LOL, oh?? Not when they keep talking about a "boyfriend" or an ex...too many "mixed signals" the "light" was "out of order" as far as I was concered, 200 yearold antique bed or not...:( oh well.... :)
My children have loved Totoro since it came out; it certainly is the best graphics "cartoon" movie ever made, I think. I got 2 copies for them, one each and noe have them packed away for when they hopefully have their own and remember....:) Someone mentioned Song Of The South...it is branded as being "politically very incorrect" and Disney will not be releasing it from what I've heard....a "revised" soundtrack" was released some years ago...and people are still trying to ban from everywhere the book Little Black Sambo....of which I have several copies even of the original first edition as well as the record set that came with other editions...very rare and worth a mint...:)
Ouch! I think I just collided with a wall...Did I just read what I thought I just read...I must be hallucinating, OUCH! just had to pinch myself...:) my faceis turning beet red...why thank you kygemini, now I'm getting finger-tied...some insights on Life I could have done without, believe me ; it was no fun learning and I have never found any answer as to why which years ago led me to the think that the worst possible thing I could ever wish on someone, "an enemy" let's say, would be a life of utter lonelyness, but then upon a bit more reflection, no, not even on my worst enemy would I wish that, not with what I had to go through; my drummer went off a cliff and I followed right after, took all the wrong roads that no one in their right mind would ever take; a lot were dead-end roads; now I'm at least somewhat parallel to the main highways of Life...I don't want to get too close, or I might find myself left in the ditch as a hit and run...:) Ain't Life grand......%)
All-inall it has been a cumulative and devastating effect...one is always "the odd person-out of anything to everything and hence to virtually everyone; you are literally left alone by most, The effects take hold sometimes slowly, sometimes rather quickly depending on one's own "sensitivity" to what is or is not around you; sometimes one accepts it and blithley goes on with their life. Some don't or can't and soon the depressions set-in that eventually drive them to suicide. In many ways, especially socially, it stilts one's growth and certainly does not help you win friends or influence people in any positive way. You build your own suit-of-armour, emotionally and go on your path;and as far as the drummer goes; if a man...or woman doesn't keep pace with his friends or aquaintances, perhaps it is because he does hear a different drummer. Let him/ her step to the music which they hear, however measured or far away...as Thoreau said....(still small consolation though...:( )
Several days ago, my daughter brought home Hotel Rwanda to watch it for her Socials class and insisted that I watch with her. After a half hour I had to leave it and the next day could only take about ten minutes of it; it took a few days to finish it...too many memories were brought back of having seen this kind of slaughter "up close and personal" too many times in various countries in Africa; same with the movie Tears of the Sun...and here I thought I was over all that....it still insites rage at the callousness of those that stood by and simply watched it all without ever trying to help or stop it and so as yet, so many unanswered questions. What a delightful world we live in...
How true...perhaps more people in the US should really read Hillary Clinton's wonderful book: "It Takes A Global Village"...now there IS one smart woman; wish there were a lot more! She has more brains that most political parties or Governments have men that run things....:)
I loved Braveheart and do have a copy; Gibson knows how to make good movies. As to the posted question: a script that makes sense; a sense of "continuity", not cut and pasted scenes including daytime shots and suddenly it's night and the same converation or action is going on, or even more bizarre, the people are wearing different clothes all of a sudden....realistic reactions to events, not using cheap gimmicky worn-out cliches,ie. the ol' run & trip over their oen feet or the high-heels routine...boring. The one thing I love about "big-budget films" are all the mistakes to spot however, like wearing watches in historical time periods;ie. Cleopatra wearing a wedding ring, defenders of the Alamo with wrist watches, people on innertubes playing in the water during a Medieval scene near a coast....tennis shoes on soldiers from the 1800's etc. etc. Those, I love...it makes it all the more hysterical, nevermind historical! :)
Canadians keep harping about "their character, their identity, their "culture" etc. ad-nauseum ;identity and culture/ heritage that is being swamped by the by american values...my idea: for Canada to join the EU and get out from under all of Uncle Sam's influences, especially economically. Canada may have to share "the longest border in the world" with the US, but they do not have enough backbone to be able to curtail any of the influences that is turning Canada into just another state or territory of the US,like Puerto Rico. Underthe EU, each member nation has limits of owning or even broadcasting programs into another country that affects their cultures, peoples, their heritage etc. ; all nations are keeping their separate but equal uniqueness and with the EU dollar, a good sound monetary system exists ; beside which, the balance of the Canadian population is still of European heritage; and has more in common with "European" values rather than those of the wild west mentality of the Bush gang.
