Blocking emergency vehicles...

A few blocks east of me is a hospital. I can hear ambulances on their way to the Emergency Room. I can also hear them blowing their horns when someone is blocking their path to the hospital.
Less than a mile west of me is a fire station. If my windows are open, I can hear paramedics and fire trucks leaving the station. I can also hear when they blow their horns to alert cars to GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Last week, I was passing the fire station when the large ladder truck started pulling out. It's a 6-lane divided highway with a cement/grass center median. The traffic signal changes to red. I stopped and cars around me continued to run the red light ignoring the siren, lights and horn of the fire truck.

Today, a block from the hospital, cars in the turn lane refused to stop and allow an ambulance to get through the intersection that was coming from a different direction. Forget the siren and horn... these drivers didn't allow the ambulance legal right-of-way. I could see the ambulance having to wait (again) for cars not giving access to the hospital.

To say this is bad is an understatement. I don't know what it's like in your city. I thought Miami (50 miles south) was bad, Palm Beach appears to have taken the lead of bad drivers.

I'm sure there are laws for blocking emergency vehicles, but you have to have police watching and not busy escorting the ambulance to the ER.

The E. Jean Carroll case...

This deserves a blog of it's own. Back in the 1990's Carroll claims Donald Trump raped her in a famous New York City department store. Trump denied her allegation. He said she's not his type.
I read she kept the garment she was wearing that has his sperm on it and a DNA test would be conclusive. I also read the court isn't allowing the test.
There's a second issue of defamation where he's being sued by Carroll based on disparaging comments he made in response to her accusation.

Trump's lawyers tried and failed to get both cases dismissed.

Over the years, he's been accused of rape several times, but none of them stuck. I recall one woman backed out before the trial due to death threats.

Another woman came forward and the situation was different. Either Trump or one of his lawyers made a clarification or comparison, but that only sounded like he was part of both and the women weren't lying.

So the man who's in court over business fraud, indirectly paying a porn star hush money, a boasting womanizer with a history of affairs while married, had partied with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell is teetering over a rape case that may actually lean in Carroll's favor. He would be found guilty of s*xual assault. Convicted Rapists in Florida are on a list and their movements are often restricted.

Santos?

Up until today, I thought congressman George Santos was just a pathological liar, now I see he's been arrested on Federal charges of fraud and money laundering.

"The 13-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury Tuesday includes seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives. If convicted, Santos faces up to 20 years in prison for the most serious charges."

The what's next blog...

Fake university, he lost in court. Racking up countless business failures, he declared bankruptcy on 6 hotels and casinos.
Impeached twice.
His organization companies found guilty on multiple charges of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records.
He is connected with business fraud in the Stormy Daniels case.
Recently found liable in the E. Jean Carroll case, this may open a 'tidal wave' of women coming forward with similar claims.

While claiming' witch hunt' for nearly everything, Teflon Don has squeaked through a lot.
But there is still more to go...

He faces two lawsuits tied to his alleged efforts to interfere with the 2020 election.
I think the big ticket is he will be found guilty in connection with the January 6th insurrection.
Some are talking the possibility of prison, I personally think it would be a few years of house arrest and travel restrictions.

What's next?

No more questions your honor...

In yesterday's news, a 3rd woman took the stand in the civil trial of Donald J. Trump. Author and journalist, Natasha Stoynoff became the third woman to testify under oath that Trump sexually assaulted her years earlier.
She was more specific and told the jury Trump forcefully kissed her while doing an interview in 2005, for People magazine at his home in Mar-a-Lago.

"She also told her direct superior at work, who was also a close friend, but she didn’t tell anyone else higher up at the magazine for fear that they’d kill her story and Trump would retaliate, she testified."

A pattern has formed and it's not looking good for Trump. Already talk of appealing the outcome, like all judgements of Donald. J. Trump, this could be in the court system for many years.

Story:

Reader comments:
Let's be direct: Trump's trial attorneys have already given up and the new plan is to get the verdict reversed on appeal.

When the person can’t be bothered to show up for a court case against them, I don’t think it cast them in the best light.

My mother is a T fan. She said she loves his policies and doesn't care what kind of person he is. "That's his business," she says. I think that's the mindset of his followers. Doesn't matter if he has integrity, honor, dignity, courage, none of it.

He didn't call any witnesses for his defense because there is no witnesses for his defense. He has no defense.

In layman's terms trump's lawyers are saying he's guilty and there is nothing we can do to help him.

BMW, the ultimate crashing machine...

