Guiriman, great Spanish tortilla recipe!!! At home we used to use left over chunky home made chips for tortilla the next day ... just chop them into chunks and refry them in a little olive oil then add the rest of ingridients as per Guiri's recipe
Another variation which is delicious is to use spring onions (including the green leaves) chopped into chunks and friend in olive oil instead of potatoe/onion
Thank f%ck someone gets the picture...... you wanna go halve's on the movie rights?Brilliant............. hopefully the women get this.....[/quote]
I do hope that was not a .......ist remark Stooie!!!!!
Why do you hope the women get this? Will it spoil a god night sleep if some of us don't? And those who don't is it because they're woman or because they're not on the same wave length? What exactely are you insinuating with your comment?
Does the question still stand if the jokes don't come from other sites? I mean, could they each be in a thread of their own if if they're not being poached from competing sites?
I have this theory though .... people who make the most fuss about the size of anything of theirs ... well ...
As we know "big" like everything else is relative ...
I once had a colleague who started working full time again because the money she was receiving monthly from her ex-husband was not enough to keep her in the manner she was accostumed to. Now bearing in mind the amount she was receiving from her ex was the same I was earning monthly as a a teacher which was enough to keep me and my 2 kids in relative comfort ... But for her it was not enough, even though she was also receiving extra money for her kids
As it accured to you that some people have actually come to the realisation that health, peace of mind, love and simple things win over money any day ... If money was more important than anything in the world then why do wealthy people not live happily ever after while they gaze at their belongings? Why do they still chase after the rainbow of love and companionship?
I was talking about spending time with Spanish families since my families were all Spanish before my brothers married French ladies and I married a British man. Now we have 4th generation Spanish, French and British. Viva Europe!!!! Makes for even more interesting Christmas days whichever country we spend them in!!!!
As a matter of interest ... how many Spanish families have you spent Christmas with?
Christmas day, would not agree with you about not being a big deal!!! I have great memories of Christmas days with relatives and cousins and a lot of fun. Things that you can't buy!!! You are looking at it from the outside. I was living it when I was a kid. But I agree that it came without the commercial hype found in some other countries.
Stooie ... surely you mean in Spain Christmas day is not celebrated in a commercial frenzy like in the UK!!!!
In fact I have just discovered a few weeks ago a CD called Navidad Gitana with ALL the Christmas songs we used to listen to on the radio, at my grandparents in Andalucia, at Christmas time and also my parents used to sing when I was a kid. In Spain, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus so all the towns and villages will have displays, some very elaborate, with Nativity scenes. Christmas eve (24th evening) families get together and share a nice meal including some baked goodies that only get made at Christmas time and eat, chat, drink and sing Christmas Carols into the night. Some might go to mid-night mass. On the 25th relatives visit one another and share time and more food and goodies.
The children get gifts on St Nicholas day (6th Jan) which also is when the 3 wise men (Kings) visited Jesus and brought him the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Since Spain joined the EU in some big towns Father Christmas has started appearing and some kids et gifts to open on Christmas day. But still it remains more of a celebration of the birth of Jesus.
having the strength to face up to what has to be faced in life (whatever it is) without wasting too much time feeling sorry for myself ...
Why am I proud of it? Because my children have learned from it that it is ok to make mistakes in our choices and it´s ok to face up to them and ok to deal with and move on... Even when it seems that we have no choice, we still have the choice of how we react to it ...
