The Power of Words

When we were growing up and would encounter the cruel tongues of other children, we were taught a rhyme designed to assauge our hurt feelings: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Who hasn't since learned to prefer the crippling pain of a broken bone over the searing arrow of a distressing word embedded in the heart?

The Bible says that the tongue is impossible to tame, comparing its power to direct the course of our lives to that of a bit in the horse's mouth being used to control its body, or that of a tiny rudder directing the course of a ship. But is it their wielding by the untempered tongue or the substance of the words themselves, be they accidentally discharged in the urgency of a heated moment or eloquently woven with deliberate precision and released with calculating aim, that have the power to heal or to destroy? The inaudible voice of the mute is the same to the hearing ear as the sonorous persuasiveness of the most eloquent tongue to the ear of the deaf. It is development of the language with which we convey thoughts and feelings, and not the ability to "talk" that sets us apart from other animals. An infant can communicate his needs by making sounds, but his ability to make himself understood is very limited until he learns the words to express what he is feeling.

Unfortunately, within the ability to make ourselves understood lies the inherent pitfall of being misunderstood.

I've always been one who could express myself better in writing than in conversation, at least in matters of the heart and soul, but have sometimes had to face the harsh reality that my best efforts to communicate have fallen profoundly short of their intent, sometimes even yielding the opposite result.....which is what brings me to where I am today.

I think it might be in order to preface whatever follows with a confession, of a sort. I don't have a freakin' clue when it comes to effective communication in a relationship once feelings are involved. It isn't logical when you consider that some of my best qualities, as well as professional competencies, are related to beng able to communicate well, both verbally and nonverbally. But once my heart is invested, I seem to chart a course hellbent on destruction. I apparently have a fatal flaw that keeps relationships from working for me. If I had any clue what it was, I'd fix it. I guess that's why I quit trying for so long. Then, after nearly 20 years, I let someone open that door. He led me to the precipace and made me believe I could fly. He took me where I'd never been and showed me the world through new eyes. He gave me hope, restored my faith and woke my heart from its long, dreamless sleep. Then, in an instant he vanished and slammed the door behind him, leaving me in freefall with no escape and no answers....only fruitless speculation as to how I might've fallen victim to my own untimely words.

Don't be too quick to judge me, however. You're obviously no genius in the relationship game either, else you wouldn't be here reading this. There's only so much that can be written off to lack of opportunity. The truth is, anyone over 30 who is still floundering on how to make a relationship work needs to scrap the old playbook and admit he/she is ill-equiped and be willing to try a new approach. Like it or not, no matter how well we have come to terms with the pain experienced in past relationships, it is still intricately interwoven through the fabric of who we are and will influence how we interact with any partner that follows. So also does a partner bring with him his own wounded history. With 20/20 hindsight, I would suggest that a good place to start over is admitting to one another that the rules have changed, and that you don't necessarily know what the new rules are. You might have to make them up as you go along, but this way, you can at least make them up together so you're both playing by the same ones.

Scientology, S E C T or religion?

JESUS IS THE LORD!!!........

The sect called Scientology was created in 1950 by the American science fiction writer Lafayette Ronald Hubbard (LRH said), and was initially known as Dianetics, "Modern Science of Mental Health,Scientology is an amalgam of pseudo-scientific concepts and psychological concepts that divide the mind into two distinct entities, the analytical mind and the reactive mind (a legacy of Dianetics). The purpose of Dianetics is empty and then delete the "reactive mind" - responsible behaviors aberrated individual - and make the person completely analytical and self-determined, or "Clear", released.
Scientology believes in a spirit that defines the thetan can reincarnasi indefinitely. The thetan is all-powerful entity, a fallen god who has forgotten his original infinite powers and can recover only by following Hubbard's instructions to the letter. An "Operating Thetan" would be able to act over the physical with the sheer force of will, and would work in a state of "externalization" stable, that is outside his body...........

Despite Scientology for things like compassion and solidarity are considered "misemozioni", ie where to get rid of negative emotions in order to achieve "total freedom", sees no contradiction in declaring compatible with those religions that believe on the contrary, solidarity and compassion are important values

the medical world, which has repeatedly identified in these serious risks of psychological practice carried out by amateurs

- From family groups and family members who accuse the circuit its members and exercising excessive control over their lives, emotional, personal relationships (mind control)

- As a former senior members who have denounced abuses incredible.........................

