the word halloween comes from what the christians call all hallows eve or all saints day
samhain is the celtic new year, and comes from the 5th century before christ, samhain is when summer officially ends
this is the time it was believed that the dead came back to visit us in search of living bodies to possess
so the ancient celts would put out all of the fires in their houses. so that the house would be to cold and undesireable for a spirit to visit and therefore possess
the tradition of dressing up comes from way back then, when the villagers would dress up in ghoulish costumes so the spirits would think anyone dressed up as a spirit, was a spirit, so the dressed up ppl would be safe from possession
the dressed up ppl would walk around the village with jack o lanterns to scare the real spirits away
the romans later adopted these rituals as their own, and first off dedicated the holiday of samhain to the goddess of fruit and trees, and this is where the tradition of apple bobbing comes from
over time ....... things changed ....... as they always do
and the irish immigrants took " halloween" to america, when they were fleeing the great potato famine
trick or treating is thought to have come from the custom of "souling" which was not celtic in origin, but came later in the 9th century and was a european custom of walking the village on all souls day begging for "soul cakes" the more cakes you got, the more prayers you said for the person who gave you the cakes, so if you gave someone a lot of cakes, you were more likely to be safe from possession of souls
a jack o lantern is from anciant celtic times and originally were made from turnip or swede, its only since the irish too halloween to america pumpkins were commonly used
jack was, according to folk lore a drunkard and joker, and he tricked the devil into climbing a tree, jack carved a cross into the tree trunk and that trapped the devil up there, jack then made a deal with the devil, that if the devil promised never to tempt jack again, then jack would lwt him down. When jack died, he was refused entry into heaven and into hell, but the devil gave him an ember, and this was placed inside a hollow turnip so jack could find his way thru the darkness
altho some religions have adopted halloween as a holiday and we embrace the traditions it really grew from celts celebrating the end of the year and the harvest, and european medievil rituals,
A young couple left the church and arrived at the hotel where they were spending the first night of their honeymoon. They opened the champagne and began undressing. When the bridegroom removed his socks, his new wife asked,
"What's wrong with your feet? Your toes look all mangled and weird. "I had tolio as a child," he answered. "You mean polio?" she asked. "No, tolio. The disease only affected my toes." When the groom took off his pants, his bride once again asked
"What's wrong with your knees? They're all lumpy and deformed!" "As a child, I also had kneasles," he explained. "You mean measles?" she asked. "No, kneasles. It was a strange illness that only affected my knees." The new bride had to be satisfied with this answer. As the undressing continued, her husband at last removed his underwear.
"Don't tell me," she said. "Let me guess... Smallcox?"

as for believing in god
do wiccans beleive in god??
they believe in THE ALL..........THE ONE but this is a duality even tho it is called the one, has male and female aspects
they believe in the god and goddess, or divinity, and divinity is seen not just as masculine , like in other religions. it is masculine and feminine, this belief come from the duality of all of nature. it is the oldest religon in the world and was almost wiped out by christianity. most of the christian holidays stem from wiccan holidays. just changed slightly to convert the masses.
it is a religion that the natural world is an expression of divinity
wicca is about self expression as long as no harm is done
it is a religion that accepts and does not control
it does not set out laws to tell you how to live your life it is up to you, be it alone or with a covern

They started arguing about the pronunciation of the town's name. They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde employee,
Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are... very slowly?" The blonde girl leaned over the counter and said.....,
