Actually just thought of another good thing about ipods. The customer service is excellent. Once you register it, they have everything on file. I had a problem with my first one. They arranged a courier to come to me, collect it and then sent a courier back out with a new one 2 days later. No trouble at all with their staff or getting through to them. I'd recommend them to anyone just for that. My first was Zen, and it kept crashing. Used the reset button so many times in broke. Then I dropped it down 3 flights of stone stairs and it STILL didn't work. Disgracefull. This was about 10 years ago though so their firmware may be better now.
I've never had any issues with music not from iTunes. In fact I have about 40gb of music on mine and only 1 song is from iTunes. All the rest is from CD's or other sites. I do agree that Zen is good though. Guess it's just what you're used to. If someone handed me a zen I'd probably think it was crap now cause I couldn't work it properly.
