the smell of wrights coal tar soap makes me think of my dad ....... he always had that smell about him
and vicks vapour rub, takes me right back to my childhood .......when i use it on my kids now , it makes me happy ...... even tho im using it to help them sleep due to a cold
they can bring back powerful emotions with them for sure....some sad...some happy....some that make us angry....its amazing how real and vivid they can be sometimes...
i love....and occasionally hate... how certain songs...smells...etc... can trigger some intense and vivid memories
i just heard a song on tv that did that....so many memories from that one song
memories that have laid dormant for so many years can flood back in a millisecond
the song was in the air tonight by phil collins ...the memories are old and boring so i wont go into them ;) lol...but they are good memories this time
also the smell of butter, it reminds me of my nana who past a few years ago ......... she was always baking and had that lovely buttery bakery smell about her house
im off for a 3 week holiday next week, and as im staying with family, there will be laundrey facilities on hand
i will be able to fit all i need into one suitcase
i never take toiletries, or sun tan lotion or stuff like that, i usually get that when i get to my destination, and leave all that behind when im off home again
i take a nice selection of going out clothes, but stuff for the beach, and hanging around the apartment/hotel, i take my old stuff [stuff thats ok to wear, but i dont really want anymore,] and i leave that behind as well
same with my kids ..... kids are growing all the time and need new outfits, so instead of buying new holiday clothes, i save the money and buy the clothes while im on holiday, so we have a fun shopping day, and find things we wouldnt find at the stores back home
and i take old t faded t shirts and shorts for them for the beach, and leave them behind at the end of the holiday
same as towels ......... they take up so much room in a case ..... and are so cheap to buy, i usually take 2 old ones, and buy a few when im holidaying
all in all ........ the stuff ive left behind, leaves room for the new stuff i aquired
even from day 1 i made a few threads and they got responded to
have added to ppls threads, some ppls have agreed with what i have to say, some have laughed at it, and some have not liked it at all
but ive never felt unaccepted
as for gilly, i like some of his threads and reply, and dislike some and dont reply ...... but that goes for other ppls threads too ...... i would never dream of telling anyone to "give it a rest"
when ppl complain that they would like "interesting topics and conversation" theres a simple enough answer
make an interesting thread and converse with the ppl that respond to it
job jobbed !!
when we watch tv ....... we use the remote to switch over or surf the channels when we dont like what we are seeing
easy enough to apply that in here ...... read a bit, skip a bit, until you find a bit ya like
and if nothing sparks ya interest ........ theres always an off button and a good book on a shelf somewhere
RE: Name That Movie....
awwwwwwww did i kill the thread ?? lolit was from the film dumbo !!!
