Not so dr. This man was different. He preached against those money making crackpots. Here is what his son wrote about him...
Remembering David Wilkerson April 29, 2011 "David served the purposes of God in his generation, then he died" (Acts 13:36).
On Wednesday afternoon my father, David Wilkerson, passed away in a car accident. We grieve the loss of a beloved father, a faithful husband and a holy man of God. My mother, Gwen, his wife of 57 years, was in the car also, but we are told she will recover fully.
Dad's 60-plus years of ministry have impacted the lives of those closest to him and extended to millions around the world. Today we feel a personal loss, but at the same time we rejoice knowing Dad lived life to the fullest, obeying God with devotion and loving Jesus radically.
He was known for his unlimited faith. He believed God could change the lives of gang members and transform the most desperate drug addicts. He believed that a dynamic church could be launched in the heart of Times Square, New York City. He believed he could be a man who loved his wife and children well. And he did.
Dad was not one for fanfare, acclaim or ceremony. He turned down invitations to meet with world leaders yet would give everything he owned to support a poor orphan or a widow in distress.
Like King David of old, Dad served God's purposes in his generation. He preached with uncompromising passion and relentless grace. He wrote with amazing insight, clarity and conviction. He ran his race well and when his work was done, he was called home.
I don't think my father would have retired well. I don't think he was one to sit in a rocking chair and reminisce about times past. I believe that Jesus, knowing this, graciously called him home.
Dad's last mission on earth was to be an advocate for the poorest of the poor—to provide relief and support for hungry children and widows and orphans. After founding Teen Challenge, World Challenge and Times Square Church, he sought to feed starving children in the most impoverished countries in the world. Today, Please Pass the Bread is saving the lives of thousands of children, through 56 outreaches in 8 countries.
Like King David of old, after having served God's purpose, he died. I know if my father were able to encourage you with his words today, he would invite you to give your all to Jesus, to love God deeply and to give yourself away to the needs of others.
The works he began outlive him. We can all attest to his impacting us—not only in his preaching, writing and founding of world-changing ministries, but in his love, devotion, compassion and ability to stir our faith for greater works.
According to the nutrition website nutritiondata.com, beef sirloin (bottom, tri-tip, separable lean only, and trimmed to zero fat) has six grams of protein per ounce. Blanched almonds also have six grams of protein per ounce, according to the same site. They also contain six percent of the RDA for iron, while the beef sirloin contains just two percent. The almonds, however, contain quite a bit more unsaturated fat, because the beef sirloin has been trimmed to zero fat. They have 14 grams of unsaturated fat per ounce, with one gram of saturated fat, but it is plant-based fat and not animal fat. (Not all beef products listed on the site contain six grams of protein per ounce–some have more.) This comparison merely provides an example of how some vegetarian foods contain adequate amounts of protein, and in some cases are equal to the amount of protein in meat. People who bash vegetarian diets, often start with saying they are lacking protein, and therefore must be inferior.
So instead of having three ounces of beef sirloin tri-tip for eighteen grams of protein, one could have three ounces of almonds.
There is no luck in faith. Faith is believing in what is not yet, as though it is.
If you truly want to be a believer, then Only Believe! It's quite simple. Ask and you Will receive! You have not cos you ask not.
There is a story of a woman who had an issue of blood for 18 years. She believed if she could only touch the hem of Jesus garment, she would be healed. She reached out and touched it, in a crowd of people. He felt power go out from him and asked, "who touched me?", He then told the woman, "Your Faith has healed you".
His help is FREE! We believe because He has touched each one of us, just when we needed it most. And He continues to help us daily. He loves you maryrachelle and He wants you well. Only believe...
When the immune system gets imbalanced, it begins attacking itself. All diseases are immune system imbalances.
I suffered from Fibromyalgia for years, a so called incurable disease. I took an immune system builder and was cured in 10 days. This began my seeking in depth of Natural Healing.
That was 15 years ago, and I have learned so much! Seek and you will find. Listen to your body. There is lots of info on the net to help you.
As one who has also had visions of the future, what is to come, and know that these visions were God given, shown me by the creator, whatever or whomever it may be, and one who personally knows David Wilkerson and shared in his intimacy with the creator, I stand in agreement with what he has been shown.
Others are entitled to opinions, but many speak without having any idea of what they speak of.
Spirit speaks to Spirit. Those who lack Spirit, can not hear. I do not condemn them for this, in fact, I grieve over them and my heart's desire is that their hearts would soften and their ears would hear the Spirit.
Yours in opinion, mine is fact. There is a difference.
You should know the reputation of David and Time Square Church, since he started in Brooklyn in 1958, with the conversion of Nicky Cruz, a gang member.
He helped millions of drug addicts all over the world, personally sought out heroin addicts in abandoned warehouses in Harlem, went home and prayed for them fervently. They came to him, he welcomed them into Teen Challenge homes for FREE where they were prayed for around the clock, set free from addiction and lived to serve the Lord. His ministry has a 96% success rate of them never returning to their former way of life! Much more than we can say for the 2% success rate of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonomous.
