P.S. I know some of you dudes are going to be using my pool table idea, and that's okay. Just remember that for guys, it really helps if the lady is predisposed toward kissing you anyway.
I don't know where you guys are going, but if there's a pool table there play some pool. Then say, "How about we play for a kiss?". If he wins, you owe him a kiss. If you win, he owes you a kiss. See what I'm saying? Either way you get that kiss you wanted.
On the issue of touching...I strongly suggest you save that for another date. Here's why...you are going to need to tell him exactly how far you are willing to go beforehand. Admittedly it is a bit of a passion killer, but it really is the safest thing to do. Plus, if he gets you really really hot...you can always change your mind and go further.
Let's say a fella bursts into my home weilding a gun or a knife. He looks at me and asks if I'm the only one there, and my daughter is sleeping in the next room. I am not going to be honest with that fella, and I'm not going to ask God to forgive me about it. This guy has asked for a truthful response, I don't owe it to him. It would seem that he doesn't honor God, or anyone else for that matter. He isn't seeking anything good, and he won't find honesty, nor anything good so long as I'm involved.
Another Major circumstance:
I filled out a job application that asked if I've ever been arrested. I answered truthfully. I was arrested at age 19 for disorderly conduct (fighting). This particular company does background checks, and that didn't worry me because I don't have any serious felony charges or anything. But, it turns out that my application was rejected. They reject anyone who answers yes to that question (no matter how small the offense), because background checks are costly. Turns out, that if I had lied. And they had done a background check, I would have passed it because the arresting agency doesn't even keep records that far back. So, I lied on the next application, and I got a much better job as a result.
In the situation you described, if "John's" repentance were indeed genuine. I see no reason that he should hide it. Of course, some people may have apprehensions regarding his past. However, a little time would make his conversion evident, because his actions would be pure (that's really hard to fake for very long). Furthermore, John might serve as an inspiration, or mentor to someone else who desires to make a similar life change. John has nothing to hide.
That said, I cna think of other situations where honesty, is neither the best policy, nor is it owed to the parties involved.

Its release from the brain can be triggered from deceptively simple actions like the meeting of the eyes or touching of the hands. Or looking at cute kissy faced pictures of lovely intelligent women.
