RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

I think you already know that for clarification I took that figure from the aforementioned statistic... 102.3%... coincidence.. no?? smile

RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

Hiya.. can you prove ur assertion that what was said was a lie?.... mention of 'Thor' doesn't really prove anything... Early God's and religions were based mainly on instinct, due to societies limited understanding, it was not until later with the incidence of various Prophets that understanding grew...

If you read the Bible you can see that the various Prophesies tie in and are consistent... despite the various Prophets living centuries apart and often coming from vastly different locations... I have only begun to read the Bible and it is a most illuminating and facinating document....particularly the words of prophets.. JMV

RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

Just for clarification 2.3% of the population are 'athiest'

RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

Also the decline in faith is most likely to be linked to the huge scandals that have plagued the Church e.g. Paeodophilia and the level of wealth that they possess in contract with the devastating poverty that exists in the world... corruption in the church and hypocracy is contemplated in the Bible and firmly rebuked..

The actions of these 'men' has nothing to do with God, its just that unfortunately a Church built solely on Stone cannot resist penetration by evil sources.. the gradual increase in Power and Ego amongst Church leaders has led to a literal 'rotting at the core' of the Churches they represent... again not God's fault.. free will unfortunately is something which he has expressly given us.. we (as human beings) make our own choices..

It it this gradual decline of Institutional Religion that has led to a gradual decrease in believers.. at the same time however more people cite themselves as 'spiritual, not religious'.. this is a good place to be because it is a place of searching..

Also look at tables relating to breakdown of the various Religions (most of which are 'God' based) you will find that the VAST majority of people in the world believe in God.. statistically given the likely spread of intelligence (based on the law of averages) your argument just simply does not stand...

Major religious groups as a percentage of the world population in 2005 (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In summary, religious adherence of the world's population is as follows: "Abrahamic": 53.5%, "Indian": 19.7%, irreligious: 14.3%, "Far Eastern": 6.5%, tribal religions: 4.0%, new religious movements: 2.0%.

According to these figures potentially an upwards figure of 27% are not God based.. what are the statistical chances that the remaining 73% of the population (who are God and/or Gods based)all have a substandard IQ ?

RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

Not true at all I have an IQ in the 130's and genius runs in my family (both sides) and we are all at the very least believe in God.. rubbish.. Einstein among other scientific luminaries also believed in God.... plucking meaningless statistics from sources who are intent of disproving God or justifying their belief is not what I would call reliable to say the least.. Just sayin...

Apart from listing quotes from other sources and knocking my (personal) views.. do you ever ACTUALLY have anything to contribute.. OK..so you don't believe in God... cool... your entitlement... maybe someday you will actually express your own views which do not rely on knocking other peoples

I responded to the question in accordance with my own thoughts and ideas on the subject as I am entitled to do..

RE: how many gods are there ? what does a god really do ? and what people do god or gods really like ?

One God and one creator Gilly.... if you think about it logically, that would have to be the case.. The very term 'God' signifies an 'all powerful entity', which is superior in ever way... if there were more than one all powerful entity, this would cause alot of confusion and possible conflict, and the only way that their dominion would work effectively is if they had exclusive control over it.. whether there are different God's for different Solar Systems or dimensions is another question.. I am inclined to think not... though for obvious reasons nobody can really give a definitive answer

Some of our general confusion on this topic arises out of the fact that there are a number of Religions... understandable, however many Religions derive from the same source e.g Christianity, Judaism and Islam and they mainly diverge (for their own reasons) on the points of the nature and character of God (Holy Trinity or Single Deity etc) and the significance of Jesus (though all above mentioned accept he did exist)... apart from the above mentioned there are numerous other religions which accept that their exists a principle God... very often their 'idea' and 'notion' of what characterises this God is very similar in character... I believe this is because we are born with an inherent 'knowledge' of God (almost like DNA imprint) which is then open to interpretation based on what we are exposed to culturaly, but think about it.. despite such way out and abstract concepts such as the soul, god and spiritual realms.. most if not all of us have no difficulty accepting the 'concepts' themselves on some level.. whether we agree with them or not.. this reinforces my view that there exists a single omnipotent all powerful being... this could explain also why there has always been an inherent inclination to worship.. be it the sun or god or whatever, and also why there has prevailed throughout the centuries numerous 'religions' throughout the centuries which have displayed freakingly similar 'prophesies'... maybe that is no accident, and maybe they are predicted the single most important event to occur in religion and that is the coming of Christ (whether one accepts him or not)... and the only reason why there have been numerous interpretations of him over the years is that time and Gods plan had to take its natural course...

