am adaptable.

RE: calling all agnostics...

... and I read "*Calling all gymnastics"....

Nah, seriously, when in doubt, remember "As you think, so are you " ... and you will find that everything you imagine has been provided - by "Someone"(?). There are things we say, unwittingly, and in ignorance, that are actually statements about ourselves ..... Like "I`m so unlucky", "Nothing good ever happens to me", "Everything goes wrong for me" .... these are Definite statements about ourselves, and our "wishes" come true - Good or Bad!

A negative thought is bad enough, and when it is vocalised, it has a way of becoming reality. Remembering that Everything begins with a Thought, becomes a Word, and then becomes Reality![/quote]

I agree with this totally.thumbs up applause hug

It's a bit like that bible quote "and the word was made flesh". I know people that that is about God, but I think it is about us too.

What we say is what we personify "in the flesh" so to speak.

RE: calling all agnostics...

In my youth I wasn't always sensible.........rolling on the floor laughing

RE: calling all agnostics...

Well since it didn't harm me or anyone else in any way I figured it was ok. Just puzzles me though........

RE: calling all agnostics...

In one experience I was out with someone, a friend, who tok me to this place on a hillside in Alabama and after some stuff, I was told that something would happen. I had no clue so wandered around for a bit, and then got the urge to stop at a copse of trees near a graveyard.

Thought I better explain that the stuff wasn't a drug or anything, it was a ritual. Nothing weird, kinda like prayer.....

Asking for something.....

RE: calling all agnostics...

Very weird experiences. I still haven't made up my mind what happened there, but it was different for sure.

In one experience I was out with someone, a friend, who tok me to this place on a hillside in alabams and after some stuff, I was told that something would happen. I had no clue so wandered around for a bit, and then got the urge to stop at a copse of trees near a graveyard.

I just stood there. My friend stood about 50 ft away. Suddenly all noise stopped. No birdsong, no grass or tree movement and where there has been katydids making deafening noise in the trees a few moments before, now there was nothing. No noise of any kind. My friend shouted over to me that there was no noise and I motioned him to be quiet and it lasted just over 3 minutes, and during that time a light appeared on my shoulder, (photographed and witnessed), and I got what I can only call a psychadelic experience, where every smell and sight was way beyond anything I thought possible for humans. I could actually smell the difference in every single blad of grass and every tree. It was amazing. My sight was enhanced to something I could never imagine as I just stood there with my friend watching.

Never was able to find an explaination for that.

Also as I was leaving there we both took pics of baby deer, (this was in August), by the side of th road, 4 of them in different places. When we got back his digital pics had no deer in them, only the places we saw them. Same happened when I got home to Ireland. I had ordinary pics that the pharmacy developed. No deer in any of them either, just the places we had taken the shots.

If I didn't have the pics and the witness, no one would ever have believed me. They'd have thought I was off my head on something.

This was early in the day, on a cloudy day, broad daylight, in an open place, no alcohol, drugs or even caffine involved.

Could you explain it?hug

RE: How to keep a Woman happy

Nope. Loads of them out there.hug

RE: calling all agnostics...

I have had experiences that can't be explained, but that just leaves me with more questions.........dunno hug

Dublin City Marathon was won by Ukranian. By Paul Melia

Tuesday October 28 2008

RECORDS were broken and marriages made over the course of yesterday's 29th Dublin City marathon.

A record 11,700 runners pounded the capital's streets for much of yesterday, but sporting fans will have to prolong their 15-year wait for an Irish winner just a little while longer.

The first of the elite athletes home was Ukrainian Andriy Naumov, who crossed the line with a time of 2:11:06 over the 26 miles, netting himself €15,000 in the process.

He looked like he could have kept running. Grinning from ear to ear, the 36-year old pronounced himself to be very happy with his performance.

The biggest-ever field of runners made their way in bitterly cold conditions to Fitzwilliam Square for the 9am start, with runners taking part on behalf of charities, as well as serious competitors intent on being first over the line.

There was plenty of brightly-clad athletes taking part, including a group of Frenchmen in tricolour wigs; 67-year old Viking James Hempsey, who has run 32 marathons; a pair in Batman costumes; and one man dressed in full army regalia, including backpack and boots.

Happy

Lord Iveagh -- aka Arthur 'Ned' Guinness -- was dressed as a toucan and running in aid of the Iveagh Trust, and while many of the contestants wore grim expressions of serious sporting intent, others were happy to stroll hand in hand, enjoying the morning sunshine.

In all, the field took 10 minutes to pass and by the end of the day a couple of world records were broken. There was also one marriage proposal -- with Ashley Eidmann taken aback by the sight of her boyfriend on bended knee as she reached the finish line.

Galwayman Ernesto Antonio (44) broke the world record for a heart transplant recipient, breaking his previous time by eight minutes and coming home in 3:45.

Londoner and honorary Limerickman Simon Baker broke the record for completing a marathon on crutches, coming in at in 6:47:58 -- almost half an hour quicker than the previous fastest time.

"You're now talking to a world record holder," a delighted Simon, who ran in aid of children's charity the Bubble Gum Club, said. "I'm wrecked, but I had a great team. I had 14 stone coming down on one leg, and it really hurts. I'll probably take it nice and handy this evening."

It was more about taking part than winning or breaking records.

RE: Weather

I'm doing that just now. I had to go out earlier and it was so cold my legs wouldn't work.

How are things with you?hug

RE: Weather

Hi Kid wave

Still brass monkey weather here. Sleet and hailstones, even a hint of snow, which is unheard of at this time of year usually.hug

RE: Origin of Halloween

Interesting too, how these are considered pagan festivals when they weren't pagan as we know it today.

In Ireland before Roman Catholocism, (brought by St Patrick, under instruction by the English),we had hundreds of years of Gnostic Christianity, the festivals of which, are what are now considered pagan festivals. Anything outside of the roman Catholic Church back then, was considered pagan in those days, even if it was Gnostic Christianity brought directly from the East, as it was here.

Proof of this is to be found in the remains and relics of pre-St. Patrick, or early Roman Catholic Churches in Ireland, many of which can still be seen in Cork and Kerry and Donegal.hug