Oh? That is one thing I don't have to worry about! The other week I put on veggies to stean, pot on burner, several minutes later I noticed something shiny like a puddle under the pot....it was the pot melting; I had forgotten to put the water in the pot....and it was such a nice pot...:( and it did not help having my 2 kids laugh at my galloping senelity....or was that rampaging....
There is the "magic word"/ thing/category; call it what you will: People, in general, when I can, sometimes particular people for most of my life it seems..; self insight: it seems that as I live on an island, I am an island seems rather ironic looking at it that way; it leaves me rather bemused....oh well,I have grown weary in trying to change it...
Out Of Order Closed For Repairs These Premises Condemned Vacant This Space For Rent Caution Hazard Up Ahead I seem to have all of them all over me...%)
LOL you did, you did! lol....anothe good book on this whole topic is "Intimacy: The Need To Be Close"; How the need for intimacy influences our relationships, Life choices and sense of Identity, by Dan P. McAdams; most libraries should have copies around. For most cases of "failure" though, Anxieties are still the no. 1 cause next to "stresses"
I cannot imagine, nor do I wish to what a relationship would be like without Romance; without Romance it would have no life, as with humor; dead in the water; that is totally against my nature; I love all of what can pass for "thr romance", be it overt, covert with all the nuances and metaphors. It keeps us all in a wonderful mood, or at least, that is what I've found....from what I can remember...I think; as a song says..."been so long"..:)
A fleeting thought in a moment of illusionary sobriety: to be Alone is to be invisible.....ahhhh, perchance to write an ode to and for all the "invisibles".....%)
Oh my! I shall run out from my igloo and hitch up the moose to my sled ; making it over the Rockies in the blinding everlasting snowstorms will be a breeze with such a lovely invitation! Hi-Yo, Bullwinkle! Mush, I say, Mush! I'll just leave my mind behind, or at least, what mind I have left! :D
LOL! Now that, is even better! Great idea kygemini!!:) Hope you have adequate parking for all that come, and refreshments, or will this be "bring your own", probably a better idea...:) Welcome to the asylum; haven't seen you on the forums before; just dive right-on-in, the patients are fine,(most of the time) :D
And a big HUG to you Sweets! :0 Now let's wait to her fron Arabella to see if she stomps on her beans like grapes, as the Italians do,,,,,:) Arabella?? Hey Pisanno, you dere ? :))
Just reading you post, Sam, is helping lighten the load I feel though I do know there are better times ahead, it stills feels good to read it from you. Thank you....:)
For many of us it is a "seasonal thing" as it were; it is certainly for me, at every "family type" holiday/ occasion; be it Mother's day, Birthday, Christmas, Easter etc. and there is not anyone to share any thing with and my childrentoo feel the emptyness of someone missing from all our livesbut at least God is there if no one else is; sometimes though, it is a small consolation, but we all have our crosses to bear...sure gets heavy at times...:)
Just dive into the rabbit hole! You will be amazed at all the weir, wonderful and zany histerical characters you will find roaming the halls....welcome :D
Good question! Wonder what Rhett Butler, or Prince Andre was like with lights off??? Ever wonder what "Ashley" from GWTW might be like in a sack...any better that John Rambo?? This could get hilarious...I'll go find my psyc for advice, oh, there is Hawkeye now...hey Doc!! Wait-up!
sometimes it's hard trying not to see or look; sometimes it's best to wear "blinders" like on a horse; sometimes seeing all the wondrous beauties of Life can really be depressing....:)
...door creaks open, ever soooo slowly...the sound of a foot on the floor boards, followed by the scraping sound of the other foot being dragged along...a hulking shadow with an obvious lop-sided silhoutte of a hunchback fills your kitchen doorway..."Wheare, ma chitlins an'gritz woman!? :D