Anyway rambling again....

RE: why do people attract the same type?

Hiya wave hug

After each negative experience we have to take stock and look truthfully at the situation and ourselves and seek to see what lesson this situation is trying to teach us.. there is ALWAYS a lesson.... these trials are lifes way of enriching us, building us up and making us better people...

I had a negative experience recently with a person from here.. what I learned from that situation is not to trust every thing that people say... especially men... many of them will say anything to get what they want (which is often an ego massage laugh)... scripture says that you should judge them by their fruits... this is a good guide I feel... cause people (including ourselves) can say anything... but it is our actions which count..

I wish u the best of luck... they are not all like that... laugh...no REALLY they aren't ...

Keep the faith... God bless

RE: Thinking out loud ...

The thing is we are not Kid... really think about it... while evil and bad deeds as well as a capacity for tremendous goodness will always and ever be there.. the way we are evolving in society with increased commercialism, longer working hours and eroding freedoms has meant the the 'simple' values.. the ones which work best no longer represent the norm.. for many leading a simple life is a distant luxurious dream (or at least it will seem that way) because they are so inextricably caught up in the responsibilities of life that they can't break free.. RE: very attractive singles are they really single or

Hiya.... I think the question in itself and the Poll kinda answers the question.... good looking people often have a tough time finding someone cause people automatically judge them as being vacuous or full of themselves or they sometimes feel intimidated by them.... I have a few friends like this and in a way they have a worse time meeting guys... one common problem also, is that the guy (or girl) is so focused on the attraction that either they are not bothered to get to know the person or they have completely misjudged them.. one friend of mine (Kat)has been having a terrible time of it with men and she is stunning (legs worthy of an advert) and really intelligent and elegant..but at the same time she is a lovely sincere person.. yet she has been treated sooo badly.. mind boggles JMV

RE: Men and Women emotionally..

Hey sweetheart.. just lookin over ur posts there.. had no idea you were feeling so down hug hug... look honey, if he loves you (which he obviously does) he doesn't NEED to speak to you everyday... does that make sense... security brings with it a sense of peace and comfort, and doesn't need continuous nurturing.. that is a very health thing.. all I can suggest by way of advice is occupy your time as best you can with friends and family (or if nobody around at the mo) do things that you enjoy... when you do speak to him.. make the most of it, and let it be a fun enjoyable time for both of you, rather than a reminder of how much you miss him.. it'll all be fine... and just think.. when he gets back what it'll be like devil laugh...

I'm here if you need me honey..

Its a great Photo.. u look really bubbly and happy and fun!!... then all ur photos are lovely... it does definitely give you an impression of someone I reckon.. from when I started here I got the impression that you were real bubbly and happy-go-lucky... the photo as well as ur posts would have assisted in me forming that opinion..

I wonder why...

Not if the person looks miserable and/or scary... nothing to do with looks.. I have never fallin for the typical 'good looking' type.. it has always been personality first for me...

Plus am not even looking here so doesn't matter either way.. just an observation is all..wave

I wonder why...

Ur photo is lovely it shows that you are a nice person and not some miserable and/or scary person...

hug

I hope people don't take this the wrong way... but putting up a photo is like an opportunity to 'market' urself in a way and portray as best u can (using limited means) something about the person that you are.. if you look miserable in a photo, it may just give the impression that you are miserable in real life.. just sayin.. dunno

Hiya honey wave

What prompted me to put this up was a flower I got from someone who clearly looked like a depressed convict on death row.. good grief!!!... with camera photos and everything now it shouldn't be too hard to muster up a smile and then click... baffling...laugh

I just got a stoopid email there as well from this guy.. blowing on about me 'in his dreams.... etc you can imagine the rest... good grief!!! what scares me is some girls must actually fall for this insincere tripe... sigh...

Anyway.. must have got out of the wrong side of the bed laugh...
