my story ......... well kinda connected so here goes
my next door neighbour has a young son, he was 12 when this happened
he went off fishing early am with a friend of his, 4 or 5 hours later, his mum, who is having coffee at my house gets a call on her mobile, the call is from her sons phone
its a grown mans voice and the first thing he says is ...." i have your son"
she went mental, nearly passed out and was shouting and screaming so much, i had to take the phone from her to find out what had happened
anyway ........ by now she is on my land line calling the police
it was all pretty innocent, her son had got a fish hook gone thru his thumb, her son was crying and in a lot of pain, which we could hear thru the phone, which added to her panic .......and all this guy did was stop to see if he could help, and called her so she knew what was going on, and so she could go collect her son
poor bloke ........ i bet he thinks twice about stopping and helping next time
you cant resist buying a pair of gorgeous shoes that suddenly catch your eye, even though you know you really cant afford them, do you go ahead with it ??
your best friend is applying for a job with a big company and she/he told you about it, you are also interested in applying, do you go ahead with it or not?
we all have pangs of guilt sometimes, but do these feelings stop you from achieving what you really want???
There was an old cowhand who owned a small ranch in Montana. The Montana Wage & Hour Department claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him.
"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the agent.
"Well," replied the rancher, "There's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $600 a week plus free room and board."
"The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $500 per week plus free room and board."
"Then there's the half-wit who works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night."
"That's the guy I want to talk to, the half-wit," says the agent.
