Well, the teachers stated that they were told to make it look real and they didn't think that such a reaction would occur.

Well... think again!!!
This had to be traumatic to the children!!!
I know it would have been to me, even as an adult!!!

Stunned primary school children were told in their morning assembly that World War III had broken out.
Staff at St Mary's RC, Bacup, Lancashire, came up with the idea to help children understand what it was like to live during wartime and decided to make them believe war had been declared.
The terrified youngsters were also told that London - where some of them have relatives - was under bomb attack.
They were led to a cellar when an air raid siren sounded and a firework was let off to simulate a bomb.
Headteacher Mike Richards announced in the morning assembly but abandoned the project at around 1.30pm after some of the children became upset. He has since apologised for the exercise.
He said some of the pupils had since had nightmares.
The project began with a radio playback of Neville Chamberlain's 1939 war address.

Mr Richards admitted teachers were 'very upset' that pupils had been left distressed and suffering from nightmares.

One parent said her children, in particular her daughter who is in Year One, were 'terrified'.

Mr Richards explained: 'We were doing World War Two as a topic and we saw advice from schools that basically suggested that we introduced the topic as if it was really happening. We didn't foresee these problems.

'We did a simulated air raid and talked about evacuation, but we said children would probably be evacuated to Bacup as it was safer than Manchester or London.

The children were shown footage of the Blitz and were told that London - where some of them have relatives - was under attack.

How To Catch A Pig... No Joke!

There was a chemistry professor in a large college
that had some exchange students in the class. One day
while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one
young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his
back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.
The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his
back. He had been shot while fighting communists in
his native country who were trying to overthrow his
country's government and install a new communist
regime.

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor
and asked a strange question. He asked:

"Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the
punch line. The young man said that it was no joke.

"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in
the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come every day to eat the free
corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put
a fence down one side of the place where they are used
to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the
corn again and you put up another side of the fence.
They get used to that and start to eat again. You
continue until you have all four sides of the fence up
with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to
come through the gate to eat that free corn again.

You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole
herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom.
They run around and around inside the fence, but they
are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn . They are
so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage
in the woods for themselves, so they accept their
captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly
what he sees happening in America. The government
keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps
spreading the free corn out in the form of programs
such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned
income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies,
dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),
welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually
lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths:

1) There is no such thing as a free lunch

2) and you can never hire someone to provide a service
for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

'help' as a problem confronting the future of
democracy in America?

This would have been the intelligent intent of what we would have thought the health care bill to be and I would agree with it whole heartedly! With the public option of course!!

Given that what they created in the current bill, it has none of these qualities. It is full of regulations against "We the People", including fines and 23 new taxes which have NOTHING to do with Health Care!!! Oh, that's right, that's how they intend to pay for it.

But yes juan, we would all agree with you, I believe. And I would add, repeal the bill and start over.

“I will not concede that the repeal of ObamaCare will not get through the Senate. I believe we have a reasonable chance if there’s a procedure means that can be devised to force a vote on ObamaCare, without being held up by a filibuster. If they take a vote in the Senate that takes a simple majority, I will predict that they will vote to repeal,” said King.

After the vote to repeal, the Republicans have pledged to begin to defund ObamaCare through the Appropriations Committees, which set discretionary spending priorities. King’s strategy is to include the defunding in the appropriations bills to force Obama’s hand.

“We start unfunding the implementation and enforcement of ObamaCare in every appropriations bill,” said King. “At some point, the President is going to be compelled to sign that legislation. When he does that, he has capitulated to our agenda to repeal ObamaCare and accepted that repeal is essentially the will of the people.”

“We can easily completely defund it through the appropriations in 2011 and 2012,” said a confident King. However, King will not rest after defunding ObamaCare. He wants the law fully repealed. “ObamaCare lying there in the authorization becomes a dormant malignancy. It will metastasize if we leave it there. So we must rip it out by the roots,” he told me.

President Obama said he will not sign the repeal bill if it gets to his desk. Again, King is resolute, saying, “We can’t despair because there’s another impossible roadblock.”

King’s final step in his quest to to fully repeal ObamaCare would happen after the 2012 election. “We still have to elect a President who will sign the full repeal,” said King.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has spent every day for nine months fighting for the full repeal of ObamaCare. Although he has at times been ridiculed, ignored and doubted, King campaigned tirelessly to repeal the Democrats’ health care law.

On Tuesday, the House will start the debate and vote to repeal ObamaCare as its first major legislative action since the Republicans took control. ObamaCare repeal is expected to pass the House on Thursday, and Steve King will have been proven right all along.

“The strategy for repeal that I laid out last March is on track. First file the repeal. Then get as many signatures. Then file a discharge petition. Use it as a tool to unseat Democrats. Win a majority. Then vote to repeal ObamaCare, and we’re on track on all that,” King told HUMAN EVENTS.