The Smallest State In The World

What defines a sovereign state? With just over 100 acres (0.44 sq km) of real estate and about 900 citizens, the Vatican City is the smallest country in the world and is located within a walled area in Rome. But is it really a sovereign State?

Lets look at the 8 criteria that defines a sovereign State.
1. Boundaries: The Vatican City has undisputed boundaries even though it is located within the city of Rome.
2. Residents: The Vatican City is home to approximately 920 full-time residents who maintain passports from their home country and diplomatic passports from the Vatican.
3. Economic Activity: Not much foreign trade but significant foreign investment by the Catholic Church. It relies on the sale of postage stamps and tourist mementos, and fees for admission to museums. The Vatican City issues its own coins.
4. Social Services like education: Yes, although there aren’t a lot of kids there!
5. Transportation: There are no highways, railroads, or airports. No need for it though. It is smaller than some shopping malls.
6. Public Services: Electricity, telephones, and other utilities are provided by Italy but has an internal Police force (Corpo della Guardia Svizzera).
7. Supreme Sovereignty: The authority, jurisdiction, and sovereignty are vested in the Pope and his advisers.
8. External Recognition: It maintains formal diplomatic relations with 174 nations. The Vatican City is not a member of the United Nations by its own choice.

So yes. We should consider it as an independent State.

"All of me"

I am dedicating this song to the one
Whoever he is,
Whatever he is,
And wherever he is.

May all of you and all of me find the one
Whose perfect imperfections make
Our head spin,
Our heart pound,
And our soul sing...

“… Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh…”

EGGSPERT...

I'm a few miles from Johnson & Wales University. It's been called 'the cooking college' because they specialize in careers in the food service industry. Masters of the culinary arts.

Years ago, my dentist raved about their Sunday brunch. I never tried it, but I've seen their TV commercials where a chef single-handedly cracks an egg on the edge of a bowl impressed me.

Okay... I can do that... NOT!!!

Maybe with practice I could, but I'm not inclined to eat scrambled eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner while I learn the technique.

I guess if you go to a cooking college you have to be an 'eggspert' to make it to the next level!

Lizzo...

A few years ago a co-worker asked if I had seen an awards show that was televised the night before. I didn't and he went on to explain how he was repulsed to see a grossly obese woman being recognized as a new artist. I think he was annoyed about her 'over the top' personality. It wasn't in my world so I ignored the comment, but I remembered the artist's name Lizzo.
From time-to-time she would appear in the news and I actually heard one of her songs on the radio last month. Hip-hop with a rap lyric. Okay, that must be a calling card for the genre.
Again, Lizzo appears in the news about a lawsuit over s*xual harassment and hostile work environment. It appears to be a 'big girl' issue if it will damage her career or not.
I called up one of her YouTube videos to see what they are talking about.

Good voice, catchy rhythm, video on a budget... but that's okay. I've seen worse.
Due to her weight, I did find it funny she was moon-walking in white combat boots and the special effects of walking on water in a swimming pool of water acrobats.
Cute video and whatever the outcome of her lawsuit, I doubt it would crush the career of this or any musical artist with that kind of energy.

Lizzo - About Damn Time (official video)

Just for laughs...(i hope)

My ex wife and I were sitting at a table at my school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked, Do you know her? 'Yes,' I sighed, she’s my old girlfriend.
I understand she took to drinking right after we split up all those years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.' 'My God!' says my wife, Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?

…………and then the fight started help help sigh

I rear-ended a car the other morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?
Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!!
He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'
So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well then, which one are you?'

…….and then the fight started help help sigh

A mate of mine's wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to him, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'

He replied, 'Well, your eyesight's damn near perfect.'

………and then the fight started help help sigh

After retiring, a friend of mine went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security.
The woman behind the counter asked him for his driver's license to verify his age. he looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry, but he would have to go home and come back later.
The woman said, 'There's really no need, just unbutton your shirt'.
So so opened his shirt revealing his curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application.
When he got home, he excitedly told his wife about his experience at the Social Security office.
She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too'

………..and then the fight started help help sigh
Go on laugh, you know you want to.....
