What we all seem to need is a huge shopping mall for mates...in a nice, relaxed and civilized manner, where males and females can "shop": see some of those available in the display windows, others being inside "the store" or whatever term you wish to use; the interior done up like cafes, lounges etc. in a nice tasteful manner where you can brouse, see someone of interest and have a quiet mutual interview....the key is that it is a mutual interview as the both of you are there; who knows, you may be in a similar "store" yourself at other hours...oh sure, there is some comparison the the shops in Hamburg or Bremerhaven and Amsterdam of their "red-light districts" but there needen't be that raw and gaudy atmosphere to this at all...a true "Family type store" for finding a nice mate...:) Regular size, large size, king size, queen size ,jumbo size! and the "let us help you get him/her into your car size!oops, coodn't hep mase'f...:) anyway..why not, saves everyone a lot of needless expences and anxiety attacks....
The end of a relationship, even an important one that you believed could last a lifetime, and in which you invested all your emotional energy, does not mean you have failed as a person in those quiet moments of self doubt that we are all prone to having. For what it's worth, my condolences. Acknowledging that your life was going in the wrong direction is a courageous step that opens the way for positive change. Everyone needs time to work through whatever angers and grief they have after the loss of a partner, and many then embark with enthusiasm on a period of indepence, but eventually the chllenge of a new relationship is sure to present itself. Most of us are resilient and adaptable. Most of us here are divorced and the rate is still going higher, but there are also more re-marriages than ever before, and more people living together who were once married. The quest for love goes on, and the second, third time, etc., around prospective partners are wiser, more sure of their own needs and of what they can provide, and more realistic in their expectations, if no less romanti. The ability to love, once developed, is never really wasted or lost. It is part of the riches that you, that others bring to your new relationship, and which form the foundation of the future....or so I still believe, and hope that I'm not wrong...oh well, my thoghts...happy recovery!
Very well put Cajun...and Crash; one way that may seem absurd at first to reduce the prison populations is perhaps to reduce the amount of "crimes" that get people locked up. We seem to live in a world where almost anything is illegal, what we do, what we say, where we go etc. etc. We have no input or even out-put as to what should be or shouldn't be legal or illegal...we just find out by reading about it, or being arrested for it, much to our collective surprise; one almost has to check on what's legal or not before you leave the house to go out....and now I hear that the State of Florida is going to allow guns to be worn on the streets for "self defense"..just lovely; a new state approved policy of population control, not that I of all people have anything whatsoever against guns, but it just seems that it should also allow for the open purchases of full automatic weapons, why stop with hand-guns; lots of good people would like to own rocket launchers also! Back in the 60's the old Minutemen wanted missles! Lets go for it! :)
Ditto for me also on wanting to have a :strong woman" same as I like my coffee..:) The society I was raised in had no real places for "weak women" as opposed to what has been said here to define what a strong woman is or should be, but at the same time let's not exclude "femmeninity" from being strong as many males complain that a strong woman is not "feminine"...to me that is ridiculous as many males seem to interpret feminine as all dressed up in lace and silks like little dolls. Think on what a doll is; I would not want a doll either were I ever lucky enough to have someone again...Life would be so dull, boring and excruciatingly mentally fatiguing...just like having a blow-up doll around; can't have a conversation with one of those...:)but at the same time, I would not want any "Wonderwoman" type either :))
Excellent way to put it: in terms of hard cold economics. Other than China, the US has the largest prison population in the world, including those who live perpetually on "Death Row" China excecutes them within weeks,therefore they really have no "death row" to clothes and feed; though the two "justice systems are not really comparable, China is adopting a more legally fair system as in the Western countries. I just find it ironic that China, basically a "have not" nation has the largest prison population and that more than half the crimes could be classified as "economic", the others are mostly "political" due to their system , whereas in the US, is the no.1 "have" it nation economically and most of the crimes are "violence orientated", the second highest relates to "petty crimes" having to do with drugs, usually just having it...perhaps it is time to abolish this as a "crime" and free up some space for those who really need to be locked up from everyone elseand start excecuting a lot faster...
I agree; Honesty is the best policy, especially in a relationship, then there is less competition...it seems that today, especially on the net, a man's idea( and some women also!), of honesty is telling you his real name; by process of illimination, that makes dishonesty the second best policy..but insanity is the best defence...:)
and what about those that want to try and drown you in some river or creek...or sit around a hookah all day and moan...or carry a whip to beat themselves, or you with if they even think they have done something "sinful" or you, with no warning whatso ever! Crash, you should really expand your list...it matters a whole lot!!! :)

Ladies, this "mother thing" can be a double edged sword in the worst ways possible; I've met and known a lot of weirdos and psychos all my life never mind about reading about the ones in prisons for the most horrible crimes you can imagine...many, many of these "types" seem to all have the "sacred" thing about their mamas....especially those convicted of serial murders of women....and kids...I would not use their relationships with momy as a gauge to their character; if I were a woman, I'd be damn leary! There are a lot more and better things to gauge a man's character...and safer! :) just my humble opinion....

There are a few I'd love to meet just for the pure pleasure of it..we are hoping, but the distances are vast in comparrison to most people here; there are a couple "could haves", maibe "should haves" but sometimes there are "things" that get in the way, and you figure, what's the use...you let it slip by, wishing things had been different...so it goes....:(
What was it that Voltaire said about manners....something to the effect of To succeed in the world, it is not enough to be stupid, you must also be well mannered...manners are neede by most people, but the pretty ones can get away with anything....:) In todays world, the hardest job kids face, may be learning good manners without ever seeing any, or one way to sum it up is by what Rita Rudner once said:"Men who listen to Classical music tend not to spit." :)
Good answer; a lot of people are in love with the idea of "being in love" ..or just for the love of "love"; either way, they won't and can't have the time for anyone real and love without someone to share is just not love at all...

A very wise attitude to have Miss Mel...especially for women; the old virtues of honesty, integrity and honour has for the most part fallen by the wayside; it the age of the "new morality" which in essence means it's ok to lie, steal and cheat to get what you want; it's all about selfishness. It seems to fall under one of the Age of'f...age of Illusions, Delusions or is it disillusion...probably the latter, hence why "love" is in so much trouble today; no one can afford to take a chance and trust another, let alone someone from the other gender in regards to "love". The old game of lies and deceit versus truth and honesty goes on to everyone's loss....sad.
Drugs have taught an entire American generation the metric system....drugs may lead you to nowhere, but hey, it's a scenic route...:) I really don't mind advocating drugs,alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, they've always worked for me...:D