I caught up with King in an elevator bank in the hotel where the House Republicans were meeting for their annual retreat. King, wearing an open-collared blue shirt and a black leather jacket, spoke intently about his dogged campaign to fully repeal ObamaCare.

“If there’s anybody in America who has pounded on the repeal of ObamaCare persistently and relentlessly every day, it’s me,” he said.

King’s dedication to repealing ObamaCare comes from a principled standpoint. “I want a country full of liberty, and freedom. And our vitality is diminished by ObamaCare, that’s my Number One argument against it.”

I noticed that some of them did not look too happy about reading it, Pelosi for one.

Did you hear him tell them to read along with the speakers and not to jump ahead? He wanted their FULL Attention, that they would understand it as they went along.

I also noticed that some of them could hardly read.
Makes you wonder how they ever read the Bills set before them?
They DON'T!!!

I hope they took the Constitution home with them for break, so they could study it more!!!

I let my divine light shine.
If shyness, self-criticism or any other personality trait is interfering with my enjoyment of life, it may be that certain characteristics no longer serve me. I am free to adopt a new way of being. To accomplish this, I begin by noticing qualities in others that I admire and wish to adopt. I observe another's light and magnetism. I look for someone who models self-acceptance and confidence. On January 6, 2011 House Republicans stood before their colleagues, constituents, and the American people to participate in the reading of the U.S. Constitution. Led by the Speaker and Majority Leader, select lawmakers took turns reciting the document. The historical event was coordinated by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and was the first time in Congress’s 221-year history that the Constitution has been read aloud on the House Floor.

“One of the resounding themes I have heard from my constituents is that Congress should adhere to the Constitution and the finite list of powers it granted to the federal government,” said Congressman Goodlatte.

House Republicans have also approved reforms requiring every piece of legislation cite the Constitutional authority in which it was created. Republicans outlined this reform in their ongoing Pledge to America- Please see the following excerpt:

"With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America."

"We pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored – particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

Stop Defending Your Self-Image

Over the years you have built an idealized self-image that you defend as “me.” In this image are packed all the things you want to see as true about yourself; banished from it are all the shameful, guilty, and fear-provoking aspects that would threaten your self-confidence.

But the very aspects you try to push away return as the most insistent, demanding voices in your head. The act of banishment creates the chaos of your internal dialogue, and thus your ideal erodes even while you are doing everything to look good and feel good about yourself.

To really feel good about yourself, renounce your self-image. Immediately you will find yourself being more open, undefended, and relaxed.

Much time is spent in self-help trying to turn a bad self-image into a good one. As reasonable as that sounds, all self-images have the same pitfall: They keep reminding you of who you were, not who you are. The whole idea of I, me, and mine was erected on memories, and these memories are not really you. If you release yourself from your self-image, you will be free to choose as if for the first time.

Self-image keeps reality away, particularly at the emotional level. Many people don’t want to admit what they are actually feeling. Their self-image dictates that being angry, for example, or showing anxiety is not permissible. Such feelings don’t accord with the “kind of person I want to be.”

Certain emotions feel too dangerous to be part of your ideal image of yourself, so you adopt a disguise that excludes those feelings. Deep-seated rage and fear belong in this category, but sadly so does immense joy, ecstasy, or freewheeling spontaneity.

You stop being ruled by self-image when: You feel what you feel, you are no longer offended by things, you stop appraising how a situation makes you look, you don’t exclude people you feel superior or inferior to, you quit worrying about what others think about you, you no longer obsess over money, status, and possessions, and you no longer feel the urge to defend your opinions.

Inner Peace

In the silence of the Christ Presence within, I find peace.
My day is more peaceful when I spend time in meditation, contemplation and prayer. Closing my eyes, I turn within and gently disconnect from any concerns that might be weighing on my mind. I breathe into the peace of the Christ Presence within. My body and mind relax completely.

Affirming divine life, I know the wholeness of my true nature. Affirming divine substance, I know all good things are right here, right now. Affirming the light of Spirit, my guidance is assured. In this conscious awareness, I find peace. I abide in peace for long moments of silence, which energizes and prepares me for the rest of my day. Whatever is ahead for me today, I am calm and serene.

Prosperity

I claim my good. The Universe is boundless!
I give thanks for the beauty and bounty of Earth, for the variety of life it sustains and for our planet's capacity to replenish and rejuvenate itself.

A basic spiritual principle states that good is everywhere present, and everywhere I look, I see this is true. One person smiles at a friend, and the friend smiles back. A customer exchanges money for goods; the customer prospers, the cashier prospers, and the shop owner prospers. A child invites another to play with his or her toys, and both children have more fun.

As I give to others, I open the way to greater blessings through the principles of Spirit. The Universe is boundless, and I claim and contribute to my good now.
