Haters / thumbsdowners

When I first found our about this site 7 or 8 years ago, I was looking for a partner.
I didn't find a partner, but as a practice of mine on datingsites, I'd delete my profile after a few months, stay away a few months or a year, and start again.

The reason why I kept coming back to CS, was because I even thought I wasn't a member, I still enjoyed reading the inspirational blogs, forums and recipes, but couldn't comment on anything.

These days, the blog and forums are filled with haters/thumbsdowners, abusive name calling and yes, the scammers, because even they have found their way here.... all because the harmony, which was once alive in the blogs etc. seems to be gone.

True, it wasn't always chocolate and roses in the blogs and forums, but atleast discrepancies were discussed in a much more civilised manner than now. Most of the good writers from then have either died, been blocked from the site, or just have enough of the behaviour and left, or don't bother to write anymore, but still use the site.

Time to be civilised again, before CS either decides to become a paying site or close the blogs, forums etc., I assume we're all adults on this site, so here's a tip: In this life, not everyone's gonna like us or agree with what we have to say or write, so grow up, and get over it, as it's all a part of human nature. Stop hiding behind the internet to spread hatred / thumbsdowners.

Make CS a place where it's fun to come and be inspired by the writers again, not a place where you're getting put down, because others are dissatisfied in their own real miserable life!!!!!.....it doesn't mean you have to do the same here for others. JMPOV. They say karma is a bit$h, so be careful it doesn't come back to bite you in real life.

I'm gonna get quite a few "thumbsdown" for this blog, but you know what: I'm strong enough to handle such cowardice, as none of you are brave enough to write on a blog or forum "hey, it's me, xyz who gave a thumbsdown on your writing, I did it because of adcd..." so IDGAS.

I was brave enough to do it, the 1 time I gave a thumbsdown, as the remark to the blog in question, was rightly deserving of it. Unfortunately, the OP of the blog, deleted my comment, but left the reason for my comment on his blog.

My life is good because I wish it to be so.

Today was my good friend Dédé's 50th birthday and it had been bothering him for some time that he would soon be arriving at that date. I don't understand why exactly but it is clearly some kind of dreaded watershed in his mind because he has been reminding me of it for about eighteen months now. However, he was happy enough today but that, I'm sure was enhanced by the copious amount of alcohol he imbibed.
It is a forty minute drive to my house from his, on little winding roads with no traffic save me. They pass through the beautiful Breton countryside, and it is a lovely spring day for one to enjoy all that there is. I again find myself thinking how lucky can I be, thank you Universe!
My life is good because I wish it to be so, because I appreciate the even the small things which come my way. It could be improved only by the addition of a girl whom I love and who loves me, but the lack of said girl doesn't make me sad or spoil my enjoyment of something which I perceive as beautiful.
I'm sure if I tried I could think of some negative things, to spoil that perception of perfection, but why would I want to do that? I could for example think how much older than my friend I am but that would be pointless, meaningless in fact. He may not live to be my age, many haven't, he may live to be older than I am now, but then so shall I and I am excited by all the things which can be learned and my friend is not.
So was I like that when a young man of fifty? No! I appreciated the things in my life then, as I do now, but did, sometimes, loose sight of just how lucky I was, and that, my friends, is how I come to be here, on this site.

Inner Voices

There are times in my life when I feel like I'm going through things that I believe no one else has gone through (at least not anyone I know). So if no one has gone through or is going through a similar situation, it makes me think that no one could really understand me. And since I'm an over thinker (for those who don't know the term, it's someone who thinks too much, analyzes everything in the smallest detail, several times), this makes me see things from two different perspectives. On the one hand, it's weird to know that you're not understood by the people around you and that you may not even be able to talk to them about certain things for various reasons. On the other hand, if by absurdity you meet someone who can understand you, that would mean that that person has either been through that situation or is still in a similar situation. This, on the one hand, can be pleasant (not to be taken the wrong way) to know that someone understands you. But on the other hand, it can be very unpleasant, especially if you're also an empathetic person. And if your situation is really bad and you're supposed to be a good person, then...would it really be easy for you to know that there's someone else going through a similar situation as you? Maybe in situations like this you end up preferring to be truly unique, to be truly the only one going through a situation like this. (Of course, the subject can also be seen differently...generalized and seen as in any problem...but that would lead to another subject that could be more difficult to explain.)

LOVE YOU!

I never really knew you
You were just another friend
But when I got to know you,
I let my heart unbend.
I couldn't help past memories
that would only make me cry
I had to forget my first love
and give love another try
So I've fallen in love with you
and I'll never let you go
I love you more than anyone
I just had to let you know
And if you ever wonder why
I don't know what I'll say
But I'll never stop loving you
each and every day
My feelings for you will never change
Just know my feelings are true
Just remember one thing
I Love You!

Three Aspects of Successful Intelligence re Person

To be successfully intelligent is to think well in three different ways: analytically, creatively, and practically. Typically, only analytical intelligence is valued on tests and in the classroom. Yet the style of intelligence that schools most readily recognize may well be less useful to many students in their adult lives than creative and practical intelligence.

The three aspects of successful intelligence are related. Analytical or componential thinking is required to solve problems and to judge the quality of ideas. Creative or experiential intelligence is required to formulate good problems and ideas in the first place. Practical or contextual intelligence is needed to use the ideas and their analysis in an effective way in one’s everyday life.

Successful intelligence is most effective when it balances all three of its analytical, creative, and practical aspects. It is more important to know when and how to use these aspects of successful intelligence than just to have them. Successfully intelligent people don’t just have abilities, they reflect on when and how to use these abilities effectively.

“The theory suggests that successfully intelligent people are those who have the ability to achieve success according to their own definition of success, within their socio-cultural context. They do so by identifying and capitalizing on their strengths, and identifying and correcting or compensating for their weaknesses in order to adapt to, shape, and select environments. Such attunement to the environment uses a balance of analytical, creative, and practical skills. The theory views intelligence as a form of developing competencies, and competencies as forms of developing expertise. In other words, intelligence is modifiable rather than fixed.” ~ R. Sternberg (http://www.yale.edu/rjsternberg/#higher)

Analytical Componential Intelligence

Analytical intelligence encompasses the ability to think abstractly and process information effectively. Persons high on this dimension are able to think critically and analytically. Analytical intelligence emphasizes effectiveness in information processing and is characterized by high test scores and high I.Q. scores.

Creative Experiential Intelligence

Creative intelligence includes the ability to formulate new ideas, to combine seemingly unrelated facts or information. It emphasizes insight and the ability to invent new solutions and is overlooked by test scores.

Practical Contextual Intelligence

Practical intelligence covers the ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions and to shape the environment so as to maximize one’s strengths and compensate for one’s weaknesses. It emphasizes intelligence in a practical sense. Persons high on this dimension quickly recognize what factors influence success on various tasks and are adept at both adapting to and shaping their environment so that they can accomplish various goals. Practical intelligence is not reflected in test scores.
