It isn't up to our religious leaders, store chains, or charities to make Christmas what it is meant to be. It is up to us. Sure there are alot of commericials saying to buy certain things to make your Christmas special, sure there are those in religion that say it is your Christian obligation to remember the birth of Christ, sure there are those that say that people should give to charities...but the thing is, it's up to each & every one of us to let the Christmas Spirit thrive within us...All the gifts, all the praying & all the donations mean nothing, if you yourself, cannot find the Christmas Spirit within. It is up to us to let it live.

Everyone wants to blame the above mentioned entities and others of their own, but they fail to point the finger at themselves, the sole place that the Christmas Spirit resides.

In essance, if you feel that the Christmas Spirit is a farce, then that is exactly what it will be. However, if you want the Christmas Spirit to thrive within yourself, then it will.

I wouldn't take an individual gift for both, but more so a gift for both.

Personally, and this is just me, I wouldn't have inserted myself into that situation, but if I had, I would just make it a joint gift.
