To all those who wished me a happy birthday when I wasn't here to answer it, thank you all very much. I'm just back, so am only getting an opportunity to express my appreciation now.
A special word of thanks to Ship whose little poem touched my heart.
Just got home. Tired but happy. Thanks to everyone who made may stay a wonderful one. What a fantastic bunch of fun loving people. I loved every second of my time there. P Seg thank you for entertaining me on my last day. You have the patience of a saint.
My grand daughter, aged two and a half, asked me today what those things on my face were. I said what things? And she pointed to the top of my nose between my eyes.
I looked in the mirror and noticed my frown wrinkles. I said "those are grannie's wrinkles", and she said "how old are you" ?
I told her, and she said "well I am two and a half and I don't have any ,but they are nice", and then she proceeded to sit in front of the mirror wrinkling her nose to see if she could make them appear on her face.
I smiled thinking how innocent kids are at that age, and how, the things that we find fault with, are often things that they find beauty in .
Your morals, ethics and personal standards of beliefs might take a bashing on here from time to time but you will make a lot of friends by joining in other people's threads as well as starting your own.
Best of luck to you. You are going to need it. Welcome to CS.
I was watching a program last night on plastic surgery, people taking perfectly good bodies and carving them up to make them look false and artificial. Can't understand anyone even wanting to do that unless they were needing it from being burned in a fire or had cancer eating half their face or something. What is wrong with people that they buy into wanting to change what nature and life gave them???
My daughters and I used to laugh when they were teenagers because I got more date offers than them and they are stunning women, thin, good looking, all the attributes, while I just looked lived in and middle aged. When it comes right down to it, it's not about what you look like, it's about who you are and how you relate. We all change. We get older and look older. If we all just acepted who andhow we are, we would be able to recognise somelifein the faces of the people we meet and understand them better for how life affected them. All we get from reading a face that has had surgery, is that they are afraid of life and what it does to us and that they try to hold on to a dream of what it should be like instead of what it really is. It's actually a good thing to be who you are!!!!
I also like looking and acting my age. I'm not about to pretend I am 30 for anyone. I have earned every wrinkle, curve and mark on my body and I wouldn't change any of it. Anyone superficial enough to want someone for their looks can go take a running jump. I'm real!!!
Ok will do. Hard to imaging anywhere hot after the cold that set in here. Winters seem to be getting colder and longer. It will be very welcome though to be warm for a change. Couldn't even wear strappy tops here in summer.
Never even thought about the zoo, but will put it on my list now. Will surely take the camera, just hope I can get batteries charged there with different power and stuff. Will bring extras just in case.
I thought I'd lost mine yesterday. I had taken it from it's usual place when the last fosterkids arrived. (Sometimes they lift things). Then yesterday i culdn't remember where it was. I did eventually find it, but now I can't remember where I found it.
I packed it in my suitcase now so I don't lose it again before I go. Haven't packed any clothes yet though. I'm such a muddle.
These are a few of my favourite Picasso quotes.........
Action is the foundational key to all success.
All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
An idea is a point of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought.
Are we to paint what's on the face, what's inside the face, or what's behind it?
Art is a lie that makes us realize truth.
Art is not the application of a canon of beauty but what the instinct and the brain can conceive beyond any canon. When we love a woman we don't start measuring her limbs.
Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.
Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso
