Yet, Th L-rd Sayith, Vengence is mine. That is enough for me.
I grew up way, way out in the Boonies and have Family in the Appalachians, as well.
I very, very well know, first hand, the violence that does not stop when family goes against family of one that wronged another.
I grew up hitting the deck and dodging bullets b/c my Family's farm was between my area's Hatfield and McCoy type of Families.
Even on my own Bridle Trail I have had a rifle trained on me by a trespasser causing my Thoroughbred Race Horse to rear and almost fall over backwards.... Being shot at while I was plowing fields or under the gastank of a vehicle whilst making repairs, on and on and on....
It is not for us to take a life.
G-d even spared Cain's life when he murdered Abel. So If G-d gave a murderer another chance, whom are we to do less?
My Da told us that at one time in Humanity's History, There were Tribes that required the Murderer to absorb the famlily of one they murdered along with their own, under Tribal Supervision - providing the best for them, in food, etc, equal to and in some cases over their own family - for life - thereby making retribution.
Even Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi made this recommendation to a man that had murdered a man of another faith and was torn over his actions, causing him to approach Ghandi for advice.
He told him that in order to find peace, to adopt a Muslim Child and make sure he raised him to be a good, peaceful and honourable Muslim. This was not going to be easy b/c the man was NOT Muslim.
So, in order to ensure the child became the best and Honoured the Faith of the murdered man, HE had to learn a culture and religion that he hated so he could teach an innocent Child . . . .
I still stand by the earlier post, that there is something missing in a criminal's psyche, Biochemistry, etc. It would be far more humane to all - the crimial and the victims and their families to find the missing peices and help them as outlined in my previous post.
Besides if Cryoscience was a viable option, then the criminal still could be sentenced to a very lengthly sleep, to where all he or she cared for were were gone when they were awakened thereby causing them to live the same pain they bestowed upon another.
In addition, getting Cryoscience right, could also benefit the victim in the future with advanced medicine to 'bring them back to life' so to speak.
I like to believe I would be forgiving in the event that I might lose a loved one to violence. I know that it would be difficult.
However, I still believe taking the Higher Road is the Better Path - leaving the Vengence to a higher Power or G-d, that created us both. JMHO
We are set to get 7 to 15 inches of snow by 10 PM tomorrow night.
The last time they said we would get 5-12 inches just a few short weeks ago, I got 21 to 22 inches of Snow in my yard and we all had to be plowe out in our camp area!!!!
Will be home soon and cuddling with my Furbabies for the whole weekend. Just had to make sure I have som last minute supplies.
I live so far from School, in my area's Secondary Snowbelt, my Prof's said don't come all this way, we will see you Tuesday.
Any one else looking forward to just huddling down for a few days, even if it is just reading or studying, as long as it is warm?
Most times ~ 4-5. This will go on for weeks then I will suddenly be able to sleep AND I DO mean SLEEP! At those rare times it will be ~ 10 hrs for 1 to two days.
My body is still adjusting to becoming 'normal' after years of being ill, though. My Dr. told me be patient it will happen in time.
I do not agree with capital punishment. It is flawed, like all other things. I would prefer to see other alternatives, however they have yet to be found.
In the Future, I think perhaps as we understand more of the mind and biochemical systems, and can say improve Cryonics, Cryotherapy, even Cryosurgery might be an option to correcting these flaws in ciminals.
So sad. I saw a Japanese film that showed this just like you have written. . . So most likely to be true given human nature and that makes it even sadder. . . .

I did not browse through all 100 pages just enough to see that the pages from pg 2 on seem to be on travel articles. These two links I detaled above are on the first page, and the most promising.
Hope this helps all out there that have had trouble getting in to NG'S Archives
I am not like you two, my disablities do not show up, until people get to know me or they figure it out when they realize I am not aware they are trying to get my attention.
My speech is so close to normal that others are shocked when I let them know I am deaf. I have only had three people in my life that knew I was deaf, from the first we talked. Two said it was b/c they had a deaf family member, the other and one of the family members said it was b/c if you listen very closely, the nuances and inflection is just slightly off.
Contrastly, in the work world, I have had Supervisors/Human Resource Personnell accuse me of lying on my Application about the deafness. . . . Go figure.
In any case, I too, ask the same question.
My heart out to the both of you Fellow Sister and Brother in the same boat.
Hi, just arrived at the Student Union and am eating a late dinner.
I have not found out more.
I am not sure of the NG Archives, as yet. But most large respectect institutions DO have them though, sometimes it can be like a needle in a haystack. It may be possible that it is only one of those things one can find b/c there is a University link.
RE: Am I the granny of the site?
Not a Granny. . . . Not even a Mom other than having raised a G/F's Son for the first 3 yrs of his life......
