..... Not sure, but I doubt they had much of, if any quality control or quality assurance programs to test the accuracy and repeatability of the measurements or how the data may have been handled.

Homeland security is hearing immigration issues today... Oh boy yay

I understand congress can cut immigration funding for this without shutting down government.

Hmm, you must believe the accuracy of their ambient temperature measurements are accurate and that data were never fudged. help

RE: Global Warming deniers, here's more proof you are completely wrong

Ever wonder what kind of accuracy that the temperature measuring devices 100 years ago and before then had, and their data which are compared to today's temperature measurements?
Most reputable monitoring entities measuring ambient temperatures today use NIST certified or NIST traceable temperature measuring devices.

(NIST - National Institute of Standards and Technology, previously known as NBS or National Bureau of Standards... which the U.S. measurement standards laboratory.)

RE: Global Warming deniers, here's more proof you are completely wrong

Although I'm usually very environmental conscious, I couldn't help but suggest something ludicrous to some authorities in Naples, Italy when I noticed their extreme solid waste disposal issue there back in 2006-2008. Incredibly, everyone's trash in the suburbs there was piling up higher than mount rumpke is in SE Ohio. My suggestion: build a conveyor system to move the trash up and over into Mount Vesuvius. uh oh

RE: CS Advent Calendar 2014

confused how does something like this happen.

RE: Global Warming deniers, here's more proof you are completely wrong

Believe what you want then. My 33-years working in air quality monitoring and enforcement in air pollution control tells me differenty about this group and any group supporting their agenda.

RE: Global Warming deniers, here's more proof you are completely wrong

So, this is why republican President Nixon pushed for and founded the U.S. EPA?

RE: Global Warming deniers, here's more proof you are completely wrong

This United Nations entity is geopolitical and not scientific. They openly admit that this group does not conduct any research nor does it monitor climate related data or parameters.
They propagate the same nonsense, regardless of left or right leaning.
From the perspective of real science, this climate change issue is not based on empirical evidence.

RE: actual letter sent to congress on immigration

i can't argue with any of that. Others will argue that "the U.S. economy has grown in the past 20 years despite NAFTA, not because of it.”

RE: Ferguson Case !!

wow

RE: Ferguson Case !!

Al Sharpton is probably the only reason MSNBC is still operating. Trash talk. Sure would be nice if someone would sue him over damages occurred in the recent riots.

Brendan Tevlin was slain by jihadist serial killer but there's hardly any coverage. No one is outraged.

Charles Barkley spoke up in favor of the cops and appreciating how they keep our neighborhoods safe.

Sir Charles thumbs up

Al Sharpton thumbs down

Barkley:
Barkley called those who reacted to the decision by rioting "scumbags."

"There is no excuse for people to be out there burning down people's businesses, burning down police cars," he said.

And unlike protesters who have likened police in minority neighborhoods to an occupying force, Barkley said the black community owes a debt of gratitude to cops.

“e have to be really careful with the cops, because if it wasn’t for the cops we would be living in the Wild, Wild West in our neighborhoods," he said. "We can’t pick out certain incidentals that don’t go our way and act like the cops are all bad.... Do you know how bad some of these neighborhoods would be if it wasn't for the cops?”

RE: Ferguson Case !!

Hm, maybe I should have used expanding or hollow-point, mushroom on contact instead of tumble style bullets in my previous post. Police here are required to use this type ammunition to qualify to carry. In any case the hollow point bullet leaves a larger hole if it does exit body mass, but it doesn't have much energy left after that.

Growing in popularity with some police here is the Mi-bullet or multiple impact bullet, expands into four interconnected parts as it exits the barrel, improving accuracy.

RE: Ferguson Case !!

Too risky, because a dart is usually fired from a rifle and can penetrate and leave a victim, possibly harming anyone behind the intended target.... Whereas, bullets most police use are designed to tumble around inside the intended target and not exit.