I know BMW advertises their cars as the ultimate driving machine, but in the hands of an idiot, they become the ultimate crashing machine. When the Highway Patrol pull you over, they come to the passenger side of the vehicle for safety.
A Police officer in Fairfax, Virginia was speaking to a driver he had pulled over. The dash-cam shows just that and in the distance an 'out of control BMW' slides across the median backwards then side swipes the stopped car with such force that is bends the guard rail, hits the police car forcing it to slide back a car length.
The office saw the BMW and tried to run for cover but was struck to the ground, literally inches from disaster.

It's reported the BMW was driving more than 120 miles per hour when it lost control and spun around.

Projects I don't complete...

I have an old laptop that only gets used when I'm outside, usually on a jobsite and I need to review drawings that I don't have printed copies of. The battery would only work for a short time, so I replaced it. The hard drive was slow so a friend suggested I upgrade to an SSD (solid state drive) that works faster with less power drain.
Good idea. I bought the drive, 500 gigabyte. The problem is the drive on the laptop is 1 terabyte. While I'm only using a small part of the capacity, the conversion software won't compress what I have to the smaller drive. No problem. I bought a 1 terabyte SSD but I haven't gotten back to the project. It's in the box on my desk collecting dust and the laptop is somewhere in the living room, also collecting dust.

I have a computer simulator for learning to fly model aircraft. It does airplanes, drones and helicopters. I used it religiously and the cord at the top of the controller wore out. It doesn't work reliably. No problem said I, as the plan was to cut a few inches of the worn wire off the cord and reconnect it.
There is a coil (interference filter) where it exits the controller that I snipped off. One problem is 6 wires come from the USB side and 5 wires come from the inside of the controller. Something gets changed in the coil. It took a few days of searching for my test meter. I gave up and bought a new meter. It's been a few months and the opened controller is on the shelf.

While looking for something else, I found the test meter that I couldn't find earlier. So now I have 2 meters and the project isn't finished.

I bought a new controller but it doesn't work with the older software, so I had to buy the newest version simulator and I'm undecided if I will go back complete the project.

The thought now is to pay my friend who suggested I do the SSD upgrade. His business is technical electronic repair. Changing the drive and repairing the controller is something he could easily do.

Projects I don't complete.

I'm concerned about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas...

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has popped up in the news this past week... several times. It appears his connections with conservative billionaire Harlan Crow has recently uncovered some unreported gifts and non-disclosure of real estate sales.
However wrong (or possibly illegal) that is, he will gather support so it's like water running off a duck's back.

The question raised is how could a Supreme Court Justice be impartial and able to do his job fairly when his wife and long time investor friend are ultra-conservative pumping money and support into the Republican party?

Certainly my opinion... I expect some of you to differ.

Nearly a year ago, there was movement on other issues that he should be removed from his position.

I'll call this a request for justice about a Justice.

Copyright infringement...

Ed Sheeran has defeated a copyright infringement lawsuit involving his Grammy-winning song "Thinking Out Loud" to the Marvin Gaye classic "Let's Get It On."

Stated publicly, he felt frustrated by the baseless claims and praised the jury's decision.
A Manhattan jury has found the musician did not engage in willful copyright infringement.

Okay, lots of song have similar beats, rhythms, chord progressions and that doesn't make them liable to other similar sounding songs.

I can think of other groups who 'lifted' songs by other other artists and either settled in court, out of court, win or lose.

This video/sound comparison came out 6 years ago:

In court, Ed backed up his claim that there are other songs with the same progression recorded before Marvin Gaye's song... would that mean he was guilty of copyright infringement too?
That would be a copyright infringement of a copyright infringement.

Credit card on file...

I have a credit card about to expire and need to go through all the sources who use that card and be affected when I activate the replacement. Amazon, water company, power company, insurance, Internet provider, virus protection, cellphone service, prepaid toll...
Any one I forgot will have to chase me. Life is that way!

Twister...

We are getting some severe weather this week. About 20 miles north, in Palm Beach Gardens, a tornado touched down flipping cars and damaging houses. The National Weather Service in Miami said the tornado that hit late Saturday afternoon had winds of over 100 miles per hour.
Luckily, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
I watched radar a few times today and areas 30 miles south of me were under tornado watch. As far as I know, there were no incidents there.

I'm not sure why the news reported it as a 'suspected' tornado. It appeared on radar as a tornado, damaged as a tornado, people were warned we were on a tornado watch and the news posted video of the tornado.