He was a very humble man and never wanted the spotlight on himself.
I will go ahead and address your question rohaan, although I did not bring it up, it was a quote from David Wilkerson's remark in his book, "The Vision".
I love all people unconditionally and Yes, I do believe that gays can be as you say, "un-gayed". Take the worship leader, Dennis Jernigan. I have many tapes of his music and have seen him in person. His testimony is awesome. He was gay, gave his life to Christ and the Holy Spirit made the changes in him. He is now married to a woman and they have 9 children. You can read his testimony here:
Get your facts straight before you post. You may want to read the article again. Understand that David Wilkerson prophesied this, he wrote it, not me and he made no error.
Here, I quote your reference from the article above. "For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago."
I found out at 10PM last night. I wept all night and again today. A mighty man of God, a man after God's own heart, a humble man, a prophet of God (although he claimed not to be), he did not waver or compromise. An example for each of us.
God has removed him to spare him from the Wrath to come.
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 WHEN ALL MEANS FAIL To believe when all means fail is exceedingly pleasing to God and is most acceptable. Jesus said to Thomas, “You have believed because you have seen, but blessed are those that do believe and have not seen” (John 20:29). Blessed are those who believe when there is no evidence of an answer to prayer—who trust beyond hope when all means have failed. Someone has come to the place of hopelessness—the end of hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening. That is when Satan’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear, anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on promises. You trusted.” Blasphemous thoughts will be injected into your mind: “Prayer failed. Faith failed. Don’t quit on God—just do not trust him anymore. It doesn’t pay!” Even questioning God’s existence will be injected into your mind. These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic attacks. To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.” Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.
ooby, surely you KNOW that the IRS is a private owned company, NOT a U.S. Government entity!
Also, of all the revenues received by the IRS, only 2% is applied against the Federal Deficit. The remainder pays for office supplies, buildings, expenses and investigations, and IRS employees.
Something is definitely wrong with this picture!
The IRS needs to be abolished and perhaps a flat tax could be established?
Besides, the 16th Amendment which requires Americans to pay income tax was never radified!
(CBS) The final White House briefing by Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was just like his first one over two years ago: it began late. Really late. Three hours and 17 minutes late, to be exact.
This time, he could legitimately blame Hosni Mubarak, whose resignation as President of Egypt inflicted more than the usual chaos on Gibbs' schedule. His last appearance at the lectern was scheduled for 12:15PM. It got underway at 3:32PM.
"Obviously Gibbs' departure is not the biggest one today," joked Pres. Obama who accompanied Gibbs to the lectern for the last time.
"Robert has not only been an extraordinary press secretary, but he has been a great friend," said Pres. Obama. "You could not ask for somebody better in the foxhole with you during all the twists and turns of my candidacy, and then the incredible challenges that we faced over the last two years."
Gibbs has served as one of Barack Obama's top aides since his run for the Senate in 2004.
"I didn't have a lot of money, so all I could afford was Gibbs," kidded the president. But the ribbing belied his genuine affection for his 39-year old spokesman.
Two years in the saddle as press secretary can feel like the longest two years of anybody's life. They can go by fast but they pack the wear and tear of double the time, if not more.
On the list of burnout jobs, White House Press Secretary is near the top, especially when it comes after a grueling two-year presidential campaign.
Gibbs freely admits his family has had take a back-seat to his White House obligations and responsibilities. He often laments he hasn't been there for his son Ethan as often as he should have been. But that changes first thing Monday, insisted Gibbs as he described to reporters what he'll be doing on his first day as a non-government employee.
"On Monday, the former press secretary will travel with Ethan Gibbs to school," said Gibbs, looking forward to driving his 7-year old son to school.
Further speculating on what his first day off the job will be like, Gibbs expects he'll watch Sports Center on ESPN and take a bike ride.
He's also looking forward to taking a nap on Monday afternoon "before walking several hundred feet to the bus stop" to greet son Ethan home from school.
Gibbs isn't looking to be Mr. Mom, but his life will shift decidedly into low gear. He'll make a living giving speeches. Newly-retired White House press secretaries can rake in a year's pay in less than a month of appearances.
In fact, when a reporter at his final briefing asked him to assess the president's relationship with the press, Gibbs didn't want to give it away for free.
"Soon somebody's going to pay me a lot of money to give that assessment and I look forward to sharing that with them," said Gibbs, as if saying no one will buy the cow if he gives away milk.
Here is the Origional Version for those who may not know...
Oklahoma!
Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II Music by RICHARD RODGERS
Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet When the wind comes right behind the rain. Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land And the land we belong to is grand! And when we say Yeeow! Ayipioeeay! We're only sayin' You're doin' fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma O.K.
